Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!
Noxious Neurotoxins
There's a few blocks of Tokyo that have been closed off completely and quarantined. It seems there's a deadly neurotoxin that's been detected in the area. But authorities claim there's no way that could have happened! Looks like this might be the work of an ayakashi. Try not to get infected.
The same obituary has been showing up in the papers for the last three weeks. It's for a young boy who died in a car accident. Thing is, this accident happened more than twenty years ago. A little ghost boy is just looking for some attention by printing his own death announcement over and over again. Spend a little time with him, would you?
A detective hailed as the greatest in his field has one heck of a time keeping a partner. But he needs one bad, so he's calling on random strangers to help him out. Unfortunately, he's very full of himself and not even that good at his job. Maybe that's why all his partners leave. It's up to you to help or hurt him!
Time to step up to the mic and make some jokes. A local bar needs performers - specifically comedic ones. You'd better be quick with your jokes or the audience is going to boo you off the stage, and then you won't get the payment you've been promised for doing a good job! Oh, and this is a request from a devote follower, so you'll lose that support too.
Some off-the-wall ayakashi have possessed a number of Roombas and are busily terrorizing people on the streets. That's right - small, round, automated vacuum cleaners are bothering the people of Tokyo. What's more, some kid thought it would be funny to tape knives to some of them. Watch out for Stabby and try to take out the spirit possessing it.

- which is all the opening Hibiki needs to shake the kid off, catch them by the butt before they can fall, and offer the child, one hand beneath their bottom and one hand propping up their back, to Elfnein like tonight's wine selection at a restaurant or something. ] Take it.
[ An assessing glance. Not much more than a child herself, this, but if she's going to do Hibiki's job for her so Hibiki can just sit on this bench and wait for the child to get tired and fall asleep, she won't object. ] You're the chaperone, correct? Here.
[ A brandish of baby. TAKE THIS SMOL. ]

[ Hibiki no, you don't hold a child like that! ]
You hold them with both hands in a cradle motion.
[ She's not taking the child, instead you're going to get a lecture on proper child handling. Since you can't play games and hold a child at the same time. ]

[ The toddler takes this opportunity to begin flailing everywhere, bopping Hibiki in the face with a fist. She sighs and adjusts her hold to the way Elfnein had suggested. The kid keeps squalling, but can't get free now.

[ She doesn't sound relieved. Instead, she looks a bit confused what she's supposed to do with the child while it is all safe and secure and un-hurt-able. Just? Keep it like this?? For how long???

And this person, here, isn't much more than a child herself. Despite the dispensing of advice. Hibiki turns to Elfnein again. ] So? What are you supposed to be, then, if not the chaperone?

[ ....That makes you either a god or a shinki. Hibiki's money is on "shinki", but she hasn't seen anything definitive one way or another.
The kid twists around in her arms and she has to wrestle it back into position. It twists again. She continues to struggle with the toddler while addressing Elfnein. Pay no attention to this thing her arms are doing. ] A strange companion.

[ Elfnein is worried about the toddler since they're just trying to get out of Hibiki's arms. ]

[ Child makes a break for it. Hibiki has to lean over, one foot nearly lifting off the ground, but she keeps the kid from wriggling completely out of her arms.
She returns her center of gravity to its usual position, physically turning the kid till it's belly-up in her hold. Rock it to stop this behavior? Like...what? This....?
This is the stiffest rocking to which any baby in the history of the planet has been subjected. She is Not Pleased with you, child. Behold her discomfort. ]
