TEST DRIVE # 17



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Courtly Cadavers

Several dead bodies have very suddenly returned to life. Not only that, but they seem to be possessed by very courteous and polite spirits. So there are reports of half-rotten beings bowing down to young ladies and kissing their hands or holding open doors for other passersby. It's really nice, sure, but also really disturbing.

Dark Deeds

In the middle of the night, there is a spirit that keeps turning off all of the street lamps. Fortunately, there aren't many cars on the roads at this time. Unfortunately, the spirit is also putting out all of the cars' headlights as well. And no cell phone lights or flashlights work during that time either and it's starting to cause a lot of accidents.

Endless Eight

There are eight blocks in downtown Tokyo that have taken to repeating endlessly. As you reach the end of the eight block, you find yourself stepping onto the first block again. No amount of turning or redirecting yourself will allow you to leave the eight blocks - until you stop by a cafe with a couple of bunny girls out front and make a purchase, that is.

Further Forward

Many in Tokyo want nothing more than to be on the cutting edge of technology! And there are some wealthy people who want to be even further ahead than everyone else. That's why they've sent out a general call for new types of technology to be brought to them. And if what you bring is impressive enough, you might get yourself a nice reward~

Giant Goats

Several farms on the outskirts of the city have reported a very sudden and tremendous growth in their goats. That's right, there are two-story tall goats hanging out with the other farm animals. Other than being very large, they seem mostly the same. But since goats will eat anything, well... Let's just say a couple of farmers are going to need new barns soon.

Kittens! But Teddie is the only bear he needs!

[ Not the same thing Ted. Sorry... ]

[Izuku's pretty sure he stepped somewhere weird because how many times has he seen this exact same building? He stops nearby to rub his temple like it'll help.

And then Uraraka is coming up to him? Like she doesn't know him and his heart aches for a moment. Just... just how many of his friends are dead because he wasn't at home...?

He forces himself to swallow the emotion.]

I think I'm trapped too.

[freezetheheavens]

...Magic.

[He says it in a very deadpan voice.]

But the main concern should be the spirit before it causes more accidents.

[ Is he under the impression that he is an actual bear...? ]

W-well, I'm sure that if you're important to him, he won't have replaced you.

[asterflower]

My... [Well, Shion can't really argue that. The white hair, the red eyes, the strange scar on his body. The memory loss really doesn't help.

He fidgets with his jacket.]

Goats are primarily known for eating shrubbery and weeds. But they do have a reputation for mistaking anything for food...

[A sigh...]

[asterflower]

[Shion slows to a stop and glances the way Ryuji has. He looks a bit shocked and then a pink blush grows on his cheeks. He turns way. Well, he's not wrong, why are there so many bunny girls?!]

Maybe they're popular in this city. It has nothing to do with us, though.

[lifts]

[All your friends are dead.]

Ah, I guess that's not surprising. It'd be worrisome to be the only person trapped here. Not that I would want you to be stuck in this situation with me. [She lets out a small sigh.] But maybe we can get out of this if we work together! I must have walked through this block at least four times. What about you?

[fullcowl]

[Why...]

No, I get it. Better to have company than getting totally lost alone, right?

I think I'm on my third lap.

Courtly Cadavers

[As if this place was at any shortage of weird, more and more surprises seem to be popping up like tulips in the spring. On one hand, it's kinda cool in that he'll never get bored, but on the other hand?

Well, the other hand is currently being held and gently caressed in the palm of some half-dead freak, or a really good cosplayer... he can't tell anymore. Ryuji is so caught up in his own shock and if he's at all honest with himself, the fact that he's almost shitting his pants at this, that it takes a moment to react. It's when he feels the dry, scaly lips press against the soft, delicate skin of his hands that his reaction comes out in such a physically exaggerated manner that he could almost take out anyone who might be within reach of him.]

YO!! [He's going to be really loud about this too, apparently.] The hell man!? Prank gone too far. So not appreciatin' the gesture. You can hold a door open for me, but I draw the line at a dead man's lips on my hand!

[Help...?]

Endless Eight

[Alright. He's pretty sure he hasn't been looking at his phone upside-down, so when he finds himself right back at the start again, Ryuji's feet come to a screaming halt and he whips around to check behind him. For what? He's not really sure but something feels off about all of this and it's giving him the heebie jeebies. He can definitely count and he's up to three times now where the cute girls in the bunny outfits are calling out to him and beckoning him over.

Don't get him wrong - if it weren't for him being so damn confused right now, he'd take them up on the offer. He's more angry about the fact that he can't find his way around which prompts him to turn to the nearest person - you - and does what only the bravest of men do... the manliest of men. For he is a man's man.]


Uh, hey. [Sheepish smile as he half-turns his phone to show the map.] I'm tryin' to get to this bakery... any idea how to get there?

[He asks for directions.]

Giant Goats

[Give him a second. He's gotta rub his eyes for this one because either he hasn't been getting enough sleep since he got here and he's lost his damn mind or... no, there's no other explanation for it. He's definitely losing it. There is no way in hell those are goats the size of two story buildings grazing around on these farms. All he can really do is stand there for now, watching them with a dead look in his eyes.]

Guess that explains where all my protein powder went.

Wildcard!

[Got something else? Slam it down!]

As long as you don't get eaten.

[At least it's not a Hollow.

He breathes out.]

In any case, I suggest finding somewhere safe to stay in the meantime.

Y-Yes! I would never think I'd get lost in Tokyo of all places, but I guess this is a unique situation. It isn't everyday that we'd be stuck on the same few blocks in some strange loop. Does it count as lost if we know where we are technically?

Not that semantics are important! I'm more concerned about getting out of this!

[forreal]

How's this got nothin' to do with us?

[He throws a hand over Shion's shoulder and turns him back to the girls, all of whom giggle and wave delicately.]

They're totally into you.

Yeah... Tokyo might be big, but you get used it pretty fast. But... this looping thing is new.

Maybe there's some kind of trick to get out of this? Like you have to talk to somebody or you need to do something specific? It's weird that there isn't anything that points it out, but I guess that's how some things are... [We've lost him to mumble city.]

[lifts]

That sounds like something in a video game!

[Like unlocking a quest or fulfilling a requirement to progress in the story so she thinks.

She doesn't say anything for a moment as Izuku devolves into mumbling. A moment longer and she breaks into laughter.] Ahahaha! You're silly. I don't know what you're saying, but you're taking this very seriously.

Eights

[Weird as that may be, what's really eye catching is the fact this guy can fly. A quick glance gives her no sign of wings or how he's doing it. Maybe it's a god thing?]

Have you tried walking? How are you doing that anyway?

[Regular people can't just float like that! She wants to do it too]

[fullcowl]

[He starts out of it and stumbles over what he's going to say before waving it off.] W-Well... looping around like this is pretty video game like too, right?! And I don't want to worry anybody by getting stuck here for too long.

[asterflower]

That's not ideal, no.

[He nods, a small grateful smile on his lips.]

Thank you for your help, I'll do just that.

[He turns and... looks around.]

You, um... Wouldn't mind using that skill of yours to... Put me back near the farm? I have to find my god.

[asterflower]

[Shion stares at Ryuji, a somewhat exasperated look on his face.]

... Ryuji-san. If it's anyone they want to see, it's you. Not me.

[lifts]

It kind of is!

[Uraraka sobers up at the statement about worrying anybody. She's dead, jerk!!! Can't just say that to someone who's dead!!! Who's going to miss someone that's dead. Other than apparently other dead people and maybe Gods. But dead still means dead.

She smiles though.] Wah... you're right. That just makes it more important that we get out of this.

Where are my manners. We haven't formally met have we? I'm Uraraka Ochako.

[forreal]

[Yeah, keep stroking his ego. Best idea you've had all day, Shion.]

Ya think so? [Wait, NO!!! They have other things they need to worry about, don't they?] Alright, how 'bout this. We try and get the hell outta... whatever the eff this is, and if we see 'em again, we'll know it's fate.

[See? He's got his priorities straight.]

Courtly

[That young lady happens to be Machi. Her eyes shift from the half-rotten corpses to the short white haired kid man in front of her. There's the faintest bit of tension in her hands but its gone as quickly as it came. From behind, Toushirou looks like someone fimilar, but only for brief moment.]

It's useless.

[fullcowl]

[Her god is probably worried about her wherever she is. He's pretty sure his shinki are going to worry if he's not back before dinner...]

We'll just have to try some things.

Ah... no, we haven't. [Yes, we have.] I'm Midoriya Izuku, but you can call me Deku.

[lifts]

Deku huh? [It's just the nickname she repurposed to become more acceptable than how Bakugou used it. No big deal.] I like that. Deku it is.

I feel like with Deku, we can definitely do it. [Hopefully, Izuku's heart isn't aching too much.]

Let's see what are on the blocks we keep saying. We can still enter buildings, right?
