TEST DRIVE # 12



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Daring Drinks

A couple of local bars are going out of their way to make new and interesting drinks for their customers to try, in a long-standing war between the two bars. Of course, they're going a little off the rails, so there are some very interesting - and somewhat scary - combinations popping out of the woodworks. And they want everyone passing by to try them.

Electric Eels

An odd ayakashi is causing some of the eels at the local aquarium to become literally electric, causing the eels to shock the other inhabitants in their tanks. This is causing a pretty big uproar and if it isn't fixed soon, someone could die or the aquarium might even just shut down entirely.

Frog Friend

Large frogs are popping up all over the place and following people around. They don't seem malicious in any way, but they are kind of creepy to look at, brightly colored, and leave trails of slippery goo wherever they stand. Oh, and they like to jump at people and knock them over, just for fun.

Gaseous Grandpas

A local home for older men is having a problem with a number of their inhabitants where they literally cannot stop farting and belching. It turns out this is the work of an ayakashi that just thinks farts and burps are funny and knows it's easier to get those sorts of things out of old people. Help the poor old guys out, would you?

Horrifying Hentai

Many known otaku in the area are dealing with a rather terrifying problem - every hentai they watch lately comes into reality very suddenly. Sometimes this means cute, begging girls, sure, but it also means tentacles and aliens and a whole rash of other things too. You'll have to stop the ayakashi that is bringing these 'fantasies' to life in order to save these guys.

[Yuuri's enthusiasm dims, but honestly, only for a second. There's not much that can get to him when he's too drunk to notice any of his anxieties.]

That's silly, what would I take my clothes off for? I mean, it's a little warm, but...

I'll handle as many of them as possible. I'm not going to kill them. I need to stun them so we can move.

[ He replied nodding his head. ]

Blades of ice! Ice Reaver!

[ The frog gets caught in frozen shards of ice temporarily. ]

C'mon!

[ He turned around quickly and made a grab for her arm ]

But then they'd still be in the tanks.

[Well that's true enough. Why lie when the truth works just as well? He climbs carefully down from his perch, his prize thrashing in his rubber-gloved grip. Into the bin it goes with the other ones.

Xehanort was capable of being responsible! He was remarkably organized at the very least, it was just that the need to know frequently overrode things like common sense. Once he got these things to his laboratory, he--

... is apparently way more predictable than he liked. He doesn't look particularly guilty about it, in fact he's eyeing the aquariums again to see if he can spot another electrical menace. He had been told explicitly to trust his shinki's judgment, and he suspected she was going to think this was a very bad idea.

He needed more of them. Every eel.]

.......It's possible, yes. They'd make a charming addition to the garden, don't you think? I wonder how that ayakashi is even influencing them in this manner. I'd like to study it further.

[Give him even a hairs-breadth of wiggle room and he's going to try to bring that monster back too.]

Aren't you a little curious too?

I don't understand why they had to take it out on a civilian, though. I can understand the need to have competit--- Huh?

[ Oh well, that's great. He steps up his movements as well and starts making a slow run for it. ]

Right.

[ They're shouting some incoherent words at the two as they shuffled faster towards Lavi and Mikleo ]

That's what the shinki I talked to earlier said. Here, let me show you...

[He takes a breath, grounding himself and focusing his thoughts, calling up all the confidence he can muster. Then he raises his hand, pausing for a moment to let her see the position it's held in clearly, and flicks his arm out to the right of his body with a surprising amount of grace for someone as awkward as he can be in other contexts. As his hand begins to move, he calls out the incantation, letting the borderline flash to life from his fingertips.]

A line.

Daring Drinks

[ From behind: ]

He's mine.

[ And placing a hand on his shoulder as he stares down the two bartenders. Just helping a meebo out.]

What if one of us runs into trouble while we're split up, though?

[What about the buddy system??]

[Sir, she's dead, all her growing is done. Amongst other problems.]

[But that's not important right now compared to something else, and Wendy is suddenly grinning. Hey, letting a tough old guy take care of this sounds like a good plan in her book.]

Heroes are supposed to get the girls, right? Maybe she'll be impressed. But are you okay with going down into the sewers where that thing is apparently from?

[ Did you hear what you are saying here!?!! ]

Frog Friend

[ Zero catches sight of her and rushes in to block the frog before it can leap on top of her. The amphibian gets tossed back but somehow manages to twist itself mid-air and land on its hind legs. ]

[ Can this day possibly get any worse?! He stared at the hand that's on his shoulder before slowly removing it. Thanks but no thanks Zero. That's really not how you do it and now these guys are going to stare at the two of them incredulously. ]

People swing that way here still huh? Guess this is what it means to live in the present. Why don't ya help us out too big oniichan?!

I'd say he stays! I don't care if he belongs to you

I'll pass, really.

[ Mikleo moves to get away from all of them. ]

Also-- What are you even saying?!

[YES HE'S ANGRY]

How am I supposed to know?! You're --

[Shit. He doesn't know.

He doesn't know he becomes a one-man burlesque show when he's drunk.

And Yuri can't tell him.

[Funnily enough, the exact weapons Wendy is trying to use now- the big wide eyes of a young girl, general cute demeanor, and the bow in her hair- are the things she knows aren't having the bartenders take her seriously. Apparently even they draw the line at little kids.]

[And... Wendy knows she's a little kid. At least, that's what her body is, so that has to be right, doesn't it?]

[Yet being dismissed so easily has been bothering her more than she can say, so that's why she's here, beaming up at the older boy with her fingers pressed together at the tips.]

I just wanted to try one of the drinks they're handing out! Could you get one for me? I only want to try a little sip.

[moonlitknight]

[ You want to play it that way? Fine. Deal with them on your own little guy.

Zero shrugs, letting him move away. ]

He's not my type.

[water_meebo]

[ Dude, this is not how you help people.... really. ]

Ah-AH not so fast big guy.

[ The persistent bar owner steps right in Zero's way while the other guy was in Mikleo's ]

YA AIN'T GOIIN' NOWHERE UNTIL YOU DRINK OUR STUFF AND TELL US WHO'S BETTER.

[ The Water Seraph heaved a sigh. ]

This isn't helping the situation, you know...?

[ He furrowed his brows as he raised his arms to block the second bar owner. ]

We don't care what the hell you guys are but you ain't leavin'!

[nopixiedust]

Egg?

[For that, she gives a sulky look Otabek's way.]

Well, it wouldn't be a fun game if there wasn't a twist, right? But that should just make it easier for you, honestly!

[There's a bit of hesitation, but after a second the blindfolded snagged pedestrian gives a nod, and from there Wendy lets the bartender do the rest of the work. Her attention is back on Otabek as she speaks up quietly.]

You didn't have to say anything, you know... It wasn't like it was going to hurt, right?

[nopixiedust]

[For running, he doesn't have to worry- Wendy doesn't hesitate in grabbing his hand right back and making a break for it. Despite being a tiny thing, she's pretty quick on her feet.]

[Fear of giant weird frogs is a good motivator too.]

What's even up with these things anyway!?

[ He was going to leave them to you, but now they've officially annoyed him. Zero is done with his, so have a Hunter walking past the first bartender who immediately makes a grab for him only to have his hand pass straight through him. The astonished bartender stand still looking at his hand as if he can't quite make out what happened as Zero reaches the other two. ]

Let's go.

[ He tells him as takes a hold of his arm and pulls him along. ]

[Goodness, what must be in that drink, if one cup's got her like this already. Lara smiles kindly, bobbing her head in an easygoing nod of assent. It would be hard for her to turn down a few drinks with a cute woman like this. Maybe it was because she could relate? It hadn't been but a few years ago she'd been that sheltered, country girl fresh in London after seventeen years in Surrey, mostly on the Croft Manor grounds. Sure she'd taken some expeditions elsewhere, but a flight from Heathrow wasn't quite the same as spending time in the city.

She'd had Sam with her, back then. Her dorm-mate, bright eyed and experienced. And this girl had nobody. A part of her knew, deep down, that she was a alone. That she was dead, cold in the ground and that meant she could use all the friends she could get. Lara nodded again, huffing a laugh and slipping an arm around Felicia's shoulder.]

Of course, love. And never you mind this...Miss business. Call me Lara. And your next drink's on me.

[She took another sip of her own brew, feeling it go straight to her head. Boy, tonight was going to be interesting.]

D'you like pretzels, Felicia? Or would you prefer some rice crackers?

[Xehanort is right on the dot, because-]

No.

[She doesn't even have to think about it that hard. Placing her hands on her hips, Wendy merely quirks an eyebrow at him as he carefully comes down from on top of the upturned trash can. While there's no way she's ever going to win a battle in height, she can at least make herself seem sturdy and thus incapable of being moved.]

Not even talking about all the ways it's a bad idea, can these things even live in the gardens? If they're in an aquarium, that probably means they need a lot of care, right?

[darkhorrse]

It's a lie.

[ By omission, and Otabek doesn't like lies. ]

The drink was meant for me.

[ Meaning it directly involved him. So, if he'd gone along with it, then that would have made him a liar. ]

I don't push things off on other people.

[nopixiedust]

Yuuri....

[She gestures at the two of them.]

Even if we were with each other, the two of us would just be running away anyway.

But look- we have our phones, right? If anything happens, we can call each other! So we won't really be separated, will we? Everything will be okay.

[nopixiedust]

Technically, I pushed it onto other people.

[She's honest in that respect, at least.]

I like to think I was at least a little more honest than the bartenders were... I mean, they didn't even say anything about what you'd have to do, right?

[water_meebo]

[ He's glad that she didn't reject his hand and they were tearing past the frogs one by one with a considerable amount of speed. Whenever they were momentarily stopped, Mikleo would use his artes to stun them so that they would be able to make some space between them and the frogs. They were leaping really crazily though. ]

Duck!

[ He shouts as they moved to another direction. ]

I don't know! They don't exude any sort of dangerous aura. On top of that I think they're just messing with us.

[water_meebo]

[ Mikleo didn't get a chance to say anything to either of the two men as he was yanked off by Zero. WEll this turned out to be a really strange day and weird too. ]

Al-Alright!

[ He manages to muster as he was being moved. The two bar owners were completely shocked and dazed. The second one makes a leap at Zero for taking his potential customer. Only the potential customer didn't want to be a customer at all. ]
