TEST DRIVE # 17



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Courtly Cadavers

Several dead bodies have very suddenly returned to life. Not only that, but they seem to be possessed by very courteous and polite spirits. So there are reports of half-rotten beings bowing down to young ladies and kissing their hands or holding open doors for other passersby. It's really nice, sure, but also really disturbing.

Dark Deeds

In the middle of the night, there is a spirit that keeps turning off all of the street lamps. Fortunately, there aren't many cars on the roads at this time. Unfortunately, the spirit is also putting out all of the cars' headlights as well. And no cell phone lights or flashlights work during that time either and it's starting to cause a lot of accidents.

Endless Eight

There are eight blocks in downtown Tokyo that have taken to repeating endlessly. As you reach the end of the eight block, you find yourself stepping onto the first block again. No amount of turning or redirecting yourself will allow you to leave the eight blocks - until you stop by a cafe with a couple of bunny girls out front and make a purchase, that is.

Further Forward

Many in Tokyo want nothing more than to be on the cutting edge of technology! And there are some wealthy people who want to be even further ahead than everyone else. That's why they've sent out a general call for new types of technology to be brought to them. And if what you bring is impressive enough, you might get yourself a nice reward~

Giant Goats

Several farms on the outskirts of the city have reported a very sudden and tremendous growth in their goats. That's right, there are two-story tall goats hanging out with the other farm animals. Other than being very large, they seem mostly the same. But since goats will eat anything, well... Let's just say a couple of farmers are going to need new barns soon.

[Courtly Cadavers]

Oh, excuse me.

[Shion accidentally bumps his shoulder against someone and turns to apologize. Unfortunately that someone turns out to be something. A dead body come back to life that is now turning back to him to take his hand and—

... Kiss it.

Shion’s eyes go wide and he struggles with what he should do. Pull away? Scream? Take a picture? Stare...?]

Please... Um...

[Endless Eight]

This is completely ridiculous. It makes no sense.

[Shion sighs and furrows his eyebrows. He’s sure he’s seen this café at least three times on his way back to his home temple. He turns to look up the normal looking street and then back down it. Is something playing tricks on his eyes?

Looking lost and a little perplexed, Shion continues down the street without another glance at the bunny girls. And sure enough he sees the same café again after a few minutes of walking.]

Something is playing a trick on me.

[Shion, do you not see those bunny girls waving at you?]

[Giant Goats]

[It’s not only the farmers that might need help dealing with the goats. It is Shion too. Shion’s abnormal white color hair and red eyes seems to have caught the attention of the goats and they’ve started chasing after him.]

A-Ahh!

[All Shion can do is run. which isn’t very fast because what is cardio The goats are gaining on him and who knows what will happen to him if they get him in their mouths or under their hooves. Help!]

Giant Goats

[freezetheheavens]

[The moment Toushirou notices the poor boy running, he's quick to flash step towards him.

With a wave of his sword, he freezes the goats in their tracks before lifting Shion up effortlessly and flash stepping away - a good miles away from the goats.]

[asterflower]

[Oh my god what is happening-

One moment he's running the next moment he's being carried away like a potato sack.]

Ahh!! ... Who- Who are you!? Please put me down??

[freezetheheavens]

[He'll drop Shion down, sheathing his sword.]

You might want to keep hidden a bit longer. Those goats might end up noticing you again.

[asterflower]

[Shion ungracefully lands on his feet with a stumble, hand going over his chest like he's had a slight heart attack. He's never going to get used to these gods doing abrupt things like that.]

... Thank you. I'm not sure why they were so interested... in me.

[freezetheheavens]

[Toushirou glances over at him.]

It could've been your unnatural appearance. [As if that makes things any better.]

Either way, they could have also seen you as food.

endless eight

[forreal]

[Ryuji, who's been following a little behind Shion, rubs at the back of his neck in confusion... not at the fact that they seem to be going around in circles but...]

Dude, why are there so many girls in bunny suits wavin' at us? [His pace slows to almost a crawl when he chances a glance over his shoulder again, and one of them blows a kiss in his direction as he returns a sheepish wave back. Gulp.] That's probably the third set of 'em we've passed.

[Ryuji...]

[asterflower]

[Shion slows to a stop and glances the way Ryuji has. He looks a bit shocked and then a pink blush grows on his cheeks. He turns way. Well, he's not wrong, why are there so many bunny girls?!]

Maybe they're popular in this city. It has nothing to do with us, though.

[forreal]

How's this got nothin' to do with us?

[He throws a hand over Shion's shoulder and turns him back to the girls, all of whom giggle and wave delicately.]

They're totally into you.

[asterflower]

[Shion stares at Ryuji, a somewhat exasperated look on his face.]

... Ryuji-san. If it's anyone they want to see, it's you. Not me.

[forreal]

[Yeah, keep stroking his ego. Best idea you've had all day, Shion.]

Ya think so? [Wait, NO!!! They have other things they need to worry about, don't they?] Alright, how 'bout this. We try and get the hell outta... whatever the eff this is, and if we see 'em again, we'll know it's fate.

[See? He's got his priorities straight.]

Giant Goats

[demonicbookworm]

[Thankfully somebody notices him! Though Ruca is staring for the first two second before he makes a panicked look. What should he do? Those goats will eat that guy!]

H-hang in there!

[And he jumps in front of the other, muttering a spell under his breath before a few fireballs appear. He's not aiming to hurt the goats, he just wants to scare them away.]

[asterflower]

Ack--!!

[When someone jumps in all Shion can do is stumble and fall, turning to land on his bottom. He watches with wide eyes as those fireballs appear.

The goats reel and wail loudly before scampering off in another direction.]

You...

[demonicbookworm]

[When the goats get away from them, Ruca lets a deep sigh of relief, his entire body bowing as if he's exhausted. The fire itself disappears.]

...It worked. I'm so glad. [He murmurs and then he remembers about the other.]

Ah.

[He quickly straightens himself and turns around, rushing to the other boy's side and extending his hand to help him up.]

A-are you okay? [He gives him a concerned look.]

Y-yes. Thank you.

[Shion takes the hand gratefully and stands. He doesn't quite let go as he starts to inspect the other with a curious and critical eye.]

You used some sort of other worldly power, didn't you? You look strained. You shouldn't push yourself.

[demonicbookworm]

[An awkward smile appears on his face when the other boy starts inspecting him.]

N-no. I'm fine! [He really is, promise. He just... panicked too much.] And... [He hesitates.] ...Yes. That was magic actually.

[Nobody will judge him for that here... right?]

Endless Eight - shinki frands out & about?

[pinkyswearsis]

[Nunally's even less sure what's going on, considering her blindness. She's rolling around in a wheelchair that Shion could push if he wanted, but otherwise she can wheel herself. She can tell they're looping from her internal compass, but not why.

Then she hears the voices.]

Ah, did you hear that just now? Someone else is speaking nearby. Is there anyone else here with us?

[asterflower]

[Shion will move behind the chair to help push her so she can rest easy.]

Hmm? I don't ... [He glances around and notices that they're are some girls nearby chattering.] There's a coffee shop nearby with some girls speaking to each other.

[And making googly eyes at them but Shion doesn't register that.]

[pinkyswearsis]

[She sits back in her chair, hands folded in her lap and a prim posture as she clearly listens closer. Then she nods.]

Ah, yes, they do sound like they are service workers. There is no one besides them - other than us - would you agree?

[Because that seems weird to her, for this seeming to have been a busy street not too long ago.]

[asterflower]

[Her keen sense has Shion paying attention. He slows them to a stop and glances around. It's quiet, aside from the giggling girls that are whispering to each other.

He sighs.] In reality this place should be littered with people. So the only seemingly logical cause of that is something supernatural...

[He believes in science. He's never going to get used to this sort of afterlife.]

giant man-eating goats..!

[likethelight]

[ Sir are you implying white hair and weird eyes invites trouble? Would you also imply weird red facial marks bring the same...?!

(Oh.)

Still, the yelp draws Allen from his own somewhat confused distracted thoughts as he was trying to debate how exactly... one... deals with goats the size of buildings... it's not like you can just. Fight them. It's a little weird even for him.

Which is also why after a moment Shion might notice he's not alone—and that another white-haired boy has appeared. The archangel-god settling down from seemingly nowhere at his side as lightly as a ghost—as white and seeming to glow softly as one too, wrapped as he is in an downy white cloak trimmed in gold, a mask of silver and gold nestled in the fluff. ]

Please try to hold on—

[ Such straightforward and polite concern...! Like he does this all the time.

And also the only warning Shion will get before Allen loops an arm around his middle and lifts him up. Be glad it's the right (and mostly human) one? ]

[asterflower]

[It has to be the cause of all this trouble! Just look, one white haired boy being chased by giant goats now having to get another white haired boy to save him and getting him wrapped up in all this too! It's all connected! It must be!

Shion can't do much else but gasp and stare wide-eyed at the figure that comes to his rescue. A god clearly- with the way he appears before his eyes and glows with some sort of supernatural luminescence.]

Ahhh!

[As soon as his toes leave the ground Shion just wraps his arms around the god and clings to dear life because what else can he do?]

... Thank... you! [He's sort of out of breath, one second.]

[ This is why only one of them generally exists somewhere at a time. It's probably how the universe will end.

But, hup! Let's just hope for the best shall we. Now he could try and outrun them, but it would seem the goats that were already intrigued by Shion are even more intrigued by another, fluffier version. That sure is a lot of excited bleating.

Maybe he didn't really think this through........... ]

[ Or it's lucky that he keeps forgetting his own capabilities in this form. ]

A moment, please! [ Because one leap, two—please don't get sick Shion, he knows exactly how unsettling it is to get carried this fast unfortunately—and he's cleared beyond eyesight of the goats. Probably by... a mile?

Even Allen is a little surprised as he comes to a stop in a field. Is that how it was for Lenalee?

But sheepish is as sheepish does as he starts to set the other boy back on his feet and will help balance him if he needs to. Being very mindful and ginger with his left hand and will only help brace with the inside of his wrist.

It's a very large claw after all. ]

Are you alright?

[Don't look down! Don't look down! Shion can feel the wind rustling his hair and he knows they're somewhere high up and going very fast. He decides to just shut his eyes tightly until they can touch down on real ground again. The world spins as Shion rests his hands on his knees as he tries to finish catching his breath.

He's never going to get used to gods doing godly things.]

... I'm alright. Thank you. I'm not sure I would have gotten- [Glancing up Shion catches sight of that claw and-] Ahh! Your- Your hand!!

[... Never going to get used to supernatural god things.]
