Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Echoing Endlessly
Many people in the area are complaining about a strange echo following them around. It never seems to go away and, in fact, collects more and more echoes with each passing moment, creating a cacophony of sound. There have been reports of a few people slowly going crazy because of this echoing. It's your job to find what's causing it and put an end to the echoes!
The new craze has swept over the city! Everything French is so in right now, and everyone wants something newer and Frenchier to make them stand out from the crowd. Just your luck, you happen to have something very French you can peddle - or maybe you can convince someone just how French your very Japanese things are!
A very strange old shinki has left you with a very simple request: guard this door and don't let anyone through. It looks like a totally normal door on a totally normal house! You might be curious to peek through it, but it's locked and you were told not to go through yourself either...
There's an ayakashi roaming around that is literally just hundreds of hands that randomly grab people and things and move them around before disappearing. The odd thing is that they are... actually doing good things? Maybe it's a scheme to suck people into a plagued afterlife without being caught, or maybe they just really want to help people out.
There's a certain street in the downtown area that has some of the craziest rumors being spread about it. Apparently going down this street will just bring you back to the entrance, but when you turn around to head back you'll only find yourself at the entrance again. Moreover, there are a lot of creepy things that whisper and appear as you walk, more with each turn you make...

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!

[What a lively man this is. Jae-Ha is fond already. When so few people can see you for more than a few seconds, he's desperate for any and all interaction, really— but it's always nice when it turns out to be fun.
They're walking, despite the protests, so he'll take that.]
I'm open to any suggestions, of course. You can always read into the clues and cut the time, but I have no idea what any of this means, just yet.
no subject
Hazel's paid barely any attention to the writing that's appeared, though, busy as he has been leaning against walls instead of looking at them, but he'll let that go with a hum and walk along in silence for a little bit. So...]
Now, unless I'm truly imaginin' things, someone around here has been carryin' on with all that mutterin' for ages. Tell me that ain't just me.
[He's too beautiful to be going crazy! Spare him.]
no subject
[Actually, that's the main reason he hadn't said anything about it himself. He was worried. He's actually really relieved to hear he's not imagining things. He laughs.] Kidding! I hear it, but I can't quite make out what's being said...
Or the direction it's coming from, for that matter. [It's troubling... So all he can do is face ahead and wait for the street to pull them both back to the beginning.] Can you understand any of it?
no subject
...Not a damn thing. It's right perplexin'. [He'd come to stop to listen and now steps forward again, haltingly, like counting steps from here will help them figure out how long before the street sends them back.]
It's either comin' from everywhere, or somewhere up there. [He points up - the sky, apparently. This is how acoustics work, isn't it?? No, Hazel.]
no subject
[Hmm. Well, he'd obediently shut up for just long enough that Hazel could listen. But now he's letting his head tilt back so he can follow the point upwards. The sky?]
Should I go check?
no subject
Be my guest.
no subject
[Well, it's not like he thinks anything is up there anyway, but he's been Wondering about this strange trap and whether or not he could escape it this way. So, he jumps. No parkouring, just a straight shot up like he's superman or something...
His image probably disappears in the sunlight for a moment before reappearing again... and then he's slamming down elegantly to the ground besides Hazel again. He probably brings a huge gust of wind with him, too.]
There was nothing. [That's his grand announcement. He flips his bangs a little.] But it does work as a way out, if all else fails.
no subject
the hell is he seeing, excuse this freak?? It takes Hazel a moment to realize Jae-Ha has vanished into the air, so by the time he thinks to look up, Jae-Ha is already coming down. He has to grab his hat to keep it from blowing off, and then he's much less interested in the mysterious voices than before-]
Pardon my askin', but what kinda man can jump that high whenever he pleases? There a trick to that?
[Or is he..... A DEMON THAT SHOULD BE MURDERED POSTHASTE!!!!!]
no subject
[Calm down, demon racist, he's only a little bit monster. Aren't they all, now? It's fine. He's never been very shy about hiding this anyway, and though he doesn't have any memories of that, it just comes naturally to be so open about it.
He gestures out with one of his hands to Hazel.] It's an ability of mine. If you'd like, I could take you next time. I don't usually offer this to men, but seeing that we're both trapped...
no subject
And is that a come-on? Is jumping really the thing to be hitting on folks with, stranger??]
Ya think we'd have an easier time on the roof?
[Ultimately, he does not want to skulk around this alley forever.]
no subject
[So yes, he'd rather be on the roof. So just like that, he hunches over a little and holds out his hands behind him like he's ready to offer a piggyback. Romantic.]
Come on, hop on! It'll be fast, so long as you're not heavier than you look.
no subject
You're kiddin', right?
[Stays where he is....]
no subject
Even if you're small, I don't usually make a habit of carrying men in my arms.
no subject
If ya wanted to get close to me, friendship was sure to take its course sooner or later. [Just saying... pressed up against his back is still pretty dude-on-dude, friend.] Are we at an impasse already?
no subject
It would go against my moral code to leave you behind. [And that would sting Yona... not that he'd think about it anyway. So here, scooping Hazel up.]
Does this suit you, princess? [Is he happy enough, can he jump]
no subject
It's Hazel, if ya don't mind. Let's not stand here collectin' dust.
no subject
[Not a bad name. Here they go, he jumps, a lot higher than he needs to, definitely on purpose— but worry not, they land gracefully on one of the tallest rooftops along the street, and Jae-Ha is quick to set him down gently with a smile.]
It's nice to meet you. My name is Jae-Ha. It seems we're temporary partners. [Friendship?? Friendship.] Now then, let's see if we can get a better look at things from here.
no subject
[Except birds. Anyway, he doesn't hesitate before walking right over to the roof's edge to peer down.]
Ya don't happen to have magic eyes on top of magic feet? [magic feet........]
no subject
[Don't talk about feet, that's not beautiful. Magic doesn't pass, either... But he'll work with this sass as he steps over to the edge of the roof and peers down.]
If an ayakashi truly is behind all of this, won't it be easier to see any strange behavior from above? Movement that doesn't belong to a human, or a person behaving strangely... Well, either way, I happen to like the breeze.
[Jae-Ha... is he even really helping?? Does he know what he's doing? No, he's following pirate instinct.]
no subject
[WELL, that's fine. That will have to be fine, now that they're up on a rooftop and this man is probably his only hope of getting down quickly.]
Puttin' that aside for now, [weird leggie guy] why don't ya have a look at that end of the street? It doesn't look like it's goin' through a loop from up here, does it?
no subject
[Don't be rude, he's not a weirdo at all. But that's a good point. He'll glance down the street to the end.] Hmm, so it doesn't. From the ground, it hadn't seemed off until you were pulled to the start again, either.
[So what is it? He covers his mouth with his hand as he thinks. After a moment, he casually pulls a kunai out of nowhere with his free hand.]
I wonder if an object would pass through on its own? [Should he really just be chucking weapons freely, maybe not]
no subject
How many of those are ya willin' to spare?
[LOOK, they're... not his weapons, so whatever. Throw them everywhere.]
no subject
[So, he throws it. And... well, from up here, it's a little easier to see the strange distortion in that exact area as the knife vanishes and appears back at the front, dropping onto the ground and losing momentum.]
Ah, so our culprit must be close to the end of that spot, I'd think! You know, if we stand around long enough, it may just become eager enough to greet us.
no subject
It ain't really our business anymore, is it? We're already up here.
[They could just go, over the rooftop down into the next street, away from whatever's controlling that one end of one street. It's not important in the grand scheme of things... but also, it pisses him off.]
But I can't take kindly to a mysterious somethin' tryin' to make a fool out of me. Let's try goin' for it from up here.
[He doesn't wait for Jae-Ha, already turning on his heel to march off along the rooftop toward whatever's roughly parallel to that spot.]
no subject
[Jae-Ha runs after him for a few steps, his hands raised to get him to pause.] We should exchange a bit more information first, shouldn't we? Are you a god or a shinki?
