TEST DRIVE # 15

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Sneaky Snakes

There are a number of snakes that have become possessed by a bunch of very sneaky ayakashi. They are slithering around, silently, snaring unsuspecting passersby into their trap - their trap to steal money. That's right, these snakes are busy snatching bills and coins from whoever they can. Try to put a stop to their thieving ways, or perhaps get thieved by them yourself.

Tummy Troubles

Many of the customers of a certain restaurant are complaining of the fact that their stomachs hurt after eating there. It could just be food poisoning, but many of these people are winding up in critical condition after a couple of days. It's time to figure out what the heck this cook is actually putting in the food.

Underwhelming Underwear

A family run business has been selling underwear for generations, but the underwear they sell is super boring and bland. Nobody wants to buy from them when cooler underwear is just around the corner. They've asked you to help them bring customers back in - by making their boring underwear seem as cool and hip as possible! How you do that is up to you.

Vividly Violet

There are so many ayakashi making their way through the air that at sunset the sky is turning an absolutely gorgeous shade of purple. Near Shore residents are reacting to this in varying ways. Many are delighted by the beautiful sky, but just as many are terrified that it's a sign of the end of times. Try to take down some ayakashi to make the sky less purple. Or just sit back and watch the beauty.

Wonder Wall

Anyways, there's this college boy who won't stop playing his acoustic guitar. He's from the US and is trying to pick up Japanese chicks. By now he should've somehow realized that they're totally not interested in him. But the song just keeps getting louder and louder and all that the people near the campus can hope is that today is gonna be the day that he stops playing. Maybe you're gonna be the one that saves them.

[Nope, the beanie is coming off. Fushimi starts to tug and if he gets some of the other's hair? Who cares]

I don't have anything. Give me the beanie.

You can't have it!

[ So annoying! Yata kicks out with his foot when the other guy grabs his beanie and some of his hair, intending to knock him off balance and free himself. ]

[It's the easiest thing in the world to dodge this idiot and keep a hold of the cap]

Then your jacket.

I have a better idea.

[ He spins, the move faster than it should be, something perfected from the hours he spends on his skateboard, a smooth strength as he grabs onto the shinki's arm and yanks, intending to upset his balance for real this time as he jerks himself out of reach in the other direction, foot lifting in an attempt to launch the other guy sideways at the last minute when he went where Yata suspected he would to right himself.

He might not be the brightest crayon in the box, but things like this? This was the sorta thing he had istinct for. ]

Why don't we just drop you on him instead? Maybe that will shut him up. Or knock him out. Either sounds like a good plan.

[Well, it works, though Fushimi manages to not land on his ass at any point in that little dance. He does stumble, though, and his glasses nearly go flying.]

Idiot. Why don't I throw you at him? Small, dense--you'd work perfectly.

What did you just call me?!

[ If he hadn't been irritated before, that certainly pushes him over the edge as he jumps to his feet and waves a fist at the other guy. ]

Small and dense?

[Fushimi just adjusts his glasses, letting one of his knives fall into his hand at the same time]

[ Oh, that does it. His temper igniting, Yata's Aura flares up and spills over to surround him, swirling about his form as he drops into an attack stance. ]

You can try, if you're feeling masochistic. Just don't cry when I kick your ass.

Tch.

[Fushimi promptly runs around behind Yata, faster than a human should, and throws the knives at him just as quickly.]

[ Except Yata is already moving, kicking his skateboard up beneath him and using it to deflect the blades into the air, catching one and knocking the other out of reach.

Smirking, he flips the blade once, looking rather pleased with himself.

Sorry, Fushimi. You're not the first asshole here who's tried to skewer him. And after his bout with Niles? He's been practicing. ~~Because he really doesn't want to ever be caught vulnerable by THAT guy~~. ]

[Fushimi harumphs before pulling out his last two.

Don't ask how he keeps so many knives stashed up his sleeves, okay?

This time, he runs at the other guy, one of the knives at the ready]

[ He really wishes he'd brought his polearm or something, but there's no easy way to carry that when he'd been in a hurry anyway. So he flips his skateboard down again, hopping on and skidding in a wide circle, keeping his distance until he needed to block, looking for an advantage against this guy. ]

Yo, asshole! We're supposed to be stopping the singing! Or did you forget? Although I don't see how. This is officially the worst background music to a fight ever.

You threatened me first, moron.

[Fushimi misses his chance to slice at the other shinki, though they do move closer to the human singing]

You threatened my hat!

[ That was clearly the bigger offense here.

He keeps circling, swivelling in a zigzag motion as he leads the guy on a chase. That might eventually get them closer to their target. Probably. ]

[He takes the change to pick up his other knives, still chasing the other guy]

I needed something to gag him with. I wasn't taking off my shirt!

Better your shirt than my hat!

[ He's still got one of the other shinki's knives but he's still keeping his distance, skating backwards now as they come closer to the human they were sent here to deal with.

Who is, somehow, singing even louder now. ]

You'd rather me go shirtless?

[Really?! Fushimi throws a knife]

[ He swerves to dodge, the blade zipping past his ear, a little too close for comfort. Damn, this guy was pretty good. ]

I don't care what you do, but it's not my fault your plan failed and now he's singing more.

Then give me your hat!

[They're getting closer and closer to the human. Either they're going to crash or one of the knives is going to end up getting him.]

No!

[ Did you forget they weren't supposed to kill him, Fushimi? Geeze, you're really bad at this whole following orders thing. ]

[It'd hit his leg, he'd be fine!]

How else am I going to gag him?

Maybe we should just feed him his guitar, think that'd work?

Or beat him over the head with it.

I dunno, I think he has a pretty thick head. Kinda like yours.

[ Yata smirks, swerving sideways once more as he circles around behind the human now, putting him in between himself and the other shinki. ]

[Too bad Fushimi just leans out of the way to throw another knife at the idiot. The human finally seems to notice something is very Off about what's going on, even if he can't seem to focus on the two fighting shinki]

Says the one who thought he could use me to know him out. As if you could even lift me.
