TEST DRIVE # 17



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Courtly Cadavers

Several dead bodies have very suddenly returned to life. Not only that, but they seem to be possessed by very courteous and polite spirits. So there are reports of half-rotten beings bowing down to young ladies and kissing their hands or holding open doors for other passersby. It's really nice, sure, but also really disturbing.

Dark Deeds

In the middle of the night, there is a spirit that keeps turning off all of the street lamps. Fortunately, there aren't many cars on the roads at this time. Unfortunately, the spirit is also putting out all of the cars' headlights as well. And no cell phone lights or flashlights work during that time either and it's starting to cause a lot of accidents.

Endless Eight

There are eight blocks in downtown Tokyo that have taken to repeating endlessly. As you reach the end of the eight block, you find yourself stepping onto the first block again. No amount of turning or redirecting yourself will allow you to leave the eight blocks - until you stop by a cafe with a couple of bunny girls out front and make a purchase, that is.

Further Forward

Many in Tokyo want nothing more than to be on the cutting edge of technology! And there are some wealthy people who want to be even further ahead than everyone else. That's why they've sent out a general call for new types of technology to be brought to them. And if what you bring is impressive enough, you might get yourself a nice reward~

Giant Goats

Several farms on the outskirts of the city have reported a very sudden and tremendous growth in their goats. That's right, there are two-story tall goats hanging out with the other farm animals. Other than being very large, they seem mostly the same. But since goats will eat anything, well... Let's just say a couple of farmers are going to need new barns soon.

[Telling her it's because she's dead seems counter productive.

So, he decides not to mention that.]

You should find your god. Who knows if the next spirit that comes out turns out to be an ayakashi.

It's not the answer Allen is used to hearing from other gods and shinki. Not against so unsightly an undead; what everyone would see as a monster even if these are so well-mannered it's a little unsettling.

The other boy-god drops down beside him, expression clear and a bit curious. Don't mind him.

Or his black and blood red left eye and how he seems to be looking through the cadaver. ]

These aren't their normal bodies. [ It's said so conversationally, as if by means of explanation. 'sup ]

[ Although he sweats a bit when the woman who had been approached initially is spurred into reacting finally when a third weird person shows up... and runs away with a scream. First that thing and then two of those strange boys came out of nowhere!! "M-monsters!!"

Oh, you'd be surprised at what people would pray for if they thought someone was listening to fulfill it.

[Not that she ever bothered with prayer before she got here. Nope, she did her own dirt. Or made others do it for her. It was definitely one of the benefits of being able to read people.

But, you know, she's angry that whoever is doing this nearly killed her in the dark. What kind of death was that? What kind of despair and chaos would that cause? NONE! It's pointless, useless and idiotic. Only morons die like that.

And she's never been called a moron.

But wow is this lady some sort of annoying bitch.]

Yeah, well, you'd think that as the person behind the wheel of a deathmobile, the driver has more of an obligation to be careful and not drive a zillion miles an hour on a residential street in the middle of the blackout.

Me? I'm just an innocent bystander. Duh.

Not 'key', Ki [Lifting his hand, he provides an example by gathering an orb of Ki onto his palm.]

It's life energy, or that's how we call it back in my world.

[But he makes it vanish and rubs the back of his head.

No, they're putting people off.

[ Hibiki is also sitting, cross-legged, on this bench. She has a fancy cup of tea on a saucer. She's not drinking it. ]

Making the other party at ease is the height of courtesy. [ With a sniff, she brings her teacup to her lips. ] Attempting to do so with a repugnant aspect disgraces the art of chivalry itself.

[ EXTREMELY JUDGMENTAL TEA SIP. ]

Endless Eight

If I knew, would I remain here?

[ But, no. That's raising her voice to a young lady. Hibiki sighs, comports herself. This is not even the first time she's been stopped where she needs to go during a Test Drive Meme! Truly intolerable. ]

Honestly, what an unpleasant trick....

Goats

[While Bulma knows Saiyans don't age nearly as fast as humans there's something about Gohan that doesn't look right. He just somehow looks younger. Its hard to tell exactly...maybe the lack of glasses? He is up in the air too, maybe its a trick of light?

Oh well point is that this is a familiar face. Shame it isn't Beerus or Vegeta though. Oh, how she would love to boast about being a powerful god and rub it into Beerus' smug face!

With one hand on her hip, she smiles to herself as she looks up at the half-saiyan.]

Hey, Gohan! You aren't going to just let it keep eating everything are you?

[As the young girl saw a mysterious masked figure right before her, she couldn't help but stare in awe at what was before her! Especially when he called her a princess, she just had to giggle at that!

Although...!]

Say what now? What's a ....hors...deures?

[The question stymies her for a second, because she keeps everything in her coat. Everything.]

[She looks over.] Where was it, then?

[This question is very important to figuring out what's up with the goats, you see.]

[dragonflood]

There has to be. [No explanation forthcoming for why she thinks that...]

[She glances up as a fish-like creature zooms to their location, swims up to Rekka for a second, and then takes off again.] This way.

["This way" being through a line of polite cadavers. Good work, fish.]

...What's your specialty? [If she'd thought about it more carefully, she would've worded that differently, but being a member of a secretive order makes her take certain things for granted, and Makai Priests tend to have specialties.]

Long enough, also. [Overlong, even. She cut through an alley once, but it brought her back, same as if she were on the street.]

You were headed to the library? I wasn't... [So this oddness must not have reacted to their intent. Instead of saying so, though, she takes a different tack.] What can you do?

[Ryuji has never seen anything quite like what he's seeing now. He's seen some pretty big goats, but this is all kinds of messed up. He's standing next to Makoto with his jaw hanging open, not even hearing her as he watches the goat stomp around. No - there isn't an actual word in his vocabulary to describe the way goats that are the size of apartment buildings walk. Not that his vocabulary is very broad...

Just, like... give him a few more seconds.]

Uhhh, it was... y'know...

[Cue awkward laughter. Very awkward laughter as he rubs at the back of his neck.]

Was a figure of speech or whatever they're called. I don't actually have... any protein powder. I was jokin'.

[Because you know, that's what people use to buff up and... the goats are...yeah.]

[A curious glance at the fish-like creature.]

How are you so sure about this way?

[But given how it's the only lead they got, he won't argue too much.

A slow blink.]

You'll need to elaborate on what you mean by 'specialty'.

Bulma?

[A slow blink in her direction but upon hearing his name, at least he's assured that she's not a shinki.

The goat, on the other hand, doesn't seem to give it much mind since it's aiming for her now.

Gohan quickly swoops in and picks Bulma out, flying her up into the air for safety before she ends up becoming goat food. He blinks a few times as he does a quick survey of the land, trying to find a good place for the goats to eat and stay there.]

[asterflower]

[Would you be? Have you seen his arms?

Shion can be very insecure about his lack of physical strength.]

... I don't know where to start with any of that.

[asterflower]

R-Ryuji-san...

[Shion looks distressed. He really has no interest in chatting up bunny girls oh my gosh. If this is happening Ryuji is going to have to drag him.]

I doubt they're actually interested in us...

[asterflower]

[Shion shakes his head.]

You don't have to be. I'm enjoying hearing about your magic and world. I was just commenting that it would be nice to share my own stories too. I didn't mean to make you feel awkward about that.

[It's just the way things are.]

[freezetheheavens]

[Shion, what are they going to do with you.

Toushirou holds back a sigh.]

We can talk more about this in a more secure area. [And not in the open like this.] But shinki are able to use borderlines, correct? We can focus on practicing with those first.

[asterflower]

[It has to be the cause of all this trouble! Just look, one white haired boy being chased by giant goats now having to get another white haired boy to save him and getting him wrapped up in all this too! It's all connected! It must be!

Shion can't do much else but gasp and stare wide-eyed at the figure that comes to his rescue. A god clearly- with the way he appears before his eyes and glows with some sort of supernatural luminescence.]

Ahhh!

[As soon as his toes leave the ground Shion just wraps his arms around the god and clings to dear life because what else can he do?]

... Thank... you! [He's sort of out of breath, one second.]
