TEST DRIVE # 17



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Courtly Cadavers

Several dead bodies have very suddenly returned to life. Not only that, but they seem to be possessed by very courteous and polite spirits. So there are reports of half-rotten beings bowing down to young ladies and kissing their hands or holding open doors for other passersby. It's really nice, sure, but also really disturbing.

Dark Deeds

In the middle of the night, there is a spirit that keeps turning off all of the street lamps. Fortunately, there aren't many cars on the roads at this time. Unfortunately, the spirit is also putting out all of the cars' headlights as well. And no cell phone lights or flashlights work during that time either and it's starting to cause a lot of accidents.

Endless Eight

There are eight blocks in downtown Tokyo that have taken to repeating endlessly. As you reach the end of the eight block, you find yourself stepping onto the first block again. No amount of turning or redirecting yourself will allow you to leave the eight blocks - until you stop by a cafe with a couple of bunny girls out front and make a purchase, that is.

Further Forward

Many in Tokyo want nothing more than to be on the cutting edge of technology! And there are some wealthy people who want to be even further ahead than everyone else. That's why they've sent out a general call for new types of technology to be brought to them. And if what you bring is impressive enough, you might get yourself a nice reward~

Giant Goats

Several farms on the outskirts of the city have reported a very sudden and tremendous growth in their goats. That's right, there are two-story tall goats hanging out with the other farm animals. Other than being very large, they seem mostly the same. But since goats will eat anything, well... Let's just say a couple of farmers are going to need new barns soon.

[It was Gohan's attention she was after, not the goat! She stiffens, taking a few steps back once it turns to her. Just before she can do much else she's swept off her feet into the air. There's a brief startled yell but its short, you'd think after these years she'd be use to someone swooping in to save her from some creature...in this case, giant goat.

Still a little warning would be nice! But it's better then being goat food.]

[She sighs and looks down at the goat.]

I don't suppose you could hit it hard enough to knock it out?

[Not kill but at least K.O it. Of course then comes the issue of a giant passed out goat but at least the buildings and such would be safe.]

[He bows his head a little again.]

Alright. I've heard of borderlines, a type of shinki magic.

Also... What should I call you?

Once we're settled, we can start working on that. At least, that way, you can have a definite way of protecting yourself.

[If he can teach kido, that'd be even better, but he's not so sure about Shion's reiatsu.]

Even so, Gohan hovers in the air with her as he takes in the sight of the goat still running around.]

I could. Gotta lure it away from all of the buildings first.

[If he kills it--Well, that's completely by accident. Gohan brings Bulma to a relatively safer area, hovering down enough so that he can place her down on her feet.]

No, it's okay! It's not your fault that all!

[He waves his hand a little.]

...I just find it a little sad. Memories are important... [He knows all too well about it. But then he shakes his head. This isn't what he is supposed to talk about! After all shinki... shouldn't remember because something bad might happened to them.

Quick! He needs to talk about something else!]

A-anyway! This place is really different from my world. Like... the technology! It's so advanced here!

It's not, but we can't have spirits possessing bodies on a whim.

[If there were Hollows around, it'd be like a feeding ground to them, especially with this much spiritual energy coming around.

But he stares blankly when the woman is spurred into action, running away.]

[He sighs, glancing at the corpse as it seems to be sulking.]

[The other question is harder. A specialty is a specialty.] ...What you're good at.

[The cadavers aren't particularly dangerous, and they could probably just walk through the crowd, but she doesn't want to go into it without knowing what her working-together person can do.]

Even if it's just god or shinki abilities. We should know these things. [She holds up her brush. Yes, a brush, about as long as her forearm, with a dandy dangling thing at the end.] Mine is combat.

[...Real specific there, Rekka.]

[She wasn't suspicious before, but the caginess doesn't escape her notice, and she turns to him fully.]

What type of powder is it?

[As long as it's not something like learning how to use a sword or throw a punch.]

I'll do my best, I don't want to be a burden on you forever, Hitsugaya-san.

[Shut up, she's not like the rest of you freaky saiyans! She's getting too old for this...]

Or pick it up and put it somewhere else. C'mon on Gohan, I swear you forget how strong you are sometimes.

[Her arms that held loosely around his neck slowly let go as her feet touch the ground. She straightens her shirt and looks to him. Blinking her eyes narrow, almost glare, up at him before stepping forward and grabbing his chin. It's gentle but firm mother-like touch as she turns his face this way and that.]

....You look different. I just can't put my finger on how. Less mature maybe?

[It's really bugging her! But there is a giant goat runing around so she lets go of his face. Frowning slightly, Bulma pointing in the direction of the goat]

We can catch up after you take care of that.

Toushirou breathes out, a glance at her brush. It's definitely not the strangest weapon he's seen, so it goes over him quite well.]

[A: Endless Eight]

[At the end of the loop, when Tieria steps from the eighth block back to the first, the first thing he does is check behind an unobtrusive garbage can. Armed with a roll of bright red flagging tape, he’d been marking small, out of the way areas as he'd passed through in an attempt to prove if the area was truly trapped in a loop or if there was a different cause. It isn't until he sees the first mark he’d left behind, untouched and exactly as he'd left it, that Tieria feels confident confirming the veracity of the reports.]

So it is supernatural in nature... Then, what is the source?

[He could be commenting to his companion or to himself, depending on if anyone joined him for his investigation.]

[B: Jumping Jellyfish] (from TDM #13)

For some strange reason, a bunch of jellyfish have taken to literally jumping out of the ocean and all over the beaches. They seem to be scared of something in the water, but be that as it may, they're scaring away all the beach tourism! Quick, figure out how to get them back in the water!

[The beach is supposed to be a place for people to relax, to unwind while surrounded by the refreshing beauty of nature. It’s a place of peace, and generally speaking, things like weapons and murder are probably looked down upon.

So it’s a good thing that Tieria is a resident of the Far Shore or else he would’ve certainly stood out; poised at the end of a dock in business casual and armed with a handgun, he’s been systematically shooting down any jellyfish that dares to make their way to the beach. It’s solving one problem but creating another, as the living who have not been scared away in the first place are growing increasingly concerned over the amount of dead jellyfish washing ashore.]

He doesn't like using his strength, but desperate measures calls for desperate measures.

A blink when she grabs hold of his chin. It reminds him of his own mother and of the many times Bulma herself has done it in the past. It almost makes him feel nostalgic. Before he can say anything, he grins at her.]

Alright. Be back in a flash.

[And with that, he'll fly off and fly the giant goat to a very far away place where it won't hurt anyone or anything.]

[Excuse her as she leans right in to get a closer look at the glowing ball of energy. She's never seen anything like this...well that she remembers anyway.]

Life energy....

[Does that mean he's dying a little more everytime he uses it?That's...a awful power. No thanks.

Standing upright again, she glances over to the bunny girls not looking all that interested. Of course he would notice them though.]

What makes you think they can help?

[She smirks a bit, looking away.]

If you want to go talk to some bunny girls dont use me as an excuse!

[ This is why only one of them generally exists somewhere at a time. It's probably how the universe will end.

But, hup! Let's just hope for the best shall we. Now he could try and outrun them, but it would seem the goats that were already intrigued by Shion are even more intrigued by another, fluffier version. That sure is a lot of excited bleating.

A moment, please! [ Because one leap, two—please don't get sick Shion, he knows exactly how unsettling it is to get carried this fast unfortunately—and he's cleared beyond eyesight of the goats. Probably by... a mile?

Even Allen is a little surprised as he comes to a stop in a field. Is that how it was for Lenalee?

But sheepish is as sheepish does as he starts to set the other boy back on his feet and will help balance him if he needs to. Being very mindful and ginger with his left hand and will only help brace with the inside of his wrist.

It's a very large claw after all. ]

Why would I use you as an excuse to talk to them?

[Really, why would he? He rubs the back of his head.]

Aside from you, they're the only ones here and it's weird we keep coming back to this exact same spot.

[Something about this angry small child reminded him of Keeper Marethari, except smaller and cuter and not as scary.

Oh and he was a mage too! Didn't look dressed warm enough to be using winter magic though. didn't his ears get cold? Well, she should probably thank him, even if she couldn't give him a hat. Patting him on the head was a good encouraging gesture for children, right? Right.]

[Merrill looked around at the shops. She hadn't thought of trying to memorize those. though in her defense the crack sort of looked like a frowny face if she squinted at it, and thus was rather memorable.]

You know, I've tried reasoning with them...

[ This isn't the first of the charming undead to have cornered her today, unfortunately. It certainly wasn't the worst they could be doing, not by a long shot, but last time one of those creatures left a bit of their lip on her hand. ]

The only thing that seemed to work was a swift smack to the head. Not that I stuck around to see if they stayed down.

[ Not that the girl seemed to have anything to smack them with at the time. ]

[ While he had noticed that someone was below him, he had only had to cast a glance down at the stranger to be able to tell that she was no threat. ]

[ His voice turns cheerful, and he waves at her, though he's not sure she can see him. But he's very bothered by the thought that she might not. ]

[ Except how can you even tell.

He's sounding very cheerful and in reality, he's finding the situation amusing. A rejection should be blunt, anyway, he's just messing around a bit. ]

[ Obi is sitting on top of one of the lamp post she just fixed that turned off again. He had not been sitting there just a moment ago, while she was fixing it.

Now he's watching her from there though, arms resting relaxed against his legs. ]

Is computers some new kind of weapon?

[ When she hits the corpse she knocks it backward, and it knocks into Obi. He's not really bothered by corpses (even if wandering corpses are really weird) so for a brief second he only blinks at the corpse, eyes moving between it and the girl, and then he smiles half-apologetically at the corpse. ]

I'm sure you were just my type while you were alive, mister, but I'm sorry, you're a little too dead for my taste.

[ Because pretending that a corpse someone knocked into you is flirting with you is totally normal. Well, if he couldn't joke about things then where would he be? ]

And maybe the same goes for the miss?
