TEST DRIVE # 17



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Courtly Cadavers

Several dead bodies have very suddenly returned to life. Not only that, but they seem to be possessed by very courteous and polite spirits. So there are reports of half-rotten beings bowing down to young ladies and kissing their hands or holding open doors for other passersby. It's really nice, sure, but also really disturbing.

Dark Deeds

In the middle of the night, there is a spirit that keeps turning off all of the street lamps. Fortunately, there aren't many cars on the roads at this time. Unfortunately, the spirit is also putting out all of the cars' headlights as well. And no cell phone lights or flashlights work during that time either and it's starting to cause a lot of accidents.

Endless Eight

There are eight blocks in downtown Tokyo that have taken to repeating endlessly. As you reach the end of the eight block, you find yourself stepping onto the first block again. No amount of turning or redirecting yourself will allow you to leave the eight blocks - until you stop by a cafe with a couple of bunny girls out front and make a purchase, that is.

Further Forward

Many in Tokyo want nothing more than to be on the cutting edge of technology! And there are some wealthy people who want to be even further ahead than everyone else. That's why they've sent out a general call for new types of technology to be brought to them. And if what you bring is impressive enough, you might get yourself a nice reward~

Giant Goats

Several farms on the outskirts of the city have reported a very sudden and tremendous growth in their goats. That's right, there are two-story tall goats hanging out with the other farm animals. Other than being very large, they seem mostly the same. But since goats will eat anything, well... Let's just say a couple of farmers are going to need new barns soon.

[Before she could say anything else, that's when the ground started shaking! Just like that, the brunette quickly found herself right up in the air!]

W-Whoa! I think somebody was a little too excited...!

[Although, now came the problem of Mabel landing down on the ground soon! What will he do now??]

Blast!

[ The goat is left to bound after a floating pile of straw as the magician swings off its back to catch Mabel. The two of them fly through the air together, suspended by the rope (now tied....somewhere).

The magician will hold Mabel very securely. And heroically. ]

[meowbel]

[And if we look to our left, we get to see one starry eyed Mabel looking at her savior! In fact, she could be giggling as she held onto her prince]

Well, look at you, aren't you all princey and dashy? I think I found the man of my dreams today...! This is my lucky day!

[See that? Mabel just couldn't stop giggling or blushing either!]

[ The magician smiles. Setting Mabel safely down out of harm's way, they produce a red lily and tuck it behind Mabel's ear. Brilliant, bright green eyes glimmer behind that golden mask. ] Take care.

[ Their gloved fingertips withdraw from the flower slowly. ] Content yourself until my return with this token of our meeting.

[ Off goes this bold hero again, with a dramatic cape swish! ]

[meowbel]

[Oh if Mabel could just let this moment last forever! As she eyes continued to sparkle, it felt like she could faint from how amazing this young man was!]

Oh I will, mysterious masked stranger! I shall cherish this flower for the rest of my life! I just hope that we can meet once again!

[...Insert dramatic tears here.

Or at least, her failed attempted at it as she continued to rub her eyes and mumbling how her eyes were failing her]

[ ....It's nice to meet an ad-libber who so easily grasps the essentials of her role. The masked stranger smiles before turning their attention back to the goat, which is continuing to chase the hay. They swing back up atop its head and ride the goat off over the horizon....


...or at least around this bend, out of sight, and away from the farm. There's the property damage taken care of, at least. ]

[It happens with years of practice and watching way too many sappy soap operas. Either way, as the goat continued to wander off, Mabel just couldn't help but sigh.

In the back of her mind, she was already making plans on figuring how to woo this man into her boyfriend some day! However, she doesn't seem to notice how the goat was coming ever so closer toward her!]

[ Oh, no! What's she doing there?! ] Whoa!!

[ They bring the goat to a halt and pull out a very large sword. The magician hadn't wanted to distress a lady by doing this in public, but... ] Rend!

[ Thank goodness. Even without the magician's shinki in this thread in close proximity, said shinki's power on this sword is enough to banish the ayakashi that had been possessing the goat. The goat, who had previously been not getting enough to eat, so its anxiety about wanting to grow bigger very baaaaaa-dly had attracted the negative aura.

Now the goat is shrinking. With the magician on it. The reins adjust as it shrinks until the magician is Mabel's prince on a white....goat.

Up it trots, like this isn't a strange sight at all. ] Are you unharmed?
