TEST DRIVE # 08



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Junky Jokes

There is a small spirit girl who is determined to hear some funny jokes before she passes on to the next life. Your job is to come up with some horribly bad, wonderfully funny jokes to make her laugh. Be warned, though, she's got a very serious face that's hard to crack.

Knights Knives

The swords of the knights at a local museum's exhibit have gone missing. They are praying for them to be returned because these swords are worth so much and such a great part of history. Hopefully you'll be able to find them, because otherwise those prayers are going to someone else.

Ludicrous Lightning

There's been a streak of heat lightning going on. It's so intense that sometimes the lightning will light up the night sky as if it were day and there have been numerous power outages in the area. Go help out the people who are without power and make sure that everyone can still live as normally as possible!

More Money

Who doesn't need more money? A little convenience store needs help since all of their employees have fallen ill at the same time. They're offering double wages to anyone who will work for them. Unfortunately, the store is a hot spot for misfortune and ghouls of various kinds. Have fun!

Neon Nourishment

Surprise! A very American man is shoving neon bright candy and cakes at everyone who will stop for even a moment, and he easily notices all Far Shore residents as well. Which means every time you pass him, you'll be getting more and more of this hideously colored food. Enjoy~

[She's willing to stop for somebody who can actually see her. Which means she's stopped a lot, and now has her arms full of the candies and cakes. Is this legal? How can this guy even see her?

Oh well, she's pretty fond of cakes, so she'll take a bite and-]

Still, it's free candy, so Tot passes by him a few times gathering up as much of the candy as she can before running off and offering it to anyone else she sees.]

[It's always better to use a test subject before trying anything yourself! Papa taught her that. That and no one's going to suspect an innocent girl with a stuffed bunny of anything bad, are they?]

[As she stands in front of the door to the convinience store, Brady gives her god the sourest stare she can manage.]

I'm not fucking doing this. You do it. You're the one who gets prayed to. I'm just a ring, for fuck's sake.

[ He doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, so Nagi had passed by the weird guy earlier without taking anything. Of course, he found it pretty suspicious that the man could see him at all. And the first thing he ever learned when he arrived on the Far Shore newly dead was that there was an 'incident' involving chocolates. Nagi isn't going anywhere near that proffered candy.

So it's to his surprise (and equal suspicion) when he comes across someone else giving away the exact same neon colored sweets. He pauses, tilting his head at the girl dubiously. ]

[ Not big on words, really. But it gets the point across. ]

[Lightning and swords go hand in hand. She's on this mission and prayer as soon as everything was explained. It'll be simple enough to find something like that since it seems in this world at least these items would stand out. Just like she does.

Try not to get in her way. She might be more friendly than she looks if you choose to help instead. Maybe.]


Ludicrous Lightning

[Yes, she is quite aware that her name is the same as the weather currently.

Helping out people is something she can do easily. Lightning is used to doing requests and answering prayers. It's a simple task. Make sure nothing is nearby that could short out and catch fire is her main focus here. You might see her just casually walking in and out of houses/apartments/etc. Feel free to help or stop her and ask her what she's up to.]

[FOOD IS FOOD. Lightning likes food. Lighting does not turn down the many snacks she's been handed, instead just standing nearby and chowing down. The candy and cakes aren't bad. Who knows, she might be willing to share the haul she's got.]

[ She supposes she could be spending her time in worse ways. Katniss is stocking the shelves, and she's not half-bad at it, actually. She can gather a lot of stuff in her arms and she's pretty quick about putting the stuff out.

Or she's manning the cash register, and when some poor sap tries to short-change her-- ]

No way. You're not leaving here without paying, or you're gonna put that stuff back.

[ Katniss loves cake. She doesn't know why she does, but she does. It doesn't look natural, which is really weird, but it tastes fine. Katniss can't eat all this stuff, though, which is why she holds out a piece of cake for someone walking by. ]

[She doesn't blame him one bit except for the fact she'd never hurt him. Not on purpose anyway. But that's beside the point. The point is he's someone she knows (he's a little older than she remembers, but she's never been one for details). She immediately lights up in recognition.]

[A normal person would look at the cake and question why the food was given. In some cases, it would be a trap and sadly Aymeric has run into a few of those before coming here. However, the girl sounds nice and despite the look of the treat there...really can't be any harm in it, right?

[Makoto is always glad to help out in any way he's able to! So he has happily donned the uniform of a conbini and is taking care of customers the best he can.

Except that he is absolutely terrified of ghouls and is totally useless against them especially without a shinki to beat them off with.

You can find him hiding behind a shelf staring at a ghoul with his knees shaking. For a guy with his height and built stature, it's probably a hilarious sight to see.]

The Candy Man can~:

[Makoto sucks at English and wants to be hospitable to foreigners so he just can't say no to the graciously offered sweets. So by now, he's got an armful of them to the point that he can barely carry anymore. There's no way he can eat all of these by himself nor does he particularly want to. While he likes sweets well enough, this is far too much. Can gods get cavities?]

A-ah! Hey! Would you like any of these? Please take some.

[A Japanese sweets shop she doesn't remember in the least.]

Right! Anything at all would be better than this! It's everywhere too! Why do people like this stuff so much?

[She has one strong sweet dislike, and she somehow had the bad luck of biting into it.]

Mochi is sticky, weirdly soft, and it gets stuck in your throat, and there's weird white powder on it...

[Meaning he's choked on it and can't tell you anything past that.]

I don't know how mochi's made. I only now how to make cake and cookies. All the other stuff they sell has red bean, green tea, or some other weird center.

[There's no malice, instead sounding more joyful because it's true. He takes a bite and for just a moment, his eyes widen in shock.]
