Test Drive #20

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Rope bridge Rumble
An adventure park that features several scary-exciting climbs and crossings between trees using only ropes has a huge problem. The ropes are getting unexpectedly tangled up. Even worse, it sometimes happens when a customer is trying to make a crossing, tripping them up in the midst of their course! While the safety ropes have been doing their job at keeping customers uninjured, the employees are fervently praying that whatever is doing this will go away, before something worse happens.
It's the height of summer, and even men that treasure their beards, mustaches and sideburns dearly are driven to get it shaved off in the name of heat reduction. Small barbershops are being overrun with customers who want it all shaved off- some even going so far as to want their head shaved bare.
Answer the barber's pleas for a couple extra hands. May they be steady.
A performance of Macbeth is being haunted by an ayakashi causing bad luck. Props getting misplaced or needing repairs, color gels for the lights getting torn, the microphones keep kicking up feedback- The customary wish of 'break a leg' feels dangerously close to becoming real. Rescue the Scottish Play from its curse before the curtain rises!
Elementary school children go home in groups for safety. However that measure isn't helping against some children getting home very late. And none of the kids can bring themselves to say why they end up taking so many wrong turns on the way. Take up a traffic flag and your best teacher voice, and help the children find their proper way home, keeping an eye out for anything - mundane or supernatural - that might be leading the kids astray.
Cheerful violets grew unusually well this year on the college dorm veranda, to the point where the whole perimeter of the veranda is full of containers holding them. But now the flowers are nearing the end of their life, and something strange is happening to the students at the same time. As the flowers wilt and fade, so does the energy of the students living in the dorm. While it would normally be impossible to draw a connection between the two, residents of the Far Shore can see the truth- tiny ladybug-like energy-hungry ayakashi are moving from flowers to students. Take care of this however you can before the last petal falls!

(Future) Trunks Briefs | Dragon Ball Z | Shinki
[Times like this, he was glad to be mostly unseen and unnoticed. It made it easier to help people without them noticing how he was doing so. Currently Trunks was hovering off to the side near one of the safety-platforms, with his arms crossed, and watching as customers crossed the bridges and navigated the ropes.
The safety-ropes were good, but really they needed a net under things.
Blue-eyes were scanning the course, when they narrowed at a tangle that appeared further in the one crossing. Carefully, Trunks floated over to the tangle (avoiding adding to it himself) to start unraveling the mess. He looked up when there was a gleeful shout of some older kids, one of whom had just started on the section of bridge he was untangling.]
Gotta hurry then.
[Frowning slightly in concentration, he's working hard to undo the mess while checking every few seconds to both see where the older-boy's progress... Seeing him stumble, the tangle is abandoned as Trunks moves closer and reaches out to gently steady him around the shoulders.]
Deep breaths, take it slow now. Make sure your footing is secure on the rope before you commit.
[Whether the other heard or not, once he's steady—Trunks is back over to that tangle and trying to work quickly. He can't be in two places at once though, and the group of kids are egging their friend on...]
Scenario:Ubiquitous U-turns
[Trunks has gone ahead and done his best to blend in, wearing a Crossing -guard uniform and vest, with a small light-stick in his hand. He is making sure to round up stragglers from the later groups, and offers a small smile.]
Remember everyone, please stay together.
[Despite his serious tone, he can see a few of stragglers hanging back, or not joining the group. Hmm...]
Scenario: Wild Card
[Got an idea? Please share and hit me up.]
U-turns
[He definitely has a few kids clinging onto him, peering at Trunks curiously.]
Re: U-turns
I wouldn't mind it, no.
[He'd been doing a fairly good job of balancing serious with not-intimidating, and keeping his eyes out so far... Addressing the group again.]
I know you're all eager to get home, and the best way to do that is if we stay together as a group.
[Keen blue-eyes catch another straggler breaking off like he's heading for a short-cut...]
Hey!
no subject
[For some reason, there's something in Izumo's tone that causes the straggler to squeak and return to the group, looking sheepish.
Izumo sighs, prompting the kids clinging onto him to join the others.]
Has the kids been doing this the entire time?
no subject
Okay! So, if I hold my light-stick up--
[Holding it up straight by his head in demonstration.]
That means I need you all to stop and wait until I say it's okay to move, right? Don't be afraid to ask questions either, ask Mr. Izumo or me.
[That smile is back, and he's meeting the other man's eyes to see if he wants to add anything.]
no subject
Also, make sure you kids stick together. We don't want anyone getting lost or separated, okay?
[There's a chorus of 'okays' from the kids, though Izumo still gives a few certain kids a look.]
And I do mean stick together. Try not to split off thinking there might be a shortcut or anything.
no subject
This isn't a game, kids. We want you safe and sound, so you can play more later while at the park or playground.
[The light-stick is dropped from its demo position though, as Trunks looks around, and then waves the group on forward.]
no subject
There's something about this that is making him uneasy, so he tries his best to stick close to the children and keep an eye on them as well.]
no subject
The first few streets are fine, as they stop at the crossings and move as a group, chatter accompanying them. One or two look for a moment like they're considering breaking off, but they're usually intercepted easily and quickly by one of the two men. Soon enough however, the group has arrived at a major intersection crossing, with Trunks raising the light stick in the signal to stop. Also putting his arm and hand out to bar the way.]
no subject
It's enough to finally have a kid break off from the group.]
I'll get him.
[A nod to the other shinki before he chases after the kid, quickly pulling him back as a truck comes speeding by.]
no subject
Hmm...that was close--and with the uneasy feeling it just makes it more suspicious. So he's being extra cautious as he looks both ways, before waving the group across the intersection.
As Izumo passes by, he keeps his voice low.]
Did you notice anything, other than the timing there being a little too convenient?
no subject
[His own voice is low.]
I fear that an ayakashi might be lurking around, trying to prey on the children.

[Just even one missing child is bad enough news.]
no subject
Alright everyone, that truck was pretty fast wasn't it? That's why we make sure to be careful. We have about 2 more of those big crossing areas left.
[There might be some forced cheer here...]
So remember to watch out for each other and stay together.

U-turns. Hand-waving names/intro/assumed cr
....Is all that necessary? '
[He's not mocking Trunks, just really confused and curious. Seems a bit over the top...maybe Trunks just really enjoyed getting into the roles for things.]
hand-waving good to me
No, but it makes it easier. Kids know the uniform and the role involved in it, so I don't have to worry about them being afraid or uneasy while I try and figure out what's going on.
ty~
Looks like you have a handle on everything...
[Minus the few that are dragging behind or starting to wonder off. Suou steps in their way, blocking the path. But he doesn't have the outfit or charm that Trunks. The kids are quickly started and bolt back to Trunks. Oops...kind of. It did get a couple of the stragglers back to him. Surely Suou isn't that scary. He frowns a little.]
Re: ty~
That's right, come on now...we want to stay together. Right, Mr. Suou?
[A handle on it he may have, but he won't turn down help. Kids can dart off so quickly and there are a lot of them.]
no subject
Yeah...
[He pulls his scarf up a bit over his chin as he gives a slow nod before taking a few steps closer and following where the group is headed. Though it goes unsaid, its obvious he's there to back Trunks up if needed. He doubt it, but he's there just in case. Just don't let child care become a full time thing...]

Which is demonstrated a few minutes in when they're walking by a nice park area, and several of the younger kids are exclaiming over the butterflies and the flowers. With one little girl breaking off to go see them closer....]
Rope Bridge Rumble
[ The voice comes from behind him, where a little girl is hovering in midair, white-feathered angel wings on her back keeping her aloft and a halo glinting over her head. Patrolling this park was a big job and had been a much easier task from the air, so Nanako had called on her god powers to assist her.
When she'd spotted Trunks working on a problem, she'd quickly changed course and zipped over to see what was wrong. The approaching boy is noticed but not commented on - she's well used to humans never noticing her like this, after all. ]
Re: Rope Bridge Rumble
If you can keep the boy steady, since his friends are yelling at him, I'll work on untangling this faster.
[Not that the kids were yelling meanly--most of them. It was just the usual group of kids egging and encouraging each other. At least they were obeying the rules of 1 person at a time across the bridge. For now.]
Yell if any of the others start across too, okay? Or if you need me there...
[But not having to split his attention means he's able to work faster at untangling the knot and ropes.]
no subject
I can do that. Maybe I can slow him down a little, too...
[ That would give Trunks more time, at least.
Lifting her hand in a little wave to the shinki, she turns to zoom off towards the boy wobbling on the ropes, trying to make progress across the bridge while his friends call and taunt from behind him. A tiny gust of wind accompanies her arrival, stirred up by the flapping of her wings and it has him stopping in place, gripping the ropes a little tighter as he waits for the bridge to steady and she reaches out, placing hands on his shoulders, even though he doesn't seem to notice the support at all. ]
no subject
Some of the taunts get louder when he freezes while waiting for the bridge to steady. At least one of the calls is of impatience--the other boy eager for his turn on the bridge.
With Nanako steadying the bridge-crosser, and Trunks able to focus just on the knot, most of the tangles and the harder part of the knot have been freed so it's safer. The shinki glances up quickly to check the progress of the boy crossing the bridge, as well as on Nanako.]
