Black Parade
IC: All day May 26
OOC: December 16

May 26 marks the last day of the Hanazono Shrine Festival in Shinjuku. The day-long parade took pace on the 25th, to much acclaim, and now everyone is wrapping up the festival by visiting food stalls and the shrine itself. It seems like an excellent ending to a wonderful festival and even residents of the Far Shore might find themselves enjoying it without any prompting from the Heavens at all.

That's when things go from good to bad. At around noon, traffic will suddenly find itself stopped for what looks like another parade, which is strange because the parade was yesterday. However, the Near Shore residents don't seem too angered by it and instead settle in to watch the parade. It seems like a perfectly normal parade at first, made up of the same floats that were displayed the previous day, but any close observers will quickly note that something is wrong with it.

And then it goes from bad to worse. This is no ordinary parade - it's a parade of the dead. Dead souls have taken over lifeless bodies on a steady march down the street. And when they reach the final point of the route, all chaos breaks loose, prompting the Heavens to step in to intervene and send out all the gods and shinki they have to stop the sudden unexplained slaughter.

To participate in the event, you will just need to comment to the event/intro log after it goes up on December 16 at 7PM EST.

If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this post.

So if we have a god who is a god of death/dying/the afterlife, do they get any extra umph for this event? Like are they more effective, can they handle the situation without needing to rend them (if they need rending), etc?

Quick question: can the souls possessing the bodies still be under the effect of magical hypnosis (i.e: singing so the people are "ordered" to fall asleep, or order the souls to release their hostages), or are they immune to it?
dioception: (but you know he's mean)

How long will they stick around if someone tries to round them up and keep them? Idk how successful I'll even have Dio be, but he's gotta try.
mylanceisbiggerthanyours: (Well that didn't work)

Question for you guys. Are Blessed/Holy weapons (more) effective at defeating them? Nephenee's Wishblade has a blessing on it (ironically said blessing also lets her harm spirits...Neph don't kill the ghosties).

I'm sorry but I have to ask.... will getting them in the head be an effective method of dealing with them?

Are the lifeless bodies obviously lifeless (like, rotting)? And will it be obvious to Far Shore residents that the souls in those bodies are 'dead' as well?

Relatedly, what constitutes a 'dead' soul? Is it an ayakashi? A human soul that's been corrupted somehow?

Hi mods. Got a couple of questions on the event, so please bear with me.

1. How can the gods/shinki stop the bodies? Do they have to destroy the corpses? Or is it simply a matter of exorcising the soul from the body?
2. What happens to the soul once it is exorcised/once the body it inhabits is destroyed? Will the soul attempt to find a new corpse to possess?
3. If the gods/shinki have to force the soul outside the corpse, how can this be done? Is it necessarily through destroying the body, or is there some prayer/spell that can be used instead?
4. With regards to the above question, can a borderline be used to "cut" whatever the soul is using to stick inside the bodies?

Thanks mods.

Tagging onto this question-- are the souls that leave the bodies human, or are they generic spirits (or something else)?

So, given that there's precedence for things taking over lifeless bodies, including Trance's avatar body (not that she'd ever know/remember,)

is it possible for the same thing to happen here?

Oh, no no. More the reverse.

The part of Trance that walks and interacts on the Far and Near shore is a lifeless puppet/construct that she essentially created and took over. The episode I linked showed that a creature that infects and takes over lifeless bodies was also able to take control of Trance's body almost right away.

Question! Since the even is now posted, can a dead soul be someone who died in a previous game with a CRAU character that died while the character was in the game with them?

When it comes to the "Souls, Souls and more Souls" prompt, does it count of the characters died in an alternate timeline? PMMM's a little odd when it comes to who's dead and who's not.

Here's a question: will the bodies be easy to set on fire by someone who is really wants to burn them?
connivingbird: (ahahahaaaaaa)

[personal profile] connivingbird 2016-12-17 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Awesome! Second question though: will the souls have any kind of desire that a person who senses greed would pick up on?

Another question: Can mind-affecting powers be used on the souls while they're inhabiting the bodies? Hijikata's got "make someone want to do things more or less than they do (without changing what they want, exactly)" as his god power -- would that have an effect on them at all, or would it fail to react like it would if he used it on something that doesn't have any sort of will?
