TEST DRIVE # 06



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Zombie Zoo

A local zoo is having a very serious problem. Specifically, a large number of its dead animals have suddenly come back to life! These animals have all died sometime in the past, over several decades, but now they're crawling out of their grave sites to join the other other animals in the zoo. It's not that they're causing any trouble, they act exactly as they did in life. It's just... really creepy, honestly.

Arctic Arcade

A popular arcade is under siege by restless spirits. No matter how warm the owners try to keep the gaming areas, it's like an arctic tundra inside. The cold is starting to mess with the gaming systems and very few patrons are willing to deal with subzero temperatures just to play some dumb video games. It's quite likely there's an ayakashi plaguing the store, but it's a matter of finding out where exactly it's hiding.

Baby Boxes

Japan is taking some initiative to adopt a new system for the young people being born into their country! Much like Finland, they are starting a tradition where each new baby has a box of essentials gifted to their parents, which can also serve as a crib while the baby is still small enough to fit inside. You've been enlisted to help put these boxes together! Have fun with all the baby food and diapers.

Calling Card

Every god needs to be promoted, how else will they get followers, right? So that's your job! Go promote your god or, if you're a god, promote yourself! Whether your calling card is literally a card with your phone number or some graffiti sprayed onto every bus in Tokyo, it's all fair game. Just make sure it's going to bring in the customers.

Desperate Doggy

An odd spirit has started following you around. It's the spirit of a dog, who is very intent on getting back to its master. Apparently its master really needs the dog in order to keep living a happy life, that's what you've gathered from all the barking and shoving at least. Whether you decide to help the dog find its master or help it reach the next world is up to you.

[He spins once as they continue walking forward, his arms outstretched. Two beautiful men drinking beneath the moonlight is ideal, so this is fine. It's not about the weird feelings of his leg or that girl at all.] We can head there right away.

[bighand]

[Right now?? Isn't that a bit sudden? Should he go home and prepare, first... What would he prepare for this outing between comrades??? He doesn't even know. These are his thoughts as he follows along after this spinning menace.]

Alright... Oh, but- [He looks back over his shoulder, most definitely looking for Yona again.] You aren't going to invite her?

[razzledazzles]

I had thought you wanted to check your own behavior before inviting our dearest Yona along. Should we have her join us?

[He certainly wouldn't mind. Drinking with the two of them doesn't sound bad at all.]

[bighand]

[Gasps!! In his eagerness to please Her Wonderfulness Yona (working title), he forgot he wouldn't want to shame himself in front of her...]

Ah, I see your point... I would not want to interrupt her butterfly viewing, either. Next time.

[razzledazzles]

[Wise decision. Jae-Ha shows his approval by reaching over to wrap his arm loosely around Kija, guiding him along and out of the zoo.]

Now then, let's find you the perfect drink to start with. Something light should do fine...

[bighand]

[Ah, so this is camaraderie...!! Lead the way, bad influence.]

Are you underestimating me? I am not that weak.

[razzledazzles]

Oh, would you like to start with something strong? I've found a favorite already. I could share it with you, if you'd like.

[Kija will die in a sip. To be fair, Jae-Ha isn't aware of this, but he does seem the type...]

[bighand]

[Yeah he will be dead instantly. Dead again. Not the point. This sounds like more bonding!!]

Then I will start with that! We should be able to share anything, as close comrades. I will remember this outing fondly.

[Million-dollar question: Will Kija remember this outing at all?]

[razzledazzles]

[Close comrades... Assuming this is a little after his initial "what the fuck is wrong with you" feelings towards how eagerly Kija accepts all of this, all he can do at that is smile.]

Let's hope so. Right this way! [Watch him lead him straight into this weird bar thing, regardless of what time it is, and order them their drinks. It doesn't take too long! So it's passed over, and Jae-Ha goes through some long winded speech about how he should take a small sip at first, see if he likes it...]

i can't believe kija is fucking dead

[bighand]

[That's a very good speech! Kija nods along with it the whole time, occasionally interjecting with little ohs and I sees. His new comrade is so worldly about these things, and Kija appreciates that...

But he's still going to raise his drink and knock back about a third of it like it's a shot and not something that should be carefully sipped.]

That was not so bad. It's— [nope, he's on the floor.]

Kija!

[Ah, there he goes. Jae-Ha rushes over to lean Kija up into his arms, staring down at him before he realizes... Ah.]

You didn't listen to me. [This is why he wanted to start with light drinks.] In less than one cup... You were right to be worried.

[He pokes at his cheek. How gone is he...]

[bighand]

[He's so gone. He needs another couple seconds before he's sort of come back to himself, at which point he reaches up to tenderly touch the cheek of his favorite comrade, who's come to his aid—

but with a big dragon hand. Don't make any sudden movements.]

Jae-Ha, is that you...? [he's dying, you asshole]

[razzledazzles]

He's completely gone.

[He announces this to himself, because this roomful of people isn't even looking at them at this point.]

Kija, you should be careful with that hand of yours. I have a delicate face. [Don't scratch it up, thanks.]

[bighand]

[Squeeze......]

If you need to be slapped, I will provide for you. [Is he here?? Is he having a weird lucid dream where Jae-Ha gets what he deserves?? Who knows.]

Get me water...

[razzledazzles]

You'd kill me. [He'd like a slap a lot better with the non ugly hand, thanks. Ahhh, but time to care for him, he supposes. Scooping him up carefully, he sets Kija back in his seat and grabs a glass of water from his place.

He holds it up to his lips for him.]

Here you are.

[bighand]

[He's already dead, it's fine... Kija sways only a little when he's put back in his seat, mercifully letting go of Jae-Ha's face to reach vaguely for the glass of water. Vaguely, because he would most definitely knock it to the ground if he actually touched it, and it's already moved to his mouth by the time he tries.

what kind of drink was that, monster]

Okay. [He'll take a sip... probably.] Jae-Ha...

[razzledazzles]

Hmm?

[Take the damn sip, weirdo. He'll keep the glass nearby, occasionally urging it at his lips again. Drink before you somehow manage to spirit-die of alcohol poisoning. It was a normal drink.]

What is it?

[bighand]

[He's taking the sip!! It's just taking some effort. He needs this sip before he can answer, anyway. He closes his eyes, looking very serious...

Okay!!]

I am fine now. Give me the drink again.

[he is Not Fine]

[razzledazzles]

[Kija...]

I'm afraid I can't allow that. [He's not one for promoting death. Or re-death. Or anything. He doesn't want to bring home an unconscious Kija to his dear Yona.] You've had enough, so let's bond over this water here.

[bighand]

Okay.

[...wait!! no!! He perks up, or at least he thinks he perks up, but it's more like a weird sway.]

No! We came here to drink! I won't spoil it...

[razzledazzles]

You'd pass out again.

[That means no. Here he is, shoving the water at him again. Drink, child.]

[bighand]

[NoooooOOOoooo okay. Is he allowed to hold his own glass of water yet? He won't use the big hand to hold it, this time.]

Did I pass out?

[razzledazzles]

You hit the ground instantly!

[Here, he can take the water, finally. But Jae-Ha is still going to stay close to be sure he doesn't fall out of his chair again or drop it. Let him cautiously sip at his own drink...]

It was impressive, in a way. Oh! Other than that, your behavior... Well, do you feel any different?

[He's managing, he's managing. He's also staring uncomfortably at his glass of water, since he no longer has the alcohol to look perturbed by.]

My mouth tastes like a bee died in it.

[wait for it.....]

[bighand]

Jae-Ha! Jae-Ha! A-Are there bugs in this place?!
