May Announcements
Here we are again, bringing you the news of Near and Far Shore events for the month of May!

The Near Shore
- All the leaves are now bright fall colors in early November, and the nights are growing chilly. The final harvests of the year are being brought in.
- The twice-yearly Design Festival at Tokyo Big Sight is here! Thousands of creative artists of all kinds and in all media have rented booths and brought their work. Tickets are cheap -- why not stop by for some new artwork or just to enjoy the atmosphere?
- Even after the official meeting, many gods remain in the Heavens to finish up their business for the year before returning to the Near Shore. Ayakashi are still prevalent and dangerous throughout the mortal world.
- The blighted neighborhood has been cordoned off by Tokyo city employees and police. Unfortunately, nineteen people died in the incident, but the majority of residents were saved. News media are reporting that there was a spill of a dangerous chemical in the area; the Heavens are working on ritually cleansing the area to prevent it from attracting ayakashi.
The Far Shore
- The weather on the Far Shore is still pleasant, if cool. All of the trees have turned gold and scarlet for fall.
- The more rural areas of the Far Shore are full of the drift of smoke where leftover plant material from the harvest is being burned; some of the fires are also being used to roast freshly dug sweet potatoes. Offer a hand with the harvest, or with clearing the fields, and there might be some roasted sweet potatoes in it for you too.
- Persimmons and tangerines are ripening on trees all over the Heavens. The bright orange fruit makes a lovely counterpoint to the blue skies, and they're delicious, too! The tangerines will leave anyone who eats one feeling unusually healthy and energetic, and the persimmons give anyone who eats one a sense of inner peace and artistic inspiration. (Just be careful of the astringency. Maybe they should be dried first....)
- Streets and parks around the Heavens are hung with paper lanterns for the Gods' Month, when many gods remain on the Far Shore to conduct necessary business and connect with their friends and comrades. Some of the lanterns are blank, but others have been painted with poems, sayings or ink sketches; residents who feel poetic, or artistic, can decorate their own lanterns to add to the throng.
Noteworthy Ayakashi
- Beckoning ayakashi are infesting dangerous road and train crossings, luring pedestrians out into the road when it's not safe, and causing an increase in traffic accidents wherever they settle in.
- Ayakashi that take the form of empty shoes are causing a spate of ghost stories in the Asakusa district. They cause the sound of echoing footsteps in empty rooms and hallways, terrifying residents and tourists alike.
Weather
- Here you can see the weather starting on November 1.
The Hungry Forest
- The mysterious forest has been looking larger, darker and more ominous for more than a month now; it's also moving around more frequently, and the glints of will o'the wisp light within are more enticing. Do you dare investigate?
- IC Date: Nov 14
- If you have any questions, feel free to reply to the comment marked 'Event' on this post.
- To sign up your character or your character's soulless shinki to disappear into the mysterious forest, comment to this post with the following information: the character's name and the date they will disappear. Disappearances will begin a few days before the event date (as early as Nov. 11 IC). Characters who volunteer to disappear will be unable to participate in the first part of the event, i.e. venturing into the forest to find the missing character, but may be able to participate in the final battle to get free. There is a possibility that soulless shinki volunteered for this event will be permanently lost, depending on the IC outcome.
- To participate in the event, you will just need to comment to the event log after it goes up on May 1 at 7PM EST.

Major Events
