TEST DRIVE # 15

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Sneaky Snakes

There are a number of snakes that have become possessed by a bunch of very sneaky ayakashi. They are slithering around, silently, snaring unsuspecting passersby into their trap - their trap to steal money. That's right, these snakes are busy snatching bills and coins from whoever they can. Try to put a stop to their thieving ways, or perhaps get thieved by them yourself.

Tummy Troubles

Many of the customers of a certain restaurant are complaining of the fact that their stomachs hurt after eating there. It could just be food poisoning, but many of these people are winding up in critical condition after a couple of days. It's time to figure out what the heck this cook is actually putting in the food.

Underwhelming Underwear

A family run business has been selling underwear for generations, but the underwear they sell is super boring and bland. Nobody wants to buy from them when cooler underwear is just around the corner. They've asked you to help them bring customers back in - by making their boring underwear seem as cool and hip as possible! How you do that is up to you.

Vividly Violet

There are so many ayakashi making their way through the air that at sunset the sky is turning an absolutely gorgeous shade of purple. Near Shore residents are reacting to this in varying ways. Many are delighted by the beautiful sky, but just as many are terrified that it's a sign of the end of times. Try to take down some ayakashi to make the sky less purple. Or just sit back and watch the beauty.

Wonder Wall

Anyways, there's this college boy who won't stop playing his acoustic guitar. He's from the US and is trying to pick up Japanese chicks. By now he should've somehow realized that they're totally not interested in him. But the song just keeps getting louder and louder and all that the people near the campus can hope is that today is gonna be the day that he stops playing. Maybe you're gonna be the one that saves them.

[ That's sorta necessary for scaring, right?

Although the latter option has him turning back towards the really annoying human with a speculating gaze. ]

Do you think breaking his guitar will actually get him to stop?

He can't play music if his instrument has daggers in it.

It's the singing that's the annoying part. [ Although his guitar playing is pretty terrible too. ] What, are you going to gag him, too?

He'll be too pissed off by his guitar breaking to sing. Out of my way.

[ Yata considers being difficult but in the end he... doesn't actually care that much. And if it gets the guy to shut up, then whatever, right?

So he just shrugs and takes a step back, kicking his skateboard up on end to let it rest against his hip while he stretches his arms back behind his head, his pose casual and indifferent. ]

Fine, whatever, knock yourself out.

[Fushimi rolls his eyes and sends the two daggers flying at the guitar. They hit their target and stop the singing.

Until the guy tosses it aside and just starts singing without the guitar]

...really?

[ Yata doubles over laughing, because the expression on the other shinki's face is priceless, even if the singing was still terrible. ]

Told you!

Tch.

[This guy is so fucking annoying. Fushimi readies two more daggers and throws them at the guy's feet, trying to scare him.

Nope!]

[ That just makes Yata laugh harder, dropping on his ass onto the grass as he laughs at the other shinki. ]

I guess you're not really all that scary, huh?

[Fushimi just glares at this idiot with him]

He has a death wish. Everyone else around him is fleeing, he's just too stupid.

You're just now figuring that out? What his singing for how long didn't give him away earlier.

Maybe you should gag him after all? [ Yata suggests with an oh-so-smug smirk. ]

Give me your beanie.

[If this guy's going to be a smug asshole, Fushimi will be a cold one.]

What? Hello no! [ Yata latches onto his hat possessively. ] You're the one that can't scare some idiot human. Use something of yours!

[Nope, the beanie is coming off. Fushimi starts to tug and if he gets some of the other's hair? Who cares]

I don't have anything. Give me the beanie.

You can't have it!

[ So annoying! Yata kicks out with his foot when the other guy grabs his beanie and some of his hair, intending to knock him off balance and free himself. ]

[It's the easiest thing in the world to dodge this idiot and keep a hold of the cap]

Then your jacket.

I have a better idea.

[ He spins, the move faster than it should be, something perfected from the hours he spends on his skateboard, a smooth strength as he grabs onto the shinki's arm and yanks, intending to upset his balance for real this time as he jerks himself out of reach in the other direction, foot lifting in an attempt to launch the other guy sideways at the last minute when he went where Yata suspected he would to right himself.

He might not be the brightest crayon in the box, but things like this? This was the sorta thing he had istinct for. ]

Why don't we just drop you on him instead? Maybe that will shut him up. Or knock him out. Either sounds like a good plan.

[Well, it works, though Fushimi manages to not land on his ass at any point in that little dance. He does stumble, though, and his glasses nearly go flying.]

Idiot. Why don't I throw you at him? Small, dense--you'd work perfectly.

What did you just call me?!

[ If he hadn't been irritated before, that certainly pushes him over the edge as he jumps to his feet and waves a fist at the other guy. ]

Small and dense?

[Fushimi just adjusts his glasses, letting one of his knives fall into his hand at the same time]

[ Oh, that does it. His temper igniting, Yata's Aura flares up and spills over to surround him, swirling about his form as he drops into an attack stance. ]

You can try, if you're feeling masochistic. Just don't cry when I kick your ass.

Tch.

[Fushimi promptly runs around behind Yata, faster than a human should, and throws the knives at him just as quickly.]

[ Except Yata is already moving, kicking his skateboard up beneath him and using it to deflect the blades into the air, catching one and knocking the other out of reach.

Smirking, he flips the blade once, looking rather pleased with himself.

Sorry, Fushimi. You're not the first asshole here who's tried to skewer him. And after his bout with Niles? He's been practicing. ~~Because he really doesn't want to ever be caught vulnerable by THAT guy~~. ]

[Fushimi harumphs before pulling out his last two.

Don't ask how he keeps so many knives stashed up his sleeves, okay?

This time, he runs at the other guy, one of the knives at the ready]
