TEST DRIVE # 08

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Junky Jokes

There is a small spirit girl who is determined to hear some funny jokes before she passes on to the next life. Your job is to come up with some horribly bad, wonderfully funny jokes to make her laugh. Be warned, though, she's got a very serious face that's hard to crack.

Knights Knives

The swords of the knights at a local museum's exhibit have gone missing. They are praying for them to be returned because these swords are worth so much and such a great part of history. Hopefully you'll be able to find them, because otherwise those prayers are going to someone else.

Ludicrous Lightning

There's been a streak of heat lightning going on. It's so intense that sometimes the lightning will light up the night sky as if it were day and there have been numerous power outages in the area. Go help out the people who are without power and make sure that everyone can still live as normally as possible!

More Money

Who doesn't need more money? A little convenience store needs help since all of their employees have fallen ill at the same time. They're offering double wages to anyone who will work for them. Unfortunately, the store is a hot spot for misfortune and ghouls of various kinds. Have fun!

Neon Nourishment

Surprise! A very American man is shoving neon bright candy and cakes at everyone who will stop for even a moment, and he easily notices all Far Shore residents as well. Which means every time you pass him, you'll be getting more and more of this hideously colored food. Enjoy~

[ It's said with an absolutely deadpan expression. Look, she's trying, but the girl doesn't look too impressed. Katniss and the girl stare at each other for a while, before Katniss clears her throat. ]

Fine. What do you call a fake noodle? [ ....... ] An impasta.

[ ... The girl's still really unimpressed. Someone help her. ]

more money

[ She supposes she could be spending her time in worse ways. Katniss is stocking the shelves, and she's not half-bad at it, actually. She can gather a lot of stuff in her arms and she's pretty quick about putting the stuff out.

Or she's manning the cash register, and when some poor sap tries to short-change her-- ]

No way. You're not leaving here without paying, or you're gonna put that stuff back.

neon nourishment

[ Katniss loves cake. She doesn't know why she does, but she does. It doesn't look natural, which is really weird, but it tastes fine. Katniss can't eat all this stuff, though, which is why she holds out a piece of cake for someone walking by. ]

Here. It's good.

[A normal person would look at the cake and question why the food was given. In some cases, it would be a trap and sadly Aymeric has run into a few of those before coming here. However, the girl sounds nice and despite the look of the treat there...really can't be any harm in it, right?

[ Holy crap, this guy is tall. ]

[That's elezens for you: too damn tall.]

Since you did ask rather nicely, how can I say no?

[There's no malice, instead sounding more joyful because it's true. He takes a bite and for just a moment, his eyes widen in shock.]

This is quite remarkable. Where did you find this?

Yeah. It looks weird, but it's delicious.

[ She points over her shoulder. ]

There's a guy passing them out.

[Peeking over and seeing the man...he seems nice enough?]

And asked for nothing in return? Tis quite rare for such an individual.

[Roxas knows Katniss is trying hard... but even he's not laughing.]

Try smiling? I think you're scaring her.

[This is said quietly enough where the girl won't overhear them.]

Let me try one! [............] I can't think of one.

Smiling.

[ ... Well, she's trying. It's a very nice smile, actually! ]

What do you call a bear without any teeth? [ ... ] A gummy bear.

[ ... that actually gets a laugh from the girl GOOD JOB, KATNISS. YOU DID IT. ]

[... Roxas is not telling Sora about this. Nope. Not at all. This ship does not run on smiles.

He can't help but laugh a little himself.

KEEP GOING]

[ That's encouraging...! ]

How many tickles does it take to make an octopus laugh? [ Wait for it. ] Ten tickles.

[ There's another laugh from the girl. SHE'S DOING IT!! ]

[OH NO THIS IS ACTUALLY CUTE...

Just going to cover his mouth with his hand now because he just wants to praise his shinki for doing so well.]

What did the chef say to the rude customer? [ Waaaaaait for it. ] "I'm going to give you a pizza my mind."

[Yep. Roxas is laughing now. Probably louder than the little girl.

That's a good sign????

What does a clock do when it gets hungry? It goes back four seconds.

[ The little girl's straight up laughing right now, and she throws her arms around Katniss's waist. ]

Thank you!

[ Katniss looks a little embarrassed, but she returns the hug. ]

Yeah. You're welcome.

[Eventually he finished laughing enough to see the touching moment. So Katniss does have a soft side.]

You did great.

[ She's so embarrassed right now, Roxas.

The girl's gone, moved on, probably. ]

All it was was dumb jokes. But it helped her, so...

[It's okay, your god is very proud of you.]

Maybe she just wanted to laugh?

Yeah. Maybe.

[ She rubs at her cheek. ]

So... I guess that's one prayer down.

There's a lot more to go. People are always praying for something.

[He should warn her.]

A lot of the prayers we'll get involve women, children, and childbirth.

[ Yuma happens to walk over at the second joke and snorts. This girl does need help. ]

How about...A bear walks into a bar and says "I'll have a glass of milk and..." [ There's a long pause while Yuma looks around for a moment and finally speaks again. ] "A pack of peanuts."

The bartender asks "Why the big paws!!"

[ Yuma, don't look proud of yourself. ]
