Test Drive #20

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Rope bridge Rumble
An adventure park that features several scary-exciting climbs and crossings between trees using only ropes has a huge problem. The ropes are getting unexpectedly tangled up. Even worse, it sometimes happens when a customer is trying to make a crossing, tripping them up in the midst of their course! While the safety ropes have been doing their job at keeping customers uninjured, the employees are fervently praying that whatever is doing this will go away, before something worse happens.
It's the height of summer, and even men that treasure their beards, mustaches and sideburns dearly are driven to get it shaved off in the name of heat reduction. Small barbershops are being overrun with customers who want it all shaved off- some even going so far as to want their head shaved bare.
Answer the barber's pleas for a couple extra hands. May they be steady.
A performance of Macbeth is being haunted by an ayakashi causing bad luck. Props getting misplaced or needing repairs, color gels for the lights getting torn, the microphones keep kicking up feedback- The customary wish of 'break a leg' feels dangerously close to becoming real. Rescue the Scottish Play from its curse before the curtain rises!
Elementary school children go home in groups for safety. However that measure isn't helping against some children getting home very late. And none of the kids can bring themselves to say why they end up taking so many wrong turns on the way. Take up a traffic flag and your best teacher voice, and help the children find their proper way home, keeping an eye out for anything - mundane or supernatural - that might be leading the kids astray.
Cheerful violets grew unusually well this year on the college dorm veranda, to the point where the whole perimeter of the veranda is full of containers holding them. But now the flowers are nearing the end of their life, and something strange is happening to the students at the same time. As the flowers wilt and fade, so does the energy of the students living in the dorm. While it would normally be impossible to draw a connection between the two, residents of the Far Shore can see the truth- tiny ladybug-like energy-hungry ayakashi are moving from flowers to students. Take care of this however you can before the last petal falls!

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!

Have fun!
Saori Nakagawa - OC - Shinki
[Saori figured it wouldn't hurt to help out the staff as they tried to stop the play falling apart at the seams. After a few stitches of a needle, she finished fixing the ripped sleeve on one of the costumes. One of the staff members thanked her profusely before quickly running off to find the actor to get them fitted. The red head turned to face her partner. ]
It should be almost time for their lunch break. Maybe we can convince them to leave so we can check the theater without interruptions. Still, I never thought I'd see actual things going on during a rehearsal of The Scottish Play. Have you been able to find anything?
Violet Veranda
Such a shame this had to happen to these violets...
[Saori crouched down as she got a closer look at the plants and their uninvited guests. ]
There's no way we're plucking them off one by one but we can't risk destroying the flowers either.
Wild Card
[Go with a prompt of your own!]
Re: Saori Nakagawa - OC - Shinki
[ Lilie felt a little useless. Being the newest shinki on the block, she was small, and was sure she was barely twelve. That was assuming of course, the young girl's keen intellect shone through. ]
I did manage to find some damaged pulley ropes though. I replaced them quickly.
no subject
[Saori notices the newbie feeling discouraged and goes over to her. She puts on her best smile.]
That's very good, Lilie! I'm sure the stage hands really appreciated that. Hey, when this is all over, why don't you come to the temple I'm at? I was thinking of making curry for dinner.
no subject
[ Lilie managed a smile as she blushed and rubbed her head. ]
S-sure! I would like that actually. I haven't really eaten well for the past couple of nights.
Violets
My goodness, Lilie! Why's that? Is everything okay with you and your god? Have the other shinki been giving you a hard time?
Re: Violets
[Lilie blushed a little, looking embarrassed as she twiddled her fingers.]
You see... I have trouble sleeping at night... because I think I'm missing something. Like a toy or a person or someone... something to hold in my arms when I sleep... and that causes me to miss mealtimes because I'm so worried about completing my duties.
Re: Violets
I see. It's very easy to be self-conscious about things like getting duties done. Just remember, as long as you remember to be sincere with everything you do, that matters more than the number of things you do. Quality over quantity, okay?
Re: Violets
[Because she's worried that she wouldn't do a good job, and nodded repeatedly.] There's plenty of work to do right now too.
Violet Veranda
[He chuckles, plucking a leaf. There's a little purple blob on the end of it, and the leaf itself is already drooping and yellowing. As he lifts it, the blob perks up a pseudopod and begins oozing eagerly towards Hakkai's fingertips. He waits until it's almost reached him, and then turns the leaf in his hand, putting it at the furthest point from him again.]
Or perhaps we could find some other way to discourage the pests.
Violets
With a sweep of her hand a black wave of shadow wraps in a shiny slick orb around the planter. It's not much but it's contained. Still, this is only a stopgap measure. She couldn't possibly do it to every single one in the school.]
Re: Violets
[She pulls out a metal flask but instead of booze, smoke pours out and surrounds Saori.]
Hmm...this isn't good, I don't have enough smoke to grab all of them unless...
[She looks over the veranda. Of course, why didn't she think of this sooner? Every dorm had a place for the smokers. Sure enough, several students stood in a row as they let out another puff of smoke into the air. If they paid any attention, they would've noticed the smoke darting up and over to the veranda. The whisps mixed along with the rest and it engulfed the other planters in front of Saori and Celty in the same manner.]
We should at least move these off the campus first or at least some place less crowded before we deal with them.
Because why not
Watching Saori's own powers in action, Celty is impressed and offers Saori a nod of approval. With a few gestures the shadow ball floats gently in their direction until Celty can get both of her hands on it. It's not a particularly subtle way to move the planter, but at least it's contained.]
