Here we are again, bringing you the news of Near and Far Shore events for the month of February!



Happenings

The Near Shore

It's cooling down and turning rainy in central Japan as the gray fall weather begins to set in.

• The big Ginza festival has just started! Besides the usual brightly colored festival booths and food, lots of the high-end stores in this expensive commercial district are holding sales for the occasion. This is the time to go for designer goods at a great price -- or keep an eye out for ayakashi attracted by the shoppers' cutthroat bargain-hunting.


• Street musicians near the Meiji shrine are getting competitive. Extra-loud electric guitar riffs, drum solos, elaborate costumes: is this a street or a rock concert?! Between the musicians, the audiences and the gear, people who live in the district are starting to get annoyed.


• A charity group is trying to find homes for local stray cats. It's a big problem, but they're determined, and it seems like there are adoption events everywhere!

The Far Shore

The weather in the Far Shore is starting to cool down a little, too, and tree leaves are changing color.

• The white-robed shinki patrols are showing up slightly less often, although there are a lot more of them around Add's temple, and there seems to be ongoing activity inside. Anyone attempting to enter those temple grounds is turned away.


• Chrysanthemums are bursting into bloom around the Heavens. Most of them are yellow, especially around the Heavens' buildings, but the full spectrum of possible colors is represented. There's something about the yellow chrysanthemums in particular that gives anyone nearby a sense of safety and confidence, especially if they're picked and worn.


• The mysterious forest seems to be a little larger than usual, and it's shifting position more often. Fireflies glint deep within its shadowy reaches, luring gods and shinki in, but once inside it's surprisingly difficult to find your way out again....

Noteworthy Ayakashi

• Leech ayakashi have infested a set of Ikebukuro pachinko parlors. The slimy little things attach themselves to humans and feed on greed and desperation as they spur their hosts to risk more and more, and do ever more awful things for money as they search for the one big score.


• A lonely doll ayakashi has started showing up around central Tokyo parks. Its cries can only be heard by young children, and preschoolers are having sudden screaming tantrums and panicking on otherwise nice afternoons throughout the parks.

Event

Troubled Waters

"Conflict in the Heavens creates conflict on Earth," according to the old gods. It turns out that it's true, and the recent battles of god against god have caused some real problems in the mortal world. Due to player efforts, Orihime has been given the responsibility and opportunity of organizing the new gods to resolve the trouble their conflicts have caused. Player efforts have included answering prayers attached to the NPC during and after the Tanabata event, as well as many player plots invested in trying to reduce her punishment or improve her standing in the Heavens.

Help Orihime get back into the good graces of the Heavens and help the mortals who are being troubled by misfortune across the world! A BBS announcement will be posted prior to the event.

• Last month on September 30th, a formal banquet and dance was held, and Amaterasu made her first public appearance to address the new gods.
• On October 5th, new arrivals were brought to Bishamon's temple for orientation and training.

• On October 2nd, a misguided experiment carried out by Add released mutated ayakashi and strange rifts across the Far Shore, causing some deaths and disappearances.

A reminder that the February app round will be another shinki-only app round to help ensure all characters can find a partner.

Wasn't sure where to put this since it's actually regarding the January intro log, but I hope this is alright - Shun and Chikusa are planning to try remaining at Bishamon's temple a little after training ends to try and eavesdrop for additional information on what caused the damage to Bishamon's garden, since the shinki were being so cagey about it. Will they be able to get any significant information out of it?

They won't get too much information, but they will hear a couple of Bishamon's shinki complaining to each other about new gods releasing ayakashi into the Heavens. They seem to be spooked and upset by the idea, though they're clearly making an effort to keep that quiet.
