August Announcements
Here we are again, bringing you the news of Near and Far Shore events for the month of August!

The Near Shore
- The new year has come! The weather continues to be chilly, with occasional flurries of snow. Up in the mountains, snow is growing heavy and the ski season is in full swing.
- Clearance sales are drawing huge crowds at big department stores! It's the best time of year to get a great deal, or to roll the dice on a lucky bag of last year's goods at a huge discount. Join the crowds of hopeful shoppers, help your followers find the perfect deal, or chase off ayakashi attracted by shoppers fighting over the best bargain.
- Feuding noodle shops in Asakusa are both seeking the next big thing to draw their rival's business away before the tourist traffic dies down around the big shrine. Tomato and squid ink udon? American barbecue ramen? These chefs need a helping hand. Provide inspiration, help their beleaguered waitstaff, or just try some of these wacky dishes out.
- The Furusato Matsuri (Hometown Festival) is at Tokyo Dome for the 8th consecutive year. Food, dances, songs and goods from small towns all over Japan can be experienced in the same place! It makes a great outing for the nostalgic and the curious alike.
The Far Shore
- The mountains around the Far Shore are snowier now that it's January. Most days are still a little above freezing, but it's chilly enough that gods and shinki should dress warmly!
- With everyone making a special effort to start the new year off well for their followers, it's unusually quiet around the Heavens; many of the old gods' temples are closed up while they're out visiting their shrines in the mortal world.
- Amaterasu's shinki made too much mochi for the New Year, and so they're handing it out all over. Round mochi, stuffed mochi, skewered mochi, cubed mochi, toasted mochi: all the varieties taste heavenly.
- Occasional overnight snowfalls leave the Heavens sparkling in icy splendor. Although it'll melt away by early afternoon, early risers can scrape together enough of the snow for little sculptures, sledding on the main roads, or even a snowball fight. Those who are outside at night while the snow is falling, though, may see strange figures and shadows in the falling flakes, or hear voices whispering just a little too quietly to understand. Don't let the ice spirits lead you off the path, or you'll risk freezing before morning comes.
Noteworthy Ayakashi
- Designer clothing ayakashi are popping up at some of the upscale department store sales. As if the atmosphere wasn't tense enough, these ayakashi are driving people wild to get stylish clothing at a bargain-basement price... and there's no lengths they won't go to for a deal. Clear out the ayakashi and help the shoppers clear their heads before anyone gets hurt.
- Slug ayakashi are collecting among the slush and dead leaves in the gutters. Their glittering trails seem to drain energy and excitement out of anyone who gets too close, leaving people exhausted and listless.
Weather
- Here you can see the weather starting on January 1.
First Shrine Visit
- Shrine visits in the first few days of the new year to pray for good fortune in the upcoming year are important throughout Japan. Gods and their shinki, in turn, must ensure they're at their shrines to listen to their followers' hopes for the upcoming year, help chase off any lingering bad luck (or ayakashi) and maybe even take the chance to visit friends' shrines while it's the season!
- IC Date: January 1 -3
- If you have any questions, feel free to reply to the comment marked 'Event' on this post.

Major Events
- Last month on December 14 - 16, gods and shinki were invited to an onsen in bad repair. Those who helped out around the place were given gifts by the onsen's proprietor.
- On December 22nd, new arrivals were brought to the Meeting Hall for orientation and training.
Player Plots
- If your characters have been up to anything this month that other characters may have noticed -- parties, ayakashi attacks, violent rampages through the Far Shore -- leave a comment on this post to let your fellow players know what's going on!
