TEST DRIVE # 03

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Keening Karaoke

For some reason, karaoke clubs have suddenly popped up all over the Heavens. Not only that, but they are the big new hotspot for residents of the Far Shore to hang out at and everyone around you has been pressuring you to join them. Do you continue to fight back or give in to the peer pressure weighing you down?

Little Lies

Everyone believes that white lies do no harm, so the people of the Near Shore are happy to use small lies whenever they need to. Tiny ayakashi have been springing from these little lies and are now teaming up to form into a huge ayakashi, and it keeps getting bigger with every passing moment!

Marriage Madness

With spring in the air, the season of weddings is upon the Near Shore, and boy do the people of Japan seem eager to get married this year. In fact, it's so crazy trying to book anything that there are literally hundreds of prayers being sent up asking for monetary deals as well as luck with finding the right place to marry. Help some poor people out.

Necklace Nuisance

A cursed necklace has sprung up in the city and there are a lot of people dying because of it. The weird thing is that no one who has actually worn the necklace has died, just everyone around them. This cursed necklace has fallen into the hands of a depraved young man who is more than happy to use its bad luck in order to start 'taking out the trash' of the world...

Overt Ogling

As the temperature rises, so do the skirts of teenage girls. Unfortunately, there are a lot of pubescent boys who are more than happy to take a gander whenever they can. Catching some peeping toms, how is a resident of the Far Shore supposed to react? Or even warn the poor girl who's being spied on?

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!

[Risky business, this plan of Raidou's. He knows it's easier on him to fight the large monster with Flynn right beside him because two swords will always be better than one, but if they don't pay attention to the littler ayakashi, they'll simply keep piling on, and their work will never be over. However, if they pour their attentions solely on the smaller ones, the large ayakashi will sneak up on them when they least expect it.

But he's banking on Flynn to work quickly and effectively-- he's trusting him to come back quickly.

And in the meantime, Raidou works on whittling the large threat before him, strafing around and shooting whenever he can-- rushing in with his sword is just asking for trouble, he thinks. Perhaps Flynn can hear just how loud his shots are.]

[He continues to create lines that redirect and repel the smaller ayakashi away from where Raidou was doing battle. The gunshots from the God's gun are like loud, booming reminders for him; he isn't alone in this battle and he has someone counting on him. The knowledge spurs him onward until finally the smaller ayakashi were forced back enough that they wouldn't be getting to the larger one any time soon.

He pivots on his heel and begins running in the direction where he could hear Raidou's gun going off. Now all that was left to do was to defeat the biggest threat before them.]

[And just in time too, when Raidou thinks he definitely needs some back-up. He's been counting the bullets he's using, and they're running out-- and without much luck in whittling down the large ayakashi's form. When he spots Flynn's familiar form, he's definitely going to be making a beeline towards him.]

You have permission to use whatever you have.

[Definitely not a time to be holding back. Especially when Raidou himself is not.

He expends the last of the bullets within his revolver, but is going to stop reloading-- no sense in wasting precious bullets that don't do a thing, especially when Raidou can do so much more than that. All he has to do is concentrate... and shining bullets of energy fill all the chambers of his cylinder.]

[Even though the smaller ayakashi had been stopped the larger ayakashi had no signs of significant damage on it. Raidou giving him the permission to make full use of his abilities was enough to signal to him that this was going to be a difficult battle.

With a quick nod, he focuses his attention on the ayakashi and begins to draw forth power from within. It built up until it was ready and only then did he release it.]

Zandyne!

[A cone of wind bursts forth from beneath their adversary.]

[personal profile] manlyfop 2016-04-03 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Having magic sure is convenient, isn't it? Raidou doesn't have any unfortunately, but he has at least other abilities that would help, the ones he'd developed upon learning he was a god. And while Flynn casts, Raidou makes sure to protect his companion, firing round after round of energy bullets at the ayakashi to distract it.

And after the Zandyne spell has been released, he chances to get closer to the shinki, laying a hand on his shoulder after a moment of deliberation.]

Try other spells, find its weak point.

[Flynn is the only one who can do that easily after all.]

[personal profile] choseneutrality 2016-04-03 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Verily so. The Zandyne spell seems to have done some damage but not enough that it would be fatal. Raidou had the right idea though; if they could exploit a weakness then they could handily destroy the ayakashi.]

Understood. I will not fail.

[When he focuses next it's for a fire spell. Flames crackle and then explode outward, blazing tongues licking at the large ayakashi's body as they spread.]

[personal profile] manlyfop 2016-04-03 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
I'll distract it. [Good thing Flynn is right here to back him up-- rather, in this case, he's the back-up. Only appropriate, when Flynn is doing most of the heavy work right now and Raidou is simply keeping the ayakashi's attention on himself so the spells can go off without the ayakashi realizing it.

So Raidou makes us of quick footwork to get around, running about the ayakashi in a circle, while shooting in order to get its attention.]

[On their own, gods and shinki would never be able to beat ayakashi. They were too vulnerable and little more than sitting ducks. But they weren't alone and they weren't defenseless.

With Raidou acting as a distraction, Flynn was free to continue his magical assault in order to find the one that would give them an opening for Raidou to deliver the final blow. The next spell--an ice spell this time--seemed to be the deciding factor. The ayakashi couldn't move and struggled against the ice that was holding it in place. If there was ever a good time for Raidou to call his shinki name and finish off the ayakashi, now would be it.]
