TEST DRIVE # 03

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Keening Karaoke

For some reason, karaoke clubs have suddenly popped up all over the Heavens. Not only that, but they are the big new hotspot for residents of the Far Shore to hang out at and everyone around you has been pressuring you to join them. Do you continue to fight back or give in to the peer pressure weighing you down?

Little Lies

Everyone believes that white lies do no harm, so the people of the Near Shore are happy to use small lies whenever they need to. Tiny ayakashi have been springing from these little lies and are now teaming up to form into a huge ayakashi, and it keeps getting bigger with every passing moment!

Marriage Madness

With spring in the air, the season of weddings is upon the Near Shore, and boy do the people of Japan seem eager to get married this year. In fact, it's so crazy trying to book anything that there are literally hundreds of prayers being sent up asking for monetary deals as well as luck with finding the right place to marry. Help some poor people out.

Necklace Nuisance

A cursed necklace has sprung up in the city and there are a lot of people dying because of it. The weird thing is that no one who has actually worn the necklace has died, just everyone around them. This cursed necklace has fallen into the hands of a depraved young man who is more than happy to use its bad luck in order to start 'taking out the trash' of the world...

Overt Ogling

As the temperature rises, so do the skirts of teenage girls. Unfortunately, there are a lot of pubescent boys who are more than happy to take a gander whenever they can. Catching some peeping toms, how is a resident of the Far Shore supposed to react? Or even warn the poor girl who's being spied on?

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!
skycutter: (But lately I'm beginning to find that I)

[No, it's the boys' fault for sure. Hope doesn't even understand why they're acting this way, or how they even came up with such a thought, but really... They need someone to set them straight. Hope cant do it when he doesn't cut an imposing figure, and he's small and squeaky, but at least he's not alone.]

All right. I'll leave it to you. I'll try to get her out of here too, if I can get a reason...

[A pause.]

But if they make trouble, let me know, okay?

Thank you, but I'm sure it'll be fine. As for a reason...she might be willing to show you where something nearby happens to be.

[And with a polite nod he's off to tackle these teenage boys. His greeting seems average enough, just an excuse me and a wave to catch their attention, making subtle efforts to draw their attention away from the girl and promote some physical distance.

After all, the guy who asked for his assistance will need some room to talk to the girl himself.

If all goes well, he can catch up to check on him after seeing to these delinquents]

[Hope gives the man (?) a headstart of five seconds before he steels himself to go talking to a complete stranger. He's still really bad at doing this, unless he has to work with other people for some reason or another, like with that shinki person.]

Hi, uh...?

[His mind is blanking now that he's talking to the girl, and for a second he doesn't actually know what to ask directions for.]

C-can you point me to the, I, er...

Library?

[Well, at least he's got the shy foreigner act down pat, even if it's not... actually an act.]

[With the girl's attention diverted, he's fairly sure that even in proximity she won't overhear their conversation. And hopefully neither will the god he's trying to assist - he doesn't need to be bothered with how he gets a job done.

Only that he does so.

Thus when he has their attention he doesn't waste any time]

You are aware that what you're doing constitutes sexual harassment, right? And that there's a cop just over there?

[He gestures, even as their heads whip around to spot the policeman walking along]

I should imagine being caught at something like that would be problematic...

[This young god is certainly not looking at the blond man assisting him, when he's red-faced from the cooing of the girl he's speaking with, complimenting him on his cute face and pretty hair.]

Thanks...?

Can you just point me... To the, um.

[She's actually offering to accompany him to the library itself, and Hope flushes a little more. Even if this is a good outcome-- an excellent one, even-- mission-wise, Hope has no idea what to do from there. Maybe sequester himself in a corner with books and read until he shakes the girl or the shinki catches up with him?

And speaking of the shinki...

Hope tries to sneak a look towards him, but it looks like he's busy. Oh no.]

[It's not very difficult to put the scare in some schoolboys, for which he counts himself fortunate. If anything Slaine was braced for them to be much more obstinate, but the fact that they aren't is something of a relief.

Surely the pressure of a police officer's intervention - and the inevitable involvement of their parents - has a certain weight to it that he can't underestimate. Very good to know]

I won't report it this time...but if I see this kind of thing again, I'll have to.

[It's not difficult to adopt some air of authority, even if he doesn't have any more power than anyone else here. None that he can show, at any rate. But it seems enough that after some reluctance, the group feigns interest in some other activity and turns to leave]
