Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Echoing Endlessly
Many people in the area are complaining about a strange echo following them around. It never seems to go away and, in fact, collects more and more echoes with each passing moment, creating a cacophony of sound. There have been reports of a few people slowly going crazy because of this echoing. It's your job to find what's causing it and put an end to the echoes!
The new craze has swept over the city! Everything French is so in right now, and everyone wants something newer and Frenchier to make them stand out from the crowd. Just your luck, you happen to have something very French you can peddle - or maybe you can convince someone just how French your very Japanese things are!
A very strange old shinki has left you with a very simple request: guard this door and don't let anyone through. It looks like a totally normal door on a totally normal house! You might be curious to peek through it, but it's locked and you were told not to go through yourself either...
There's an ayakashi roaming around that is literally just hundreds of hands that randomly grab people and things and move them around before disappearing. The odd thing is that they are... actually doing good things? Maybe it's a scheme to suck people into a plagued afterlife without being caught, or maybe they just really want to help people out.
There's a certain street in the downtown area that has some of the craziest rumors being spread about it. Apparently going down this street will just bring you back to the entrance, but when you turn around to head back you'll only find yourself at the entrance again. Moreover, there are a lot of creepy things that whisper and appear as you walk, more with each turn you make...

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!

More importantly: the nice couch. Hazel takes a seat first this time, decides it is comfortable enough for him, and pats the cushion beside him.]
Here, get familiar with somethin' luxurious.
no subject
[He falls elegantly into the cushion, leaning back on the couch as he contemplates the comfort. It is nice. Fine silks and the like are one thing, but... He runs his hand over the small bit of cushion between them.]
Some type of leather? [He assumes...] It is comfortable, isn't it? Somehow, it's even better than the bed I was given in my own temple...
[Why did they end up with a cheap beach house, he still wonders.]
no subject
It's a fine quality, that's for sure.
[Hmm...]
Your temple gotta some kinda problem?
no subject
It's hideous. [That's the main offense.] I'm too tall for the bed, but aside from that, it seems... broken.
[Mattresses are weird, so he can't be sure.]
no subject
How do ya figure? Rollin' off at night a problem for ya?
no subject
[Hazel's sympathy was touching, even if Jae-Ha doesn't deserve it right now.]
no subject
[Look, he can keep it up for only so long.]
no subject
[In his case, not so much!! Just saying.]
no subject
There's always the floor, if ya can't manage to roll over.
no subject
[No he won't. Fight him, tiny man!! He enjoys the thrill of these jabs.]
no subject
Now that's just unseemly. I've got a spare pillow I can loan ya.
no subject
[A surprise Jae-Ha in the night, jumping outside the window. It's a nice image. He sinks a little more into this 'suede' couch.]
no subject
[This is a real promise. Promise him.]
no subject
Because it's you, I'll knock. [He places his hand over his heart like it's a promise.] If you're lucky, I may even call first.
no subject
How flatterin'. That honey tongue must get ya pretty far.
[what]
no subject
Far enough that you're still here. [So smooth!! But he laughs again, looking curiously across this entire store they have free reign of.] I hope you're more adventurous than going through with our stakeout on only one couch the entire time.
no subject
You're already gettin' sick of the suede? It's a fine piece of furniture.
[But he could probably sit. On another couch. Since that is apparently the goal.]
no subject
[Goodness, Hazel. He stands up, brushing his robe off as he takes a few steps forward and then spins to face him again.] If we stay in one spot for too long, ayakashi really will show up.
no subject
That's an awfully damnin' point. Your turn to pick one, then.
no subject
Hmm, my choice? Let's see...
[For once, he doesn't pick a green couch. He decides to sit down on a very fine italian leather couch. Somehow, in this japanese ikea wannabe.]
This one.
no subject
Well, it ain't green.
[He noticed!!]
no subject
[As if he doesn't Know his own bias, here. Continuing to worry wherever and whenever he pleases, he crosses one of his legs over the other and leans a little closer to Hazel.]
It's comfortable! You don't like it? Are you still stuck on suede?
no subject
[He waves a hand, because he was totally judging, but he's judged that Jae-Ha being kind of one-note about green is endearing somehow. He leans a little closer himself as he drops his hand back down, seemingly getting more comfortable. Lewd shoulder bump acquired.]
Leather's squeakier than an old wheel on a particularly bad day. [hazel] A man's allowed to have preferences.
no subject
Preferences for suede? There's no need to hide your opinions for my sake! I don't recognize couches like these at all. The materials are even more of a mystery.
[He just knows leather is a thing, so he went towards it... Do they make silk couches? He wonders if a silk couch would feel nice.]
no subject
Are ya seriously sayin' couches are a big ol' question mark? [Well... he doesn't look like he's from the West, and he didn't know what buses were...
Maybe he's just a hick.]
It ain't the be all end all of what's what, but how much of this stuff is a mystery to ya?
