TEST DRIVE # 17



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Courtly Cadavers

Several dead bodies have very suddenly returned to life. Not only that, but they seem to be possessed by very courteous and polite spirits. So there are reports of half-rotten beings bowing down to young ladies and kissing their hands or holding open doors for other passersby. It's really nice, sure, but also really disturbing.

Dark Deeds

In the middle of the night, there is a spirit that keeps turning off all of the street lamps. Fortunately, there aren't many cars on the roads at this time. Unfortunately, the spirit is also putting out all of the cars' headlights as well. And no cell phone lights or flashlights work during that time either and it's starting to cause a lot of accidents.

Endless Eight

There are eight blocks in downtown Tokyo that have taken to repeating endlessly. As you reach the end of the eight block, you find yourself stepping onto the first block again. No amount of turning or redirecting yourself will allow you to leave the eight blocks - until you stop by a cafe with a couple of bunny girls out front and make a purchase, that is.

Further Forward

Many in Tokyo want nothing more than to be on the cutting edge of technology! And there are some wealthy people who want to be even further ahead than everyone else. That's why they've sent out a general call for new types of technology to be brought to them. And if what you bring is impressive enough, you might get yourself a nice reward~

Giant Goats

Several farms on the outskirts of the city have reported a very sudden and tremendous growth in their goats. That's right, there are two-story tall goats hanging out with the other farm animals. Other than being very large, they seem mostly the same. But since goats will eat anything, well... Let's just say a couple of farmers are going to need new barns soon.

[ While he had noticed that someone was below him, he had only had to cast a glance down at the stranger to be able to tell that she was no threat. ]

Hello, miss.

[ His voice turns cheerful, and he waves at her, though he's not sure she can see him. But he's very bothered by the thought that she might not. ]

[darkestbefore]

[ The voice comes from above and she cants her head back to look. With the sky overhead she can make out the shape of someone overhead, but no more details than that, although she thinks she can see him moving. Which begs the question of... how is he even up there? ]

Ahh, sorry. I can't... really see you. Is everywhere as dark as this? Do you know what happened?

[yasei]

[ Sometimes people are really good at jumping and climbing. Obi is. ]

Don’t worry about that~

[ He stands up, peering further out into the distance. ]

As far as I can see, at least. But I don’t know, the sort of things they have here are beyond me.

[darkestbefore]

Beyond me, as well, much of the time. But I know this street is normally well-lit, even during the late hours of the night. This is very unusual.

[ And somewhat eerie. Unnerved, she wraps her arms around her and casts a glance around her nervously. Even with her eyes adjusted to the blackness, she can't see much past where she stands. ]

[yasei]

So you’re from somewhere without these sort of things too, miss?

[ He hums thoughtfully. Honestly, he’s curious about what’s going on but he’s also, the last few years at least, learned to not just leave a person when they’re under distress. Mistress and Master would not be very pleased with him if he just ditched the miss to go explore. ]

It would be odd it if extended to the Far Shore. Maybe there’s a temple close by so we can go back.

[darkestbefore]

I am. It makes things even more confusing than they would normally be, I'm finding.

[ Still, she glances up at that comment, which reminds her that they do have a way out of this that would be simple enough. ]

Ahh... I could take us back, if you'd like? Although do you think it's alright to leave things like this here?

[yasei]

Me too. [ He jumps down from the lamp, lightly landing in front of her. ] It’s a really weird place.

[ There are ways, yep. They could figure things out. ]

We can’t really do anything right now, so I don’t think it would make a difference if we left.

[darkestbefore]

[ She gives a quiet squeak when he suddenly appears in front of her, but at least she can make him out a little easier now that he is this close. Not much, however. But he at least has a distinctive shape now rather than a bodiless voice somewhere above her. ]

You're probably right. Very well. Shall we go? [ She holds out a hand to him in invitation, eager to be away from this place and the eerie feeling she has creeping up her spine. Is something watching them? ]

[yasei]

[ The disembodied ghost has come to haunt you, boo~

He notices her squeak, and grins at her. Then he’s the one to be surprised, though he doesn’t show it much. He doesn’t often hold hands with people. He really doesn’t often hold hands with people.

But they might lose each other (or, rather, she might lose him) if they don’t. So after a few moments he takes the offered hand. ]
