Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Zombie Zoo
A local zoo is having a very serious problem. Specifically, a large number of its dead animals have suddenly come back to life! These animals have all died sometime in the past, over several decades, but now they're crawling out of their grave sites to join the other other animals in the zoo. It's not that they're causing any trouble, they act exactly as they did in life. It's just... really creepy, honestly.
A popular arcade is under siege by restless spirits. No matter how warm the owners try to keep the gaming areas, it's like an arctic tundra inside. The cold is starting to mess with the gaming systems and very few patrons are willing to deal with subzero temperatures just to play some dumb video games. It's quite likely there's an ayakashi plaguing the store, but it's a matter of finding out where exactly it's hiding.
Japan is taking some initiative to adopt a new system for the young people being born into their country! Much like Finland, they are starting a tradition where each new baby has a box of essentials gifted to their parents, which can also serve as a crib while the baby is still small enough to fit inside. You've been enlisted to help put these boxes together! Have fun with all the baby food and diapers.
Every god needs to be promoted, how else will they get followers, right? So that's your job! Go promote your god or, if you're a god, promote yourself! Whether your calling card is literally a card with your phone number or some graffiti sprayed onto every bus in Tokyo, it's all fair game. Just make sure it's going to bring in the customers.
An odd spirit has started following you around. It's the spirit of a dog, who is very intent on getting back to its master. Apparently its master really needs the dog in order to keep living a happy life, that's what you've gathered from all the barking and shoving at least. Whether you decide to help the dog find its master or help it reach the next world is up to you.

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!

But— I would like to go. [This is all the reason he needs, let him come.]
no subject
You would?
no subject
Of course. I enjoy our time together very much.
no subject
[Well, if he sticks to water it's fine. Especially if Jae-Ha is there to look after him, probably.]
I suppose some company wouldn't hurt.
no subject
Then please, come to me whenever you need support! I will be there!
no subject
You're quite stuck on trying to help me. [He'll go to Kija whenever he needs a lightweight.]
no subject
You are my comrade, so of course. [Hmm...] And... you did help me up from the floor and bring me water, so I'm sure being your ally is the correct choice.
[Take care of him once: Kija will now die for you.]
no subject
[Kija... If this is how he chooses allies, Jae-Ha worries for him a little. But there's no mistaking that white hand is terribly similar to his own monstrous leg. He's curious himself, he has to admit.]
Why don't we head back? [Now that he's finished both of their drinks for them.] This time, we can look at something other than the butterflies.
no subject
Alright, let's go! [This time when he gets up, he isn't wobbling too much... he can stay upright. Success!!]
no subject
[There's that whole... zombie problem, but they can worry about that later. In the meantime, he slaps down some money or something and they can be on their way!! As he makes sure Kija doesn't get wobbly.]
no subject
That reminds me... Jae-Ha, perhaps you can answer my question. What is the purpose of caging all those animals? Are they being held before they are to fight?
[what is a zoo for, jae-ha]
no subject
For the entertainment of everyone who comes to visit. Their freedom is stripped away for the purpose of showing them off. [fuck zoos, can they free the animals?? can that be their new mission?]
Not to fight, but to live each day caged, unable to explore the wild as they normally would.
no subject
Keeping a pet is one thing, but this seems tasteless and cruel. [time to break open the whole zoo, best buddy.] If you would like that place leveled to the ground, simply say the word.
no subject
Unfortunately, the wide variety of animals wouldn't be able to survive in this place. Even if we were able to return them to their rightful homes, they would have difficulty settling back in. Some were born into this captivity, from what I understand.
no subject
[As he looks off to the side however, something catches his eye that is equally mysterious... a sign! He points to it.] What about that one...?
["PETTING ZOO"]
no subject
[That's strange. He hadn't heard of this mysterious thing before! His hand drops away from his face as he looks on seriously.]
Let's investigate. [Could it really be two of the same areas of cruelty in the same city? He needs to know!] It seems smaller, in comparison.
no subject
That cannot be the only difference, if it has its own area away from the main fortress... [it's a zoo, kija] What do you think it could mean?
no subject
[They walk through the entrance area to witness... the heart of a petting zoo. People and animals everywhere, mixed!! Jae-Ha stops in place, stunned.]
It can't be... These are the animals who have had their pride completely stripped away...!
no subject
no subject
You mean, this is where they keep the animals with broken spirits...?!
[HOW COULD THere's a bump against his leg, then, and Kija looks down into the face of a perfectly normal little goat.
He stares at it. After a moment, the goat bumps him again, clearly expecting food or something. Kija looks uncertainly at Jae-Ha.]
Jae-Ha... is this what an animal with no pride looks like...?
no subject
[Jae-Ha drops dramatically to his knees, looking the goat in the face as he clenches his fists before himself.] Look at you! What was once a proud animal is now begging for the first chance at attention or food! I will give it to you, little goat!
[The goat bleats, and Jae-Ha looks up expectantly to Kija.] Quickly, get some food!
no subject
Y- Yes! I will be quick! [He's going?? He doesn't even know where he's going, but he'll be back soon with food and also another goat. Why does he have another goat???]
This one followed me-! Here, take half of the food. [Half of this HANDFUL OF PELLETS...]
no subject
They've all become so starved for attention! [Gently, he holds out some of the food for his little goat to take. It had already been trying to get at the food, honestly, so it's with eager movements that it finally eats.] I can't imagine what you've been through.
[He pats its head with a free hand, which it also seems totally okay with.] Do you see this, Kija? A normal goat would never allow someone to touch it so easily!
no subject
He looks around..... Hmmmmm... something is suspicious. Most of the people here feeding the other animals are children - could this really be a place of shame and torture??]
Jae-Ha... This may sound strange, but could it be that these animals are just hungry?
