TEST DRIVE # 15

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Sneaky Snakes

There are a number of snakes that have become possessed by a bunch of very sneaky ayakashi. They are slithering around, silently, snaring unsuspecting passersby into their trap - their trap to steal money. That's right, these snakes are busy snatching bills and coins from whoever they can. Try to put a stop to their thieving ways, or perhaps get thieved by them yourself.

Tummy Troubles

Many of the customers of a certain restaurant are complaining of the fact that their stomachs hurt after eating there. It could just be food poisoning, but many of these people are winding up in critical condition after a couple of days. It's time to figure out what the heck this cook is actually putting in the food.

Underwhelming Underwear

A family run business has been selling underwear for generations, but the underwear they sell is super boring and bland. Nobody wants to buy from them when cooler underwear is just around the corner. They've asked you to help them bring customers back in - by making their boring underwear seem as cool and hip as possible! How you do that is up to you.

Vividly Violet

There are so many ayakashi making their way through the air that at sunset the sky is turning an absolutely gorgeous shade of purple. Near Shore residents are reacting to this in varying ways. Many are delighted by the beautiful sky, but just as many are terrified that it's a sign of the end of times. Try to take down some ayakashi to make the sky less purple. Or just sit back and watch the beauty.

Wonder Wall

Anyways, there's this college boy who won't stop playing his acoustic guitar. He's from the US and is trying to pick up Japanese chicks. By now he should've somehow realized that they're totally not interested in him. But the song just keeps getting louder and louder and all that the people near the campus can hope is that today is gonna be the day that he stops playing. Maybe you're gonna be the one that saves them.

This Izumo sounds like a good friend of yours. [That's good, at least.

Aaaand there's a new name.

Aymeric. Was this person a god or shinki? Even though Goten just said that this person seems to live with Goten. Guess he'll just have to find out. He laughs, grinning a bit.]

Then let's see if Aymeric wouldn't mind having me over to eat. I don't wanna intrude.

He is! He's one of my best friends! He runs a bar and makes some of the best food.

[Izumo's place is like a home away from home with 'home' being Aymeric's temple.]

I don't think he'd mind-Hey! I know! Gohan! Wanna race there? I've never got to race anyone that could fly before. Well, besides Nimbus but I'm faster!

A bar?

[Goten, why are you going to a bar?! Do you even know what a bar is!?

He blinks before he smiles.]

Sure. It'll be fun, but I don't know what Aymeric'w temple looks like.

Ahuh! I go there all the time! I think he makes funny smelling drinks and stuff too but the food is the best!

[Even if he's repeating himself, he's going to keep calling Izumo's food the best because it is. This bar is his second home Gohan. There's nothing wrong with a child going to a bar!]

OH right. I guess you wouldn't huh?

[Goten pushes his thumb to his mouth thoughtfully as he hums.]

What do you know?

You don't go there at night, do you?

[He needs to talk to this Izumo. WHO LETS A CHILD INTO A BAR? But Gohan doesn't want to do anything to upset Goten either, especially since this Izumo sounds like a good person overall.

A blink before he rubs the back of his head.]

Just where my temple is. How about this? Nimbus knows the direction of the temple, right? We can let Nimbus fly ahead of us and whoever catches up to it at Aymeric's temple wins.

Izumo doesn't let me. Maybe one day...

[Sadly, he doesn't get too. Just before night, Goten is usually sent home much to his disappointment. It does make him curious about it though.

OHH but the race!]

Should I give you a headstart then, Gohan? [grin~!]

Maybe there's a reason.

[He's grown up with Master Roshi, Bulma, and a lot of bad influences, after all. Though, it's only always Master Roshi who gets drunk the most.

He looks amused.]

How about you go first, Goten? [Smiles.] If you're really as fast as you say you are, then you don't need to worry about me catching up to you.

If you say so.

[He's not use to this. No way Gohan can beat him at flying though. He pats Nimbus, giving the cloud the signal to take off. It blasts off ahead, making a course right for Aymeric's temple.]

Just don't get lost, okay?

[And that should give Nimbus just enough of a head start to beat them to Aymeric's. Or at least he thinks so. Giving a wave, Goten blasts off after the yellow cloud. Bye Gohan!]

[Lips quirk up into an amused smile.

He waits a minute, watching Nimbus and Goten blast off, and immediately locks onto his brother's ki. He's not sure if Goten is able to properly sense ki yet or even remembered how to, but at least this way, Gohan wouldn't get lost too much.

It doesn't hurt to cheat a bit.

But once that minute passes, Gohan is quick to fly in the direction of Goten and Nimbus. He's a more experienced flier than Goten, so it wouldn't really take long for him to catch up to the younger demi saiyan.]

[ Goten isn't exactly going full speed either. He's got some speed but he's also worried of leaving Gohan too far behind. He casually glances over his shoulder.

One second there's no sign of the teenager.

The next; he's there and gaining on him!

Goten blinks, tensing up. Oh wow! Time to book it! Gohan is fast after all!

Looking forward again, Goten picks up even more speed, trying to keep ahead.]

[Upon seeing Goten speed up, Gohan holds back a laugh and just keeps on gaining speed.

As soon as he's a bit ahead of Goten, he turns around and begins to fly backwards.]

Come on, Goten!

[Wha....what? How did he...]

....

[Goten stares at him before his eyes narrow and he tries to pick up more speed, putting more power into his flight. He's never had to push to go faster because he already could fly fast but Gohan has proved that he's slow.

His ki flares up around him as he kicks into high gear, pushing past Gohan again--slowly.]

[Gohan hums, grinning widely once he sees Goten's ki flare.

He allows his younger brother to slowly fly past him, seeing just how much energy he's putting into it just in order to remain ahead of Gohan. It really reminds him of Goten and his need to get better, stronger, but this isn't the place for that.

Once Goten is able to get past him, Gohan won't make it easy for him as he speeds past him again.]

[Just when he thinks he's got the lead, Gohan snatches it again. Goten lips tighten into a thin line, he's not sure if he can go any faster. He's already expending a good amount of ki with just this. There's something else deep down he can feel, more power that's inside himself but he can't figure out how to bring that out.

So instead, when Gohan does speed past him, Goten flips around and cups his hands together and shoots a blast that helps propel him forward ahead of Gohan--but he can't do ki blasts the whole way to Aymeric's so when Gohan catches up and starts to pass him yet again, Goten shoots above him just high enough to drop down on the older demi-saiyan's back, hitching a ride.]

Heeheee!

[Goten pants lightly between his giggling as he sits cross legged on Gohan's back. This is even better then Nimbus!]

[That doesn't surprise Gohan at all.

Instead, he just laughs.]

Come on, that's cheating.

[But it's not like he'll shove Goten off.]

I think Izumo or Hakkai would call it....taking advantage of an opera! Or something like that! [Taking advantage of an opportunity, but the meaning is there. Goten just laughs, looking pretty comfortable there as he looks down at Gohan.]

You're amazing, Gohan! I don't think I've ever met anyone like you! You can do everything I can do but better and you're a god!

You mean an 'opportunity'? [Gohan laughs a bit, though. Goten, don't ever change, okay?

But now that they're not racing anymore, he decides to take his time, slowing his pace.]

I don't think me being a god really matters, Goten. [He smiles.] But if you ever wanna work on your control better, I'm happy to help.

[Goten blinks slowly, considering. Was it opportunity?]

Uh, yeah! That!

[Even if Goten can't remember it, Gohan is a good older brother. Super smart too. Nothing will change that. Goten can't keep the smile off his face. This 'first meeting' has been great!]

Really? But you're super strong! Then when you use a shinki you'll be super super strong! I think it sorta matters. Any ayakashi that runs into you is gonna be in trouble.

[It's still a race, one that Goten just plans to win at a little bit of a slower pace especially when Gohan slows down.]

You'd really help me with that? I got a lot of people I train with. That's how I've gotten this strong but if you know more about Chi, I do wanna learn. I don't wanna accidentally blow up more temples.

[Gohan wishes he can say more to Goten about it, especially to correct him that Chi is Ki, but in all essence, they're the same, so he thinks it doesn't really matter much.

Getting Goten back into tip-top shape might be a better concern, actually.][Which means to say, he needs to meet Goten's god. He can only hope Aymeric is kind.

But he gives a nod before pausing.]

You blew up a temple!?

It was an accident! I figured out a new move with Izumo and then met his god later and tried to blast him but it got sent into the temple instead. It's okay though, temples come back in a week. Pretty cool, huh?

[He's slowly moved from feeling guilty about the whole thing, to finding it kind of cool. If Gohan hadn't popped up, he'd probably be tracking Mikoto down for a round two...maybe.]

[Goten, Izumo would give you the Patented Look of Disapproval.

Gohan blinks, bemused. Suddenly, he's glad that back home, they live in such a mountainous area that Goten could practice Ki blasts on those. While it doesn't mean it's necessarily the best idea, it's better than destroying someone's home. He could practically hear their mother now, sobbing and yelling at them.

He could practically feel a bead of sweat slide down his face at the mental image of it.]

Yeah, it is. You might want to practice away from temples next time, though.

[This is all said with Izumo not around. Goten knows he's safe because of how high up in the air they are. Sorry Izumo...it was really cool. The coolest explosion ever!]

Yeah but I didn't plan on practicing there. Mikoto told me to hit him as hard as I could...costed me dessert for a week too...

[Goten huffs a bit at that, sulking. Mikoto just got hit, he should have gotten his dessert taken away for a week too. Or at least Goten thinks so.]

.....Hey Gohan! You should try to blast Mikoto too. I'll introduce you! I bet you could send him flying cause I couldn't!

[This is probably a horrible idea but if it doesn't sound amazing...] You can do even stronger Kamekamehas then me!

[There's a slight look of alarm. Mikoto isn't a Saiyan, is he? So why would he tell Goten to hit him as hard as he could?

Then there's a sound of sympathy. For a Saiyan (and for kids in general) anything related to food as a punishment is bad enough.]

Well, you did blow up their temple, even by accident. [Even if Mikoto was edging Goten on.

.......

Gohan refuses to urge to facepalm.]

I don't think that'd be a good idea, Goten. [Because really, a Super Saiyan going against a King would spell disaster.]

[It'll be okay as long as Izumo didn't go to Aymeric with that punishment. Izumo has the best food and desserts, but Goten can get what he wants from other people. Mainly his god.]

Huh? How c'mon? It's like training! Gohan, I bet you could beat him! [He bounces a bit on Gohan's back in protest. You're suppose to be the cool big brother]

Just don't do it near a temple.

[For all you know, he could have.

Gohan laughs. It's nice to remember just how much confidence Goten has in him.]

Guess we'll have to find out, don't we?

[Gohan grins.]

If only he could fly and we could fight in the sky instead.
