Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Echoing Endlessly
Many people in the area are complaining about a strange echo following them around. It never seems to go away and, in fact, collects more and more echoes with each passing moment, creating a cacophony of sound. There have been reports of a few people slowly going crazy because of this echoing. It's your job to find what's causing it and put an end to the echoes!
The new craze has swept over the city! Everything French is so in right now, and everyone wants something newer and Frenchier to make them stand out from the crowd. Just your luck, you happen to have something very French you can peddle - or maybe you can convince someone just how French your very Japanese things are!
A very strange old shinki has left you with a very simple request: guard this door and don't let anyone through. It looks like a totally normal door on a totally normal house! You might be curious to peek through it, but it's locked and you were told not to go through yourself either...
There's an ayakashi roaming around that is literally just hundreds of hands that randomly grab people and things and move them around before disappearing. The odd thing is that they are... actually doing good things? Maybe it's a scheme to suck people into a plagued afterlife without being caught, or maybe they just really want to help people out.
There's a certain street in the downtown area that has some of the craziest rumors being spread about it. Apparently going down this street will just bring you back to the entrance, but when you turn around to head back you'll only find yourself at the entrance again. Moreover, there are a lot of creepy things that whisper and appear as you walk, more with each turn you make...

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!

Well, let's see... [He takes a cookie to try. It could be better, but he studiously does not make a face because Jae-Ha might look disappointed about his crappy vending machine cookies.]
They're one of a kind.
no subject
[Ah, he's so pleased. Hazel was a new face, one he didn't recognize, and he'd been through this city countless times, so clearly that meant he was relatively new. Within the last week or so, surely! Humans were easy to lose track of, but shinki and gods... They stood out.]
Now, you'll have to tell me if you've ever seen something like this before! This way.
[Holding the cookies, he takes another and nibbles on it a bit as he walks, holding out the package to Hazel. Take another as he shows him this magical... bus stop. He sits on the bench.]
If we are lucky, a strange carriage will come any minute to transport us slowly and almost-dangerously through the city.
no subject
And, ah... now they're at a bus stop. Hazel looks at Jae-Ha evenly for a moment - maybe he's being messed with - then hums and looks past him, to wherever they keep bus schedules for this mystery carriage.]
It'll be here in ten, give or take a few. Don't ya ride the bus more than this?
no subject
[Oh, Hazel knows about this? That's less fun, but he's interested. He hums, holding his chin thoughtfully.] I simply go wherever I need to go in the same way I took you here. But it's been entertaining to watch people...
[A little sad they don't notice him, though. He drops his hand from his chin and pats the seat next to him, instead.] How do you know how long it takes?
no subject
Ya need a hobby, friend. [But never mind that. He leans over to point helpfully at the schedule. Does he need to be this close? No. But listen,]
If ya know how to read and tell time, it's as easy as lyin'!
no subject
[He has no hobbies and he is a lonely man who wants attention. But nevermind that, Hazel is now in his space and he's blinking at this mystery schedule that... he can't make any sense of. Ah...
His pride is being ruined slowly.]
Ahaha... I see. [Stares at it longer. Hmm. Yes, this makes no sense.] I'll have to keep this in mind.
no subject
If it's that big a mystery, I could teach ya.
no subject
No, thank you.
[His pride has been wounded beyond repair. How could he possibly accept lessons from some random man, on top of it...!! At least a cute girl...]
Oh, I can see it from here. [He straightens back up at the sight of the bus down the street, pointing it out.] Why don't we take it and stop wherever we please?
no subject
Tell me ya got a destination in mind, at least. I'll settle for a couple maybes.
no subject
The third stop! [Where does that end? He has no idea.] But if you see somewhere you'd like to go on the way, I can be convinced to stop early.
no subject
Maybe I can be convinced to take in a lil mystery. Let's see this third stop. [it's just a bus. Because he is very generous, he will let Jae-Ha have the window seat.]
no subject
[It could be worse. Eat more friend bakery cookies, new pal. As soon as he gets this lovely window seat, he takes another for himself, peering curiously around the bus itself.]
It's good for even me to rest my feet once in a while. [The buses are horrible, he's realized, but that's endearing in a way when you're free to fly wherever you want to be on time.] I wonder if there were "bus" where I came from? With your memories in tact, you must have so many adventures to share. Why not share them with me some time?
no subject
no subject
Adventures, huh...]
Now, don't get your hopes up on lil old me. I wouldn't call what I do much like adventurin', but I could tell ya some tales sometime. I've been a busy man for someone of my years.
[all 20 of them]
no subject
Over drinks? [Everyone else here seems to instantly tell him they're underaged if they are, so, as long as he gets an acceptance, then he can assume Hazel is older than him!
Well, it's a large stretch of logic, but he's hopeful. He wants to seem youthful, himself...]
Tales of whatever type are fascinating when you have none of your own.
no subject
It'd be my pleasure. [He'll tell stories about bus... no.] And we'll see, we'll see - it ain't a guarantee that I'll have enough tales appropriate for tellin' in polite company.
[He means
because of all the murder, but.]
no subject
Wonderful! Then, while we're waiting to get to our third stop, let's exchange numbers.
[He whips out his cell phone just like that. This is the one thing he's learned.]
no subject
Hang on a minute- how do ya spell 'Jae-Ha'?
[don't let him get it wrong because it will be wrong forever on purpose]
no subject
Let's do it this way. [Easier, right? So, he inputs his name as Jae-Ha ♥ and fills in his number before holding it out for him to take back.]
no subject
There sure is a heart... he's never met someone more desperate than himself, wow.]
Well, I'll give ya a ring when I've got a cravin' for wine and storytellin'.
no subject
I'll look forward to it.
[The bus screeches to a halt for the third time, and Jae-Ha hops to his feet.] Here we are! Let's see where I've taken us...
[Because he sure doesn't know. Off the bus they step, he eats another cookie, and... There's a huge, closed furniture store.]
no subject
That's a closed store. What are they going to do with a closed store?]
Well, since we came all this way... Let's check it for ayakashi.
[BREAK IN]
no subject
Now, that doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. [Breaking and entering? Well, he probably shouldn't, but this is exciting. Where's the harm? They won't steal, no one can see them... It's a very large store, and it should be protected!]
What do you think? Should we be subtle and go through a side entrance, or is the front just as well?
no subject
We're just a couple of fine-lookin' and deeply concerned men checkin' up on this place to see if it's got a nasty infestation problem.
[Sooo that makes them - fake janitors!] Side entrance's for that kinda maintenance, I'd say.
no subject
[The main entrance is too obvious! Someone will notice them, and then they wouldn't be harmless janitors. They'd be breaking and entering. But from the side, it's no problem at all! Thinking like this is how he doesn't harm Yona, so it's fine in the end, surely...
He practically floats along to the side of the building in his eagerness, leaving Hazel to do what he will with the cookie box as he finds the side door.]
Here we are! [It only takes a few seconds to wave Hazel over.] Hmm, but I'm no good at picking locks. Should I kick the door down?
