TEST DRIVE # 12

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Daring Drinks

A couple of local bars are going out of their way to make new and interesting drinks for their customers to try, in a long-standing war between the two bars. Of course, they're going a little off the rails, so there are some very interesting - and somewhat scary - combinations popping out of the woodworks. And they want everyone passing by to try them.

Electric Eels

An odd ayakashi is causing some of the eels at the local aquarium to become literally electric, causing the eels to shock the other inhabitants in their tanks. This is causing a pretty big uproar and if it isn't fixed soon, someone could die or the aquarium might even just shut down entirely.

Frog Friend

Large frogs are popping up all over the place and following people around. They don't seem malicious in any way, but they are kind of creepy to look at, brightly colored, and leave trails of slippery goo wherever they stand. Oh, and they like to jump at people and knock them over, just for fun.

Gaseous Grandpas

A local home for older men is having a problem with a number of their inhabitants where they literally cannot stop farting and belching. It turns out this is the work of an ayakashi that just thinks farts and burps are funny and knows it's easier to get those sorts of things out of old people. Help the poor old guys out, would you?

Horrifying Hentai

Many known otaku in the area are dealing with a rather terrifying problem - every hentai they watch lately comes into reality very suddenly. Sometimes this means cute, begging girls, sure, but it also means tentacles and aliens and a whole rash of other things too. You'll have to stop the ayakashi that is bringing these 'fantasies' to life in order to save these guys.

[the voice is so known to her that she responds instantly] Let's work together, Mukuro-sama.

[There's a quiet, pleased eagerness to her tone, and she smiles lightly when she turns to look at him. There's instantly an uneasy feeling in her gut thought that has her frowning, puzzled, and it comes to a head when he casts the boundary line.

Oh.

She feels a little cold and strange, realizing that their roles have been suddenly reversed in a way and she's not sure how to handle that.] Ah... A shinki...?

[Mukuro-sama. That was an interesting thought, but Mukuro would let it go for a moment, more focused on keeping the barrier up as he searched for the source of the tentacles.

The change in her demeanor doesn't go unnoticed when she saw him cast a boundary line, and he shot her a quick glance, an eyebrow raised.]

Not to your liking?

[Then, as a tentacle broke violently through the barrier, he dodged to the side, cursing inwardly. He still wasn't used to using his will to power something, and perhaps it showed.]

We can talk after we take care of this.

No, it's fine. [It's not, but she doesn't want to drag this out unnecessarily. There were things to be done, after all, and getting sad over this development would help neither of them.]

Let's go, then. [She leaps into the battle, keenly aware of Mukuro's movements and able to match and mirror him as needed. The tentacles aren't the ayakashi itself-- she has no idea where that is--and they die fairly easily. Chrome considers for a few seconds before she uses her illusions to set a couple of the tentacles on fire, letting the fire consume to the main body without torching the rest of the place.

Despite the situation, it's nice to know her synchronization with Mukuro hasn't diminished, that she's still able to keep up with him. Perhaps she still doesn't consider herself completely equal to him, but she thinks, in time, she may be able to get there.]

[While Mukuro had figured that the girl beside him was talented, and that he was the same, their synergy still surprised him. Where he defended, she attacked, and where he moved to strike, she covered for him. Had they done this before? It wouldn't surprise him, considering her greeting, and he was curious to know just how much she knew about him and their history. Their similar appearance, right down to their hairstyles, hadn't escaped him either. Were they related, perhaps?

Though he wasn't near tiring, he was getting impatient with their lack of progress.]

Have you seen it's source?

[It's unfortunate that talking about their past together, beyond 'yes we know each other,' would cause him to corrupt into an ayakashi himself. Chrome already feels the burst of anxiety and unease at the very idea of mentioning things.

Chrome isn't very winded herself, but it's still irritatingly tedious.]

I believe it's it's in the basement. I've been working my way down. [It'd make sense for it to be there, at least, since it's not been in any of the upper levels she's explored. Chrome hesitates a moment]

Shall we... team up?

[It's certainly impressive that she can make note of the structure of this place and pinpoint the source's location while battling these tentacles with such ease. Mukuro shifted his focus to working downwards then, shifting his boundary placements to help facilitate them to move down towards the staircase.

The tentative question only made Mukuro shot her an amused look, one eyebrow raised.]

Is this too much for someone of your caliber?

[Because what was answering a question straight forwardedly and without being kind of condescending about it.]
