Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Keening Karaoke
For some reason, karaoke clubs have suddenly popped up all over the Heavens. Not only that, but they are the big new hotspot for residents of the Far Shore to hang out at and everyone around you has been pressuring you to join them. Do you continue to fight back or give in to the peer pressure weighing you down?
Everyone believes that white lies do no harm, so the people of the Near Shore are happy to use small lies whenever they need to. Tiny ayakashi have been springing from these little lies and are now teaming up to form into a huge ayakashi, and it keeps getting bigger with every passing moment!
With spring in the air, the season of weddings is upon the Near Shore, and boy do the people of Japan seem eager to get married this year. In fact, it's so crazy trying to book anything that there are literally hundreds of prayers being sent up asking for monetary deals as well as luck with finding the right place to marry. Help some poor people out.
A cursed necklace has sprung up in the city and there are a lot of people dying because of it. The weird thing is that no one who has actually worn the necklace has died, just everyone around them. This cursed necklace has fallen into the hands of a depraved young man who is more than happy to use its bad luck in order to start 'taking out the trash' of the world...
As the temperature rises, so do the skirts of teenage girls. Unfortunately, there are a lot of pubescent boys who are more than happy to take a gander whenever they can. Catching some peeping toms, how is a resident of the Far Shore supposed to react? Or even warn the poor girl who's being spied on?

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!
Ky Kiske | Guilty Gear Xrd | Shinki
Karaoke
[ It isn't that Ky hates music or anything — honestly, he can appreciate a lovely tune or two — it's just that he's certain it has nothing to do with his duties and, therefore, very low on his list of priorities. Very very low. So low that he's just about bending backwards trying to dodge any insistent invitations to go singing with others. After laying out excuse after excuse, he's finally just admitting the truth and hoping that will stick this time. ]
I appreciate your invitation, [ he says tiredly to the one trying to convince him, ] I truly do. However, I have duties I must attend to at this time and I cannot leave them to go singing with you.
Necklace
[ Ky stalks down the street like a predator, eyeing corners and checking addresses of buildings nearby as he passes by. He's trying to trace locations and find clues that will lead him to the identity of the disturbed young man who has decided to play executioner. It matters little that the targets are criminals or other unsavory individuals; too many people have died already, including other bystander innocents and investigators to the case. Such losses are unforgivable, and this cannot continue for much longer. Ky is determined to find the culprit and seek justice for the innocents who were slain, even if it means heading out on his own to investigate before his God has a chance to accompany him.
It will be quicker this way, he's certain. He'll give his God a full report once he's discovered something new.
Small sparks of electricity dance between his fingertips as he continues his work. Frowning deeply, he's soon lost in his thoughts and losing track of time as the sun begins to set behind him. ]
Ogling
[ As much as Ky wants to warn the girls, he'd much rather deal with these perverted young boys, first. Sure, youth might be one excuse, but that is all the more reason to make sure they learn their lesson now before they grow up to be depraved men. It's the least anyone would do, right?
Deciding to remain unseen for now, Ky opts for attracting as much attention to the youngsters as he can. He does this by sending little sparks at the boys trying to sneakily lean for a view. The sparks aren't anything deadly — it feels more like the sting from some very strong static electricity — but it's enough to send a couple troublesome kids yelping and drawing attention to themselves in an incredibly noisy way.
Hopefully, this will teach them. But Ky hangs around the commotion for just a moment longer just to make sure, humming to himself as he watches. ] Hmm.
no subject
Quietly coming closer to the guy he recognizes him as one of the new shinki, Ky. But, if he's new, how can he use a spell like that? So Yukine asks softly,]
How did you do that?
no subject
I'm not entirely certain, [ he admits. ] It seems to come somewhat naturally, and the Lord I serve avoided any questions I asked about it.
[ He looks down at his own hand, a concerned expression on his face. ] Those small ones are all I can do.

It's terrible how some young men just never learned their manners, isn't it?

Indeed, but it isn't too late for them yet. Hopefully, they will learn their lesson from this incident and revise their ways.

Flynn l Shin Megami Tensei IV | Shinki
[Flynn had been hearing the term Karaoke Clubs in many a conversation and couldn't help but feel a little curious. People have asked him before but he would always be pulled away to take care of something before he could get an answer. Today however there was very little going on for him. It doesn't take a whole lot of persistence; just some time to deliberate on his part before he nods his head in affirmation.]
I shall accompany you to this Karaoke Club. I have been curious about them for a while now.
[Little Lies]
[The ayakashi were becoming more and more numerous. As such, they were beginning to congregate together in a horde before slowly forming into a larger body. Flynn had been keeping an eye on them when he took notice and he'd been sure to let the God he was in service to know about the situation.]
What shall we do?
[While he could draw lines it would do little more than block off the ayakashi. It wouldn't vanquish them and the larger ayakashi would start to cause more trouble.]
[Marriage Madness]
[More couples were coming by and the prayers kept piling and piling on top of each other one after the other. Money was the most common subject within the prayers among other things. There were also prayers for everything to run smoothly as well.
Flynn watched them come and go until the crowds started to thin out until the shrine was empty and the sun was beginning to set. It was at that time that he would look over all of the prayers. There a few that were different from the usual but monetary assistance still dominated as usual.]
no subject
At least he has a name and a rough description to go by, so he'll be able to check in on the new shinki quickly then go home.
Walking into the shrine it is easy enough to find Flynn, standing alone in front of the prayers. It looks like he is reading them carefully, which is good.
Approaching quietly Yukine starts reading some for himself. Wow, there sure are a lot of requests for money!]
It's not like we can help with money troubles much, huh.
[He's not exactly talking to him, but it will probably get his attention.]
no subject
He regards him once more and nods his head in agreement with his statement. For being the most common request there really was only so much that could be done to answer them.]
Yes. It's rather unfortunate.

[Should Raidou use his god powers immediately? Or should he wait and save to them for when he actually needs them? That is a question, but... He's drawing his sword and gun anyway. He'll definitely start with the abilities that he does know and is used to.]

Toboe | Wolf's Rain | Shinki
[Toboe was gently invited to one of the Far Shore's karaoke clubs, insofar as "you should stop by one sometime", and he's kind of tailed a group into one. And inside, he's... listening, certainly, with great interest - hearing people chatting and hangin' out, listening to music he's never heard before, watching the mouth movements of each person who steps up to the mic...
Wallflowering, in short. With his human illusion up and his eyes big with curiosity.
He doesn't know if he's ever sung before, but it sounds fun. And he can hold a note, so... how hard to jump into it can it be? Maybe he'll try to edge his way up to the mic when there's an opening - then again, he, once again, doesn't know any of these songs...
Maybe if he gets... backup?
He picks a spot near the microphone from which to scan for a prospective indulging duet partner, appearing leaning against the wall with hands clasped behind his back, glancing left, right, and... hello, that person seems to be looking at the stage with what mmmmight be interest! He shuffles forward with a hand up - ]
Uh -- hey!
[Aaand he stumbles over his own feet for a second, whoops, but recovers - makes eye contact, holds it for a beat with his mouth ever-so-slightly open.]
Um... I was wondering if... [Hand to his chest. Works on a hopeful smile. Voice is quiet-ish but light and bright.] ...if you would let me sing with you!
B. Marriage Madness
[Toboe doesn't have much of a head for money or formality. He's been paying as much attention as he can to the prayers from couples coming in regardless of exactly what each one's concerned - but the ones concerning paying or planning have been kind of blending together for him, not that he's happy about that. Those wishing for a perfect venue to open up before the end of the season, however, have stood out to him, getting him racking his brain for and wondering what a perfect venue for something like a wedding would be.
And after another one of those prayers, he eventually speaks up kind of emphatically, voice hopefully lifted.]
There's gotta be a forest or a field we could take some of the people to.
-- Like, getting married is supposed to be special, right? [Not that he'd know. Still, his voice gets off to a simultaneously dreamy and actually pretty stoked flow as he continues.] What if we led the people over to a beautiful place full of flowers and sunshine just for them?
Oh -- [BLINK, ears pricking.] -- b-but we'd have to find a priest, too, right...?
[And a lot of them are probably busy with weddings as it is.]
Karaoke!
[What a cute, polite kid. Hakkai can't help but be charmed, and although he's not really fond of drawing attention to himself, either, he supposes one song wouldn't be too bad.]
... Well, all right.
[He holds up one finger and heads off for the little shelf next to the stage where the listing of songs is, and in a few seconds is on his way back with the heavy laminated tome in hand.]
Let's find a song!
(no subject)

Oddly some of the songs seem vaguely familiar. Maybe he's heard them in the mall before or something.
That doesn't mean he wants to try singing them.
(But his showing interest in one of those 'familiar' songs might have been when Toboe glanced his way.)
When the boy shinki stumbles towards Yukine and asks so darn brightly--]
That implies that I was going to sing in the first place. Which I'm not. So no.

marriage madness~
Especially now. She won't get to have a future with him now.
But that's all right, because she can give supplicants their dream wedding, or at least try to. That's what she's thinking of as Toboe speaks. She nods at him, smiling at the thought of a sunny day and countless blooming blossoms.
And then -- the priest bit. Elsa frowns.]
I'm not sure how it works in Japan, but where I come from, just about anyone can get ordained on the internet and have the legal power to marry someone. And judges can marry someone, too. I imagine all the shrines and temples here are booked by now, but maybe we can get someone -- a friend or a family member of the couple -- to get ordained?
Cho Hakkai | Saiyuki | Shinki
Oh dear.
[He balances the phone between his ear and shoulder, flipping through a glossy magazine full of wedding destinations.] And you're sure? Booked until August? My, you must be popular! Mm hm. Yes.
I'm afraid you're the fifteenth place to tell me the same thing... are you very sure you can't find an afternoon in late April? Of course the party wouldn't take very long, and if you -- no? Couldn't I schedule a visit at least? We're willing to pay extra for --
[He pauses, takes the phone away from his ear, and looks at it.]
They hung up on me.
Do you think we should go convince them in person?
Necklace Nuisance
[Hakkai is elbowing his way through a thick crowd on the overpass above the Shibuya train tracks, for once not bothering to beg anyone's pardon. There's a man in a dark blue hoodie up ahead, leaning against the railing, and glinting through the half-open zipper at his neck is something golden set with red gems.
Another person, a middle-aged man in an expensively cut suit, stops next to the man in the hoodie. Hakkai's eyes narrow. They're speaking together. The older man's body language isn't friendly; he takes out a phone and waves it aggressively, but the man with the necklace on just smiles.
Yes, he's certain. This must be the young man they're looking for. Which means that the older man--
Train wheels clack below, and Hakkai breaks into a sprint.]
(other! feel free to pick your own scenario.)
no subject
And now it's come to this. He can see a necklace on the guy in the blue hoodie. But just as he's wondering how he'll get the necklace now that he's found it, he notices a guy dashing towards the two men.]
Wha-? Oi, you're gonna scare them off-!

The moment Raidou notices the shinki, he knows he should catch the man's attention somehow, because two are better than one, but with how focused they are, and how quickly the situation has escalated, Raidou knows there's no time. Damn if the pictures of wedding food aren't making his stomach growl, though...
The sudden interruption in Hakkai's questioning breaks his attention, and he glances up, chin momentarily leaving his hand and thoughts of eating an entire five-tiered wedding cake temporarily on hold. It'd probably make his stomach hurt anyway, but it'd be sooooo worth it.]

Mai Taniyama | Ghost Hunt | Shinki
[Ah spring. It's good to see the cold receding even if Mai can't say she hates the winter and cold itself. Everyone around her seems to be in better spirits though so she's happy to embrace the warmer days and evenings.
This evening though it seems like the weather isn't the only warm thing wandering around outside. Mai is still very much a teenager in spirit and while she can't recall any of her life, she doesn't feel like she dislikes typical teenage activities. So she's doing a little window shopping, mingling around students of various schools as they make their ways home or out with friends after school.
It's walking down a set of stairs that she passes a group of schoolgirls making their way upward and as they pass, her eyes happen to catch something just over the railing. The sides of the staircase are clear and there bunched around it's edge is a trio of highschool boys. It takes her a second or so to piece together what's going on, then she abruptly freezes in her tracks.]
Wait a second. Are they...
[They are. Her brow furrows quickly and she just can't help yelling out.]
Hey wait a second! What do you guys think you're doing?!
[BUSTED. The guys in question start backwards as a group, then flee in a panicked run. And really that should be it but Mai seems more than a little determined to give them an earful of a lecture.]
DON'T RUN AWAY FROM ME!
no subject
So one of the boys in the group being yelled at doesn't actually run away. In fact, he's so dazed by watching up the skirts of the cute girls going upstairs that he doesn't even realize that there is someone yelling.
And glaring.
And maybe coming towards him, oops.]

Honestly, Rise wasn't looking for danger in particular. She had actually been tailing Hope because, well... can she help it if she thinks he's cute?
Plus, he seemed to have something of a clue as to what was going on. Or that's how it looked to her. This whole not being able to remember thing really didn't sit well with her at all, and judging from those magical swirls, he seemed to at least know herself.
Being put on the spot like that is a little disconcerting and she glances multiple times between the boy and the ayakashi. She's just a Shinki without a master.]

strap on your ogle goggles
Then there's a tug at his sleeve, dragging him from such ruminations to look down at a young boy. Of course, by now he knows better than to think he's only that, even if he's only seen him in passing up to this point. He opens his mouth to respond, closing it again as he follows the tip of his head to the very concern he'd been focused on earlier. Doubtless a god has reasons to want such things addressed, even if Slaine can't divine what they are]
They are brazen, aren't they?
[About the most polite way he can address the matter of boys who'd be his peers being total cads. He could ask if the god beside him has a plan, of course, but...]
Perhaps if we asked her for directions.
[That ought to alert her without being too obtrusive, but it comes as more of a suggestion than anything else, because he is quite aware of hierarchy. For some reason, he's very cognizant of this sort of thing, even if he's unsure why]

Yuko "Isako" Amasawa | Dennou Coil | Shinki
[ Thus far, this pursuit hasn't yielded fruit, and Isako would be lying if she hadn't been curious on what any of the gods would ultimately decide to do with their evasive perpetrator. Her voice is low, not as to hint at being sympathetic in the slightest, but more on as to soak in the severity of the situation. ]
--What do you think will happen, once they're caught? It is technically attempted murder, they can't just be left alone.
[ Things like this probably sound worse coming from someone who appears around twelve. ]
> Ogling
[ Normally Isako would fancy herself as having much better things to do than pelting tiny stones at perverts' heads from an opposite rooftop (or at least, she hopes that she did while she was still alive), but as things were--it ended up being a surprisingly amusing way to pass the time while also shutting down their "little sins". Yep, this is an ideal and totally legit way to use their invisibility to the normal world. ]
Ah, I'm out.
[ Her delivery is flat, sliding her hand across the ammo-less flooring beside her, and then she shrugs, leaning back and still observing. ... And true enough, some minutes of peace later, another suspect little group of kids with obnoxious smiles on their faces turned up. Yeah okay, this wasn't funny anymore. ]
... There's no end to them; they sure are pests.
Kunzite || Tales of Hearts R || shinki
[ So Kunzite probably stands out a little too much to effectively get away. He is 6'4" after all and he's a pretty face, despite his rather lineface look. He doesn't budge when people try to drag him though. Honestly he feels nothing towards this music it was a bit too loud for the mechaknight to be honest. So there's a crowd around him as they try in a futile attempt to get him inside. ]
Negative. I must report back to my master immediately. [ He doesn't have time to listen to this music! If it can truly be called that. To him it was a cacophony of sound with no real desirable rhythm. ]
Necklace
[ He's most proficient when it comes to fighting, he knew that now. Despite his large stature and build he was nimble and could easily maneuver in a fight. So he'll be dashing off of rooftops scanning the area for any signs or signatures of the culprit at large. But he's not sensing anything at the most, which is most unusual for him. ]
Commencing scan of surrounding areas.
