Hey folks, Fru here and I'm very excited to present to you a major addition that will be coming to the Prayers page next week: MISSIONS! Below is the draft version and this is meant to be a Q&A opportunity before everything goes live.



What are Missions?

The Short Version

They're special kinds of prayers. It's a long haul to God of Fortune and Hafuri, so this is our version of a Level system. These will include very significant Pre-Requisite Follower/EXP levels, but the higher the pre-reqs, the better the rewards!

Speaking of rewards, these are also a new way to allow players interested in plot to pursue it! This keeps things separate from the big event logs too, which will continue to be used as opportunities to get characters interested in metaplot, but not full-blown reveals. This also allows players who don't want involved in metaplot to continue playing Slice of Life for the most part. Hopefully a win/win no matter your play preferences!

So You Want To Get Involved

Great! Take a look at the draft I've put together and see if anything appeals to you! Specifically, we've tried to include a variety of plot-relevant rewards that players have been interested in in the past, from dedicated NPC interactions to plot hints to items and even a bonus soulless shinki!

But maybe the rewards or the requested tasks aren't what you had in mind for your character(s). Fear not! There are NPC jumpstarters specifically designed to help you customize a new one tailored for your character(s)! Even without talking to the NPCs, if you have ideas for missions that aren't touched on in the draft, you can always hit up the Prayer Suggestions post!

In general, the sources of these missions going forward will include references to the previous event. For example, the Black Parade generated a lot of questions. A similar event log will not give out answers to those questions immediately. However! While writing up the next round of Prayer Updates (the following OOC month), we will be looking at what characters had continued interest in (example: morgue exploration from the Black Parade event) and giving follow-ups to those topics.

Pre-Reqs and Results

This goes for both Prayers and Missions: only one participating character must fulfill the pre-requisite requirements. This means that a god with few followers paired with an experienced shinki, or vice versa a newer shinki paired with an older god, can still take on these Missions.

Additionally, some of these threads may sound open-ended in their results. That's because when you respond with your thread linked, we will be reading it and then responding with what you find! For NPC interactions (ayakashi or gods), we will expect a link earlier so that the thread can be handed off. The Missions where this is expected can be specially annotated, but at bare minimum the Mission Accepted response will prompt for when we need the thread response comment.

Down To Business & How To Save A Life

This month is going to be the first instance of a Double Event here at The Far Shore! What this means is that two separate logs will be going up at the same time. Characters can choose which event they want to participate in, or even show up for both! This is a special event to celebrate The Far Shore's first birthday, but depending on how it's received, similar kinds of event might become more frequent.

That being said, here is what to look forward to for the event:

Down To Business will be a special training session set up in the Far Shore. Gods and shinki alike are invited to come and train with each other. The catch is that gods can only train with gods and shinki can only train with shinki. And if you don't have someone specific in mind to train with, that's alright! Amaterasu's shinki, who will be attending the event, are more than happy to pair you up with someone random at minimal to no effort for themselves.

On the other hand, How To Save A Life will be taking place on the Near Shore where a rash of suicides have suddenly started taking place. Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to investigate these suicides and bring any information you find about them back to Suijin, who is in charge of this operation.

So the choice is yours! Both options will be available to all characters to choose from, including new gods and shinki who have just shown up.

To participate in the event, you will just need to comment to the event/intro log after it goes up on February 16 at 7PM EST.
