TEST DRIVE # 15



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Sneaky Snakes

There are a number of snakes that have become possessed by a bunch of very sneaky ayakashi. They are slithering around, silently, snaring unsuspecting passersby into their trap - their trap to steal money. That's right, these snakes are busy snatching bills and coins from whoever they can. Try to put a stop to their thieving ways, or perhaps get thieved by them yourself.

Tummy Troubles

Many of the customers of a certain restaurant are complaining of the fact that their stomachs hurt after eating there. It could just be food poisoning, but many of these people are winding up in critical condition after a couple of days. It's time to figure out what the heck this cook is actually putting in the food.

Underwhelming Underwear

A family run business has been selling underwear for generations, but the underwear they sell is super boring and bland. Nobody wants to buy from them when cooler underwear is just around the corner. They've asked you to help them bring customers back in - by making their boring underwear seem as cool and hip as possible! How you do that is up to you.

Vividly Violet

There are so many ayakashi making their way through the air that at sunset the sky is turning an absolutely gorgeous shade of purple. Near Shore residents are reacting to this in varying ways. Many are delighted by the beautiful sky, but just as many are terrified that it's a sign of the end of times. Try to take down some ayakashi to make the sky less purple. Or just sit back and watch the beauty.

Wonder Wall

Anyways, there's this college boy who won't stop playing his acoustic guitar. He's from the US and is trying to pick up Japanese chicks. By now he should've somehow realized that they're totally not interested in him. But the song just keeps getting louder and louder and all that the people near the campus can hope is that today is gonna be the day that he stops playing. Maybe you're gonna be the one that saves them.

A. Tummy Troubles

What's so bad in the food?

[One cannot be a Saiyan - half or not - without eating the food.

Large amounts of it, too.

He blinks as he watches the people groan, easily catching a poor woman as she doubles over, holding her stomach. He looks confused, mostly because well, he feels perfectly fine. As he helps the woman sit down somewhere safe, he switches his attention to the closest person.]

Hey, wanna help me find out what's going on with this place?

B. Vividly Violet

[The sky is beautiful, but Gohan knows enough just how off it feels. The negative energy is palpable, affecting the humans below, and Gohan isn't the kind of person to let humans suffer.

Even if what he's facing isn't aliens or bloodthirsty foes from his father's past.

It doesn't take much for him to fly up, hands together as he gathers Ki.]

Kame...hame...ha! [Enjoy that spectacular blue beam of energy cutting down the ayakashi.]

[Goten zips through the air, practically making this into a game of tag. As he weaves through the mass of ayakashi, tossing small ki blasts, making them disperse or fall. He's become an annoying fly to the creatures. So much so that it's really no surprise he has a trail of them chasing after him.]

You'll have to go faster then that if you wanna catch me! Haha!

[He laughs as he turns around, flying backwards as he faces the ayakashi. Carefully, Goten cups his hands together at his side, focusing his own ki Chi--- that's when a stunning large beam of energy shoots by in front of him.

Blue energy beam that isn't his.

Goten gapes at it, frozen in place as he follows it down towards the source.]

. . . . .

[He blinks owlishly at Gohan. How'd he do that? Goten can't even make one that big--and he's flying!]

. . . . .

[Goten trembles a bit as a huge eager smile pulls up the corners of his mouth and his whole face lights up. Ayakashi completely forgotten.]

WHOA! That was amazing! That had to be the biggest, coolest most powerful blast I've ever seen! Yeah!

[Goten shouts down to him, waving his arms in excitement. This guy is strong!--Though its probably best not to ignore the ayakashi for too long as they start to regroup unbeknownst to Goten. ]

[There's initial surprise upon seeing Goten.

He stops short upon seeing his little brother, eyes widening a bit.

What was he doing here?]

Go-- [He stops short, realizing something is preventing him from completely calling out his brother's name. He grimaces, just a second, before he realizes the ayakashi gathering behind the younger boy.]

[Immediately, he holds out two hands in Goten's direction, powering up a bit but not going Saiyan.

Before long, he shoots out two Ki blasts, but instead of hitting his brother, it weaves around him and both of them hit the group of ayakashi without fail.

He flies closer to Goten, though not without keeping his eyes off of the ayakashi. They're not dying, but it seems to be enough to keep them off of their tail for a bit. However, as soon as he sees them trying to run away, Gohan holds out another hand and fires a Ki blast at them.]

Hellooo~!!!! [1/3]

How'd you make it so big? You gotta show me! I didn't know there was someone else that could fly besides me---and maybe that weird bird-ghost guy I've seen around but--

[He blinks as Gohan holds his hands out towards him.]

H-Huh?

[Why is he doing that? What's he doing? Goten isn't an ayakashi... So he's not really going to-]

[He is!

He REALLY is going to!

--AND HE DOES!

Goten's eyes widen at the pair of Ki blasts shooting straight for him. They're too fast! He can't dodge that! The young shinki barely has any time to lift his arms up and clench his eyes shut as the two blasts shoot around him. Goten blinks, wide eyed before feeling the explosion behind him. How close the ayakashi's were getting behind him and the sheer power of the blast makes him tumble forward a bit as he waves his arms.]

W-Whoaaa! [A few tumbles and he manages to stops himself, floating upside down as he stares in awe at Gohan's back and the group of fleeing ayakashi.

...That was scary... BUT SO COOL!]

[saiyanhybrid]

[Gohan's quiet for a moment, carefully making sure the ayakashi weren't coming back before he turns to Goten.

Smiles.]

You okay?

[Judging fro how Goten is reacting, however, his little brother is fine. Then again, there's not really a lot that can take Goten down, definitely not ayakashi.

It doesn't escape from him that Goten's questions seemed to be something that he should know, but doesn't and Gohan is trying hard to ignore the implications of that.]

[sonofson]

[Goten snaps out of the daze and blinks at Gohan. He turns right side up and floats a little closer curiously before pointing a finger at himself]

I thought you were tryin' to blast me!

[If he wasn't so amazed by how everything played out and over Gohan's control of energy he'd actually be a little upset. Goten doesn't like being scared especially when this god could have warned him before hand...maybe?

But Goten has SOOOOO many questions. So many! He doesn't even know where to start. But something about Gohan just feels familiar. Goten is usually quick to warm up to people but this is different. It's almost eerie how comfortable he feels around the god, that it makes him uncomfortable when he notices it. It makes him settle down a little.]

Uhm, yeah. I'm fine. Thanks.

[saiyanhybrid]

[He smiles sheepishly.]

Sorry about that. [But he knew Goten would be alright.

He usually is.

Either way, Gohan takes a brief moment to study Goten. His younger brother doesn't look hurt; actually, he doesn't look as if nothing has happened to him before. If what he's been told is correct, then Goten wouldn't know about him, and if Gohan pushes too hard, then his brother would remember too much, and it.

It isn't okay.

But he keeps up the smile.]

That's good to hear. Is it just you around here?

[sonofson]

[Goten blinks slowly at the question. His turns to the left and then the right, then he glances down to the ground that is way below them. Considering they're up in the sky... yep! He's the only one around.

He looks back to Gohan and nods his head quickly]

Yeah...no one else can get this high 'cept me and Kairi. But she needs Nimbus for that. And you....

[Random god he's never seen before that can fly and shoot blasts like him. He can't help but stare at him.

Goten may be young but that just screams awesome! The smile returns to his face as he floats closer to Gohan, fist clench in anticipation]

H-how are you flying without wings? And you know how to use Chi too! Are you a Youkai or something? 'cause you're super good at it! Like...Hakkai level good!

[Well maybe not that good. Hakkai is pretty up there. Same with Izumo and his fire powers--but hey, this guy is pretty good!]

[saiyanhybrid]

[Not what he meant, but that doesn't matter.

He looks surprised upon hearing Nimbus.]

Nimbus is here? [The question slips out before Gohan can hold it back and he. Well. Oops. He hopes Goten doesn't pay attention to that.

Gohan blinks at the questions, but he quickly smiles again.]

No, definitely not a Youkai. I'm using my Ki in order to fly. [Wait. Hakkai?

He tilts his head to the side, looking confused.] Who's Hakkai?

[Goten's head tilts a bit at that, eyebrow raising]

Yeah, of course Nimbus is here. Well, not right now but I can call Nimbus and it'll come!

[If Kairi isn't busy doing things on it. Nimbus spends more time with her just because Goten can fly on his own. Though how this guy knows about the yellow cloud--he must know Kairi too! Everyone knows Kairi! She's one of the most social butterflies!]

Are you sure? I mean...you don't have pointy ears like him I guess.

[Ki? Did he mean Chi? Probably.]

Hakkai knows all about Chi, he's been helping me figure out how to use mine. Izumo too but he mostly uses fire. I train with them a whole bunch. You should too! They're really strong.

[Goten smiles, looking pretty proud]

Where is Nimbus?

[He. Might be a little more excited than he should, but he mellows out a bit.

Would Nimbus remember him? He can only hope so, but he doesn't want to get his hopes up. It's quick to be replaced by confusion again, quickly followed by amusement. Pointy ears, huh? It reminds him of Piccolo and he has to hold back a laugh.

Gohan shakes his head.] It's like Chi, but we call it Ki back home. [Ah, this isn't going to go bad, is it?

And there's another name: Izumo. He hopes these guys really are kind and simply not taking advantage of Goten.]

Sounds like fun. [That pride he sees is enough to make Gohan grin.] Hey, why don't you show me what they've shown you?

[sonofson]

Uhhh probably around here somewhere....Do you want me to call Nimbus here?

[He glances around a bit. The yellow cloud is almost never in sight unless called for and with all the ayakashi that were covering the sky before, he wouldn't be surprise if the cloud flew off somewhere else.

But the talk of Chi vs Ki grabs his attention again. Ki... it does sound familiar. He did say they were similar. Hakkai would know more then Goten would. ]

Huh? But I just met you? I don't even know your name, mister! I don't think it's good to go around punching strangers in the face...I don't wanna get in trouble!

[Or at least that's how he pictures Izumo and Kairi telling him if they found out.]

[Where did he end up now? Or rather, when.

This world doesn't look familiar at all. Future or past, they both had at least some familiarity. If anything, the lack of destruction and hovering vehicles makes him wonder just how far back in time he is this time around.
Without a time machine no less.
Perfect.

Gritting his teeth, Trunks' hand tightens into a fist. He doesn't have time to waste here. He's so stick of dealing with 'gods' and now he's apparently become one? This has to be some sick joke.

But before he can curse and reflect more on his new situation, that bright powerful beam makes his senses go on full alert. This ki...feels familiar and he can see the fading light of the beam in the distance. Blasting off the ground, Trunks speeds in that direction. He can feel someone, it's oddly familiar energy.

It's when arrives and he jerks to a sudden halt that he can't help but stare in disbelief at the fellow demi-saiyan. He knows that face...]

G-Gohan?

[It takes him a second to ensure that he isn't imagining this but there's something else more threatening in the air that snaps his attention quickly. Questions later.

He needs to help Gohan. Trunks gathers ki into both of his hands before thrusting it out a burst of multiple ki blasts. They're no Kamehamehas but enough to push the creatures back. The explode upon contact though the creatures are tougher then they seem. It seems to hurt them but he can't destroy them.]

[saiyanhybrid]

[It takes a minute for Gohan to properly recognize that Ki. It makes him briefly confused because what was Trunks doing here? He didn't die either, did he?

Better yet, it feels more like the Trunks he knew from when Gohan was still a young teenager still preparing for the Cell Games? The Trunks he knows now is still young, still learning to polish his control and techniques, but this Ki he's feeling now is different.

But familiar.

Gohan jerks back when he sees the man's face, still resembling so much from the time Gohan's last seen him back when he himself was still young.]

Trunks?

[He watches, briefly stunned, as Trunks fires the Ki blasts. While it doesn't destroy the ayakashi, Gohan can see them quickly retreating. He fires his own Ki blast, larger and not a Kamehameha, but enough to keep them running away and from possibly coming back.]

[hope1]

[The sky starts to clear of the creatures. While even their combined efforts don't seem to be enough to take down the ayakashi, seems to do the trick in getting them to retreat. Trunks keeps his eyes narrowed, just on the off chance any of them decide to whirl back around.

That doesn't seem to be the case. Good.

Lowering his hands, he glances almost shyly back to Gohan, not really sure what to do. He did go back in time, that much is clear, but just how far and where? Why is Gohan here? He has so many questions and no where to begin. Gohan's appearance just further confuses him. Picturing him with a scar and missing arm briefly makes Trunks shake his head and lift a hand to rub at his eyes. Same face, not the same Gohan.

'Get it together, Trunks.'

Lowering his hand, he forces himself to turn fully to the fellow half-saiyan.]

That takes care of that, for now anyway...

[Gohan waits for a moment, waiting to see the ayakashi clear out before he breathes out, relaxing.

He watches Trunks, a bright smile on his face.]

Thanks for the help, Trunks!

[But then that leaves the question of why Trunks is here, and with Gohan calling out his name like that and if he turns out to be a shinki—Wellc that's a big ooos.

He flies a little closer to him, only stopping just a short feet away.]

But...what are you doing here?

[hope1]

Hey, no problem.

[Trunks can't help the small tug at the corners of his mouth. He is happy to see Gohan, no matter what time he's from. Tossing a few blasts is the least he could do. No way is he going to make Gohan handle all those things on his own, not when he can help it. If only most things got scared away that easily.

But then the question comes up, grabbing Trunks attention again. Right.]

I was about to ask you the same thing. Gohan, do you know what year it is or anything?

[saiyanhybrid]

[Gohan tilts his head to the side at the question, much like his father, and his arms are crossed over his chest. Trunks remembers him, so it's safe to assume he's a god. Definitely not like Goten, anyway.

But the question asked only confirms his identity. This is the Trunks he's met as a young teen, after all. So, remembering how this Trunks' future is like, he probably wouldn't know about Goten, so that's one subject not to bring up. Eventually, he shakes his head.]

I have no idea what year this is. All I got when I came here was that I'm supposed to be a god and I was given a warning about some things called ayakashi and shinki.

[hope1]

[Just stop him if he mistakes the boy for 'Goku' or something. That hairstyle is hard to miss.]

Yeah, I got pretty much the same talk but nothing makes sense, espeically if you're here. I thought maybe I screwed something up in the time machine when I was working on it. But even that's not here with me....

[ If the time machine got him here, then it should be here with him. But that doesn't explain Gohan's appearance.

Luckily, his 'current timeline' is pretty peaceful right now. More or less. So while he is restless to get back to it, it's nothing to overly urgent. Still, it can't be good that he's here. Or Gohan. The last thing he wants to cause are anymore messed up timelines.

Absently, Trunks pats his own chest]

I don't feel much different, then again ,I wouldn't know what being a 'god' is suppose to feel like... Maybe there are some others we can ask more about this.

[saiyanhybrid]

Yeah, I wasn't expecting to see you either. [There's a pause, a thoughtful look masking his face.] This place seems to pull people here. I'm not sure if shinki qualifies in that same factor.

[If it was Trunks' time machine, some things might be simpler, but at the same time, it isn't.

And here Gohan was hoping for some peace right after the Majin Buu situation.]

Maybe. Who knows. We might find more people we know here.

I hope not....

[It sounds a bit heartless to say but running into more familiar faces would further complicate things. Especially considering timelines into the mix. Even now it's hard for him to pin point where when Gohan is from.

Trunks absently looks over Gohan again, frowning. He looks a little younger then his last visit to the past. Or maybe that's the lack of glasses? But surely a few years after the cell games. That much he's certain of.]

From what I understand about shinki, it's people that have died right? That can be just about anyone...

[Friends and foes, but if they lack memories...well that's going to be a whole other issue.]

[Gohan blinks a bit when Trunks looks at him, curious.]

Something the matter?

[How long has he really seen Trunks, anyway? Though, now that he's gotten a better look at him, something is different about him, too. It's nearly enough to get him to frown, trying to place what it is that makes Trunks feel different from the last time he's seen him.

A blink, though, before he just barely manages to hold back a grimace upon remembering Goten,]

Yeah, that's true.

[He cups his chin in thought.]
