Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

Sneaky Snakes
There are a number of snakes that have become possessed by a bunch of very sneaky ayakashi. They are slithering around, silently, snaring unsuspecting passersby into their trap - their trap to steal money. That's right, these snakes are busy snatching bills and coins from whoever they can. Try to put a stop to their thieving ways, or perhaps get thieved by them yourself.
Many of the customers of a certain restaurant are complaining of the fact that their stomachs hurt after eating there. It could just be food poisoning, but many of these people are winding up in critical condition after a couple of days. It's time to figure out what the heck this cook is actually putting in the food.
A family run business has been selling underwear for generations, but the underwear they sell is super boring and bland. Nobody wants to buy from them when cooler underwear is just around the corner. They've asked you to help them bring customers back in - by making their boring underwear seem as cool and hip as possible! How you do that is up to you.
There are so many ayakashi making their way through the air that at sunset the sky is turning an absolutely gorgeous shade of purple. Near Shore residents are reacting to this in varying ways. Many are delighted by the beautiful sky, but just as many are terrified that it's a sign of the end of times. Try to take down some ayakashi to make the sky less purple. Or just sit back and watch the beauty.
Anyways, there's this college boy who won't stop playing his acoustic guitar. He's from the US and is trying to pick up Japanese chicks. By now he should've somehow realized that they're totally not interested in him. But the song just keeps getting louder and louder and all that the people near the campus can hope is that today is gonna be the day that he stops playing. Maybe you're gonna be the one that saves them.

He looks back to Gohan and nods his head quickly]
Yeah...no one else can get this high 'cept me and Kairi. But she needs Nimbus for that. And you....
[Random god he's never seen before that can fly and shoot blasts like him. He can't help but stare at him.
Goten may be young but that just screams awesome! The smile returns to his face as he floats closer to Gohan, fist clench in anticipation]
H-how are you flying without wings? And you know how to use Chi too! Are you a Youkai or something? 'cause you're super good at it! Like...Hakkai level good!
[Well maybe not that good. Hakkai is pretty up there. Same with Izumo and his fire powers--but hey, this guy is pretty good!]

He looks surprised upon hearing Nimbus.]
Nimbus is here? [The question slips out before Gohan can hold it back and he. Well. Oops. He hopes Goten doesn't pay attention to that.
Gohan blinks at the questions, but he quickly smiles again.]
No, definitely not a Youkai. I'm using my Ki in order to fly. [Wait. Hakkai?
He tilts his head to the side, looking confused.] Who's Hakkai?

Yeah, of course Nimbus is here. Well, not right now but I can call Nimbus and it'll come!
[If Kairi isn't busy doing things on it. Nimbus spends more time with her just because Goten can fly on his own. Though how this guy knows about the yellow cloud--he must know Kairi too! Everyone knows Kairi! She's one of the most social butterflies!]
Are you sure? I mean...you don't have pointy ears like him I guess.
[Ki? Did he mean Chi? Probably.]
Hakkai knows all about Chi, he's been helping me figure out how to use mine. Izumo too but he mostly uses fire. I train with them a whole bunch. You should too! They're really strong.
[Goten smiles, looking pretty proud]
lmao yes you can
[He. Might be a little more excited than he should, but he mellows out a bit.
Would Nimbus remember him? He can only hope so, but he doesn't want to get his hopes up. It's quick to be replaced by confusion again, quickly followed by amusement. Pointy ears, huh? It reminds him of Piccolo and he has to hold back a laugh.
Gohan shakes his head.] It's like Chi, but we call it Ki back home. [Ah, this isn't going to go bad, is it?
And there's another name: Izumo. He hopes these guys really are kind and simply not taking advantage of Goten.]
Sounds like fun. [That pride he sees is enough to make Gohan grin.] Hey, why don't you show me what they've shown you?

[He glances around a bit. The yellow cloud is almost never in sight unless called for and with all the ayakashi that were covering the sky before, he wouldn't be surprise if the cloud flew off somewhere else.
But the talk of Chi vs Ki grabs his attention again. Ki... it does sound familiar. He did say they were similar. Hakkai would know more then Goten would. ]
Huh? But I just met you? I don't even know your name, mister! I don't think it's good to go around punching strangers in the face...I don't wanna get in trouble!
[Or at least that's how he pictures Izumo and Kairi telling him if they found out.]

[Gohan himself wants to call the familiar yellow cloud, but that. Might be a very bad idea.
A blink before he smiles.]
My name is Gohan. [Not good to go around punching strangers in the face, huh? It almost makes him chuckle because Goten, at the heat of it all, is a good kid. Their father would've encouraged him, though, since when did Goku ever turn down a fight?
Their mother would disapprove, and usually Goten was with Trunks and those two together are a pair.
He flashes him a reassuring grin.] It'll just be a sparring session. Besides, when would you get the chance to spar with someone while flying?

Hey Nimbus! C'mon over, there's someone that wants to meetcha!
[Its a few seconds before there's any sign of the yellow fluff of a cloud. It comes zooming over to them, whirling around them before coming to a screeching halt between the two demi saiyans]
Hey Nimbus! Nimbus this is Gohan--
[The cloud is already pretty taken with the new god, going in circles around him and even bumping Gohan's side. It makes Goten blink but...maybe Nimbus is just feeling super friendly? Or Kairi already introduced Nimbus and Gohan. Whatever the reason, the cloud needed more friends anyway.]
I'm Goten!
[He smiles at him before pulling his arm across his chest and stretching. Okay Gohan, you know Goten too well. You got him with that. How can he pass up sparing in the air?]
Okay, whatever you say! I'm pretty strong too though, so you better not go easy on me just cause I'm little.

It's good to see you, too. He doesn't say it out loud since Goten is still there, but he hopes he'd be able to call Nimbus later, if only to catch up and be able to get that sense of home again.
He grins at Goten.]
Nice to meet'cha, Goten. [He'll ignore the heartbreak later.
The grin shifts into a smirk, patting Nimbus a bit so that the cloud can go off to the side before Gohan shifts into a fighting stance.]
Me go easy on you? Not a chance.

[That fighting stance Gohan shifts into isn't all that different from his own. Actually, there's not many people here that even take a stance before a fight. Even Goten does it...just because it feels right. He doesn't know why, but his body just sort of naturally shifts into one. Gohan must really know how to fight...or at least it looks like it. So Chi-Ki, whatever you want to call it, blasts aren't the only thing he knows. Goten already can figure out he can't compete with Gohan's control as far as that goes. But that's okay. Goten is no ordinary child. He's strong and all the training with Hakkai and Izumo is going to help. There's also the things he learned from Yukine...
There's a smile pulling at the corners of Goten's mouth even as he narrows his eyes at Gohan, focusing. He likes fighting. It's like a game---a game where you get stronger. But he doesn't know Gohan so going full force at him is worrying when Goten can punch holes into mountains. He wants to punch Gohan, but not put a hole in him!
Taking a slow breath, Goten suddenly speeds towards Gohan with his right arm pulled back into a fist that he swings at the teenager before following up with his left in a uppercut. No way is he going to lose!]

Immediately, he raises his arm up, blocking it. He can feel the force in that uppercut, enough to make him grin.
Goten definitely hasn't lost his edge.
Still, he did ask for a sparring session and no way was he going to back down now. So, he forces Goten back, quickly spinning in order to aim a kick at his side.]

and maybe that jerk god Loki that picked through his brain.But even though Goten is holding back a bit on his strength but it's still power to his punches. Easily enough to send an adult flying even with blocking, but Gohan takes it like it's nothing.]
Ah!
[The spinning kick is just barely dodged and hopped over due to his brief loss of focus. He needs to stop being awe-struck by this guy! Too close! Gritting his teeth a little, Goten rushes at Gohan again in a flurry of punches and kicks, trying to force him back in return.]

So Goten hasn't really lost his edge, but Gohan can tell that he's holding back. He's quick to brace himself as Goten comes at him in a flurry. Each punch and kick is countered with his own. Gohan doesn't let up, going at full strength in order to get Goten to use his.
Come on, little bro. It's okay to go all out on him.]

It's....fun!
Goten's push forward starts to become a fall back as Gohan doesn't let up. How is this god keeping up with him so well? He does his best to fend Gohan off before suddenly flying backwards. He holds his hands out, focusing his energy in both hands before tossing the two Ki blasts at Gohan.]

But it's fun. Gohan has always enjoyed sparring with his brother or any of their friends really. He's a fighter at heart, but he's not like their father who only ever thinks about fighting.
As Goten flies backward, Gohan recognizes the familiar gathering of Ki and braces himself. He doesn't move, body tense before he knocks the two blasts away from him with his hands.]

[Goten gapes at Gohan, eyes widening. This guy just knocked his blast away with his bare hands! What the heck is he?
Ah-! No time for that now! Goten gathers more Ki in his hands and tosses a couple more small Ki blasts at Gohan, trying to slow him down, before quickly cupping his hands together and pulling them to his side. He focuses even more Ki between his palms. Gotta do this fast! He still can't control this beam too well but Izumo has helped him along with it. Bit by bit.]
Ka..me...Ka..me...
[The bright blue energy in his hands swells. It's the same brilliant shade of blue that he first spotted Gohan using. Goten's a little worried, he hesitant for the smallest second. That worry, though he just met Gohan, reflects in his dark oynx eyes clearly inconstant to the glowing blue hue of the blast. He's only used it on training dummies
and part of a temple...not a living person. But if Gohan can deflect his blasts, then this will be a good test to see how he handles something much stronger. Gohan did say to show him what he's learned....this is part of that!]HAAAA!
[Thrusting his hands forward, the familiar beam flies directly for Gohan]

He knocks more of those Ki blasts away from him before he notices Goten cupping his hands together. Immediately, he feels the surge of Ki forming between his palms.
There's a fleeting thought if he should form his own blast, but the force of two Kamehameha blasts might be enough to destroy the city below them. Instead, he braces himself, waiting for that beam to come at him. In the direction of the blast, the city below is a good target, but Gohan can tell enough that Goten's blast isn't as strong as it should be.
Then again, he doesn't exactly have time to think about it either as he cups his own hands.]
Kamehameha! [Both beams meet head-on.]

Goten tenses when the two beams collide with each other. He half expects there to be a big explosion or something upon impact. There is a wave of power ripples through the air but the beams push at each other. Goten keeps his hands out.
He...he really doesn't know what to do here. The two beams are pushing at one another. While he may not remember what to do, its when Gohan's beams starts to push a little too much that Goten narrows his eyes and tries to push more of his power into his own. Ki is surging from his body and into the beam.]

At least those fighting instincts were still there. Gohan wouldn't be sure what to do if he accidentally hurt his brother while the other had no memories. But it seems his fighting instincts are kicking in.
He resists the urge to turn into a Super Saiyan, to overpower the younger. It's not really his intent to win so much as it is to test out how far along Goten's gotten while being in this place. So, he adds more of his Ki into the beam, a flare of Ki appearing around him in a protective cocoon.]

Wait, what happens if he can't push it back? They're both putting a lot of ki into the struggle....and it's getting closer to him, he can't hold it!
Letting go of the beam, he pushes out his energy around himself like Hakkai taught him. The ki surrounds Goten almost like a protective bubble before the beam over takes him. Clenching his eyes shut and keeps his hands out as he braces for impact. The barrier holds around Goten, preventing the blast from doing any damage. Though he may have put too much energy into too suddenly. It makes him wobble a bit in the air before barrier vanishes and he drops from the sky.]

[Gohan is quick to fly down to his brother, grabbing him and gently holding him as he floats.
He looks down at him, making sure there aren't any injuries. Gohan knows he didn't put in his entire strength into that blast, that wouldn't be fair on Goten at all, but at the same time, he didn't mean to knock his brother out from the sky.
Nimbus comes, floating beside the two demi saiyans as Gohan gently prods Goten.]

He opens his eyes, peeking up at Gohan briefly before blinking several times. A huge smile appears as his eyes light up and he shoots up in Gohan's arms.]
That was so amazing! No matter what I did, I couldn't beat you. You really are strong, Gohan!

He laughs, grinning at him.]
You're pretty strong yourself, Goten. At the rate you're going, you might even be able to beat me one day.

[That would be even better. If he can beat Gohan then maybe one day he can beat Izumo and Hakkai! No way anyone would stand a chance and hurt his friends then.
Is he out of energy? Ki wise, he's tired but he's as excited as ever now.]

[He'll definitely be around for Goten to spar with, at least.
Gohan ruffles his hair, unable to resist the action.]

I will! I will! And I don't want you to let me beat you. That's no fun! But just you wait, Imma keep getting stronger and maybe next time I'll knock you out of the sky.
[If anything this is only encouraging Goten to get stronger and keep training. He's never met someone that could do all the things he could--and then more! Gohan is amazing. He's going to be super tough to beat but Goten isn't really one for giving up either. Stubbornness is also something that runs in their blood.
He laughs at the hair ruffle. For being a new person he only met just minutes prior there's just something about Gohan that makes him feel safe. Like no matter what happens, Gohan will always be there like some kind of super hero. It's a weird fimilar feeling that Goten doesn't focus too much on. It just feels like he's known the teenager all his life.
Of course, that's not true....Gohan must just have something about him. It helps that Nimbus seems fond of him too.]
