Test Drive #20

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Rope bridge Rumble
An adventure park that features several scary-exciting climbs and crossings between trees using only ropes has a huge problem. The ropes are getting unexpectedly tangled up. Even worse, it sometimes happens when a customer is trying to make a crossing, tripping them up in the midst of their course! While the safety ropes have been doing their job at keeping customers uninjured, the employees are fervently praying that whatever is doing this will go away, before something worse happens.
It's the height of summer, and even men that treasure their beards, mustaches and sideburns dearly are driven to get it shaved off in the name of heat reduction. Small barbershops are being overrun with customers who want it all shaved off- some even going so far as to want their head shaved bare.
Answer the barber's pleas for a couple extra hands. May they be steady.
A performance of Macbeth is being haunted by an ayakashi causing bad luck. Props getting misplaced or needing repairs, color gels for the lights getting torn, the microphones keep kicking up feedback- The customary wish of 'break a leg' feels dangerously close to becoming real. Rescue the Scottish Play from its curse before the curtain rises!
Elementary school children go home in groups for safety. However that measure isn't helping against some children getting home very late. And none of the kids can bring themselves to say why they end up taking so many wrong turns on the way. Take up a traffic flag and your best teacher voice, and help the children find their proper way home, keeping an eye out for anything - mundane or supernatural - that might be leading the kids astray.
Cheerful violets grew unusually well this year on the college dorm veranda, to the point where the whole perimeter of the veranda is full of containers holding them. But now the flowers are nearing the end of their life, and something strange is happening to the students at the same time. As the flowers wilt and fade, so does the energy of the students living in the dorm. While it would normally be impossible to draw a connection between the two, residents of the Far Shore can see the truth- tiny ladybug-like energy-hungry ayakashi are moving from flowers to students. Take care of this however you can before the last petal falls!

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!

Have fun!
Zelda | Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time | God
[Zelda, decidedly, is not a fan of this situation, not one bit. She is most definitely not a God or anything like it, despite how those of the Far Shore tell her she is, and she has a great deal she needs to get back to in Hyrule, yet no one seems to have any ideas how to go about doing that aside from 'wait and hope to be sent back.' And she's so very tired of waiting.
Yet still she finds herself among the flowers of the college dorm, glass bottle in one hand and cork in another, her worry of what could happen to the students should the ayakashi infestation be allowed to swarm out of control overriding her base reluctance to act as the Goddess she supposedly is. She's quiet, brow furrowed in focus as a dark little ladybug takes flight off the wilting flowers, and in one fluid motion, she swings, and...
You caught an ayakashi in a bottle! You can release it by pressing (C). ... But that doesn't seem like a good idea, does it?]
Hmm... [Holding the bottle up to the light, she inspects her catch.] It seems some creativity may be in order. At the rate they appear to be affecting the students, hunting each one of these things down individually will be too time consuming.
[But she can't even touch them without getting "blighted." What to do, what to do...]
Toil and Trouble;
[Zelda is not afraid of heights. This fact is helpful in two regards: one, it's easy to volunteer when the cursed-theatre owner wants someone to check up in the catwalks for problems, and two, it allows her some time away from the small swarms of anxious people, shinki, and gods buzzing around on and around the stage. She still hasn't gotten used to being around large crowds again.
But when she comes across a wire holding the catwalks aloft having been almost entirely chewed through, and a little black ferret-looking thing with too many eyes and a wicked grin, she suddenly regrets her lonesomeness.]
Oh no...
[With one last snip from the ferret's pointy teeth, the catwalk is overturned, and Zelda nearly sent tumbling down with it. Fortunately, she manages to grab hold of what was once a guardrail before she falls completely, but pulling herself back up again while the catwalk swings and twists on its remaining wires is easier said than done. She curses under her breath before swallowing her pride and calling out to those on the floor below--]
Someone... help, please?
Toil and Trouble
Aaaaaaa, aaaaa!
[Calling up in the best way she has available to her, she opens her arms wide, signaling for the young princess to let go.]
no subject
[She glances down at her would-be rescuer when she cries out, and, well-- she doesn't look like she has the frame to catch a falling person safely, though she had been carrying those heavy props to and from the stage, and - as the creaking catwalk is keen to remind her - beggars can't be choosers.]
A-- Alright. [The steeling breath she takes does little to steady her voice as she counts:] One... two... three!
[And she lets go, falling towards the stage and Berserker's arms with eyes tightly clenched shut. Please don't drop her...!]
no subject
[Berserker nods up at her, long bangs falling out of her face to reveal heterochromic eyes and a serious expression. Whether she's capable of it or not, she certainly seems determined to try. As Zelda starts counting, she bends her knees slightly and extends her arms a bit.]
Ngh...!
[There's a light grunt as Zelda lands - not on the floor, but safely in the arms of her rescuer. Allowing her a moment to open her eyes and regain her composure, Berserker gently sets her on her feet with a small nod.]
no subject
Ah, you... You have my gratitude, thank you. I do not wish to imagine what might have happened had you not responded as quickly as you did.
[Despite her shakiness, she offers the girl a small smile. She's a bit odd, quiet, but... kind. It reminds her of Link, in a fond but bittersweet way.]
no subject
Yaaaa.
[She nods back at Zelda, placing her own hand over her chest for a moment as she mimics the gesture she'd seen from the other woman. Being unable to talk is frustrating, but she seems to have understood her intentions.]
no subject
In any case, I doubt anyone will be going back up there for a while yet. [Probably for the best. Trying to take care of that ayakashi up there wouldn't be the easiest thing with the limited space. She turns back to Berserker.] Perhaps I could assist you with your task for a while?
Toil and Trouble
[Quickly taking wing, Celestia rises up into the air -- though rather than hover below Zelda and try to catch her, she simply reaches out with her magic. Sun-yellow light shines around her horn, and a moment later, around Zelda too as the telekinesis surrounds and supports her.]
I have you.
no subject
[It gives her a strange feeling, Celestia's magic. It looks so very much like her own, all golden and bright, but also feels so very different. Suddenly, she feels light as a feather, and, with some hesitance, she loosens her grip on the swinging rail, marveling for a moment when she doesn't fall.
Amazing.]
Ah, forgive me, I am usually a little more sure-footed than that. Thank you, for your assistance.

No, it was not. I caught a glimpse of the ayakashi responsible a moment before the walk gave out. I imagine if we are able to disperse it, many of the problems this troupe has been having will cease. [A hum, thoughtful.] It seemed to be a small one, but quick; it may be difficult to corner it...
no subject
[The catwalk in turn glows with light, before it abruptly picks itself up and the wires reattach to hold it firmly in place once more.]
I think I will be able to strike quickly enough if you can lure it out. Or I can try to lure it, but that will take some consideration.
[Celestia quite gently sets Zelda back on the mended catwalk, still hovering in midair quite gracefully.]
no subject
Oh, I believe I can do that much, at least. So long as it has not scurried off to cause havoc elsewhere in the theatre while we were... preoccupied. Though I admit I am... still rather untrained when it comes to this sort of thing.
[How does she shot god. She begins to walk slowly down the catwalk, this time one hand firmly holding onto the guardrail. There's a creaking noise coming from the ceiling, but that may just be the wires responding to her weight...]

[Despite keeping up conversation, Zelda is similarly on alert, years of being on the run coming to bear on her senses, increasing her awareness of every sound, every creak. It's a quiet whisper that causes her long ears to perk up, a voice belonging to neither her nor Celestia rasping smells yummy, and, attention caught, her head immediately snaps up to the source.]
There!
[The little creature hides in the corner of the rafters, grinning down with too-white teeth, though Zelda's sudden shout seems to have startled it somewhat.]
no subject
[The blow isn't enough to grievously wound the dark spirit, though, and Celestia's second one misses its mark by a little as it scrambles to one side.]
violets
Do you have a bigger bottle?
no subject
I am certain I could find one quickly enough in this city. [Everything here is so much bigger than she's used to...] Why, do you have an idea?
no subject
( frowning, )
But maybe if we put something in the bottle, they'd all come to it anyway?
no subject
... While that does seem as good an idea as any, I fear I am still rather new to all this. I am still not entirely certain what attracts ayakashi in the first place. [...] Aside from these flowers, and the students, anyway.
