Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Old Officials
There's a business that is desperately wishing the older members of their workforce would bow out. They've been sitting on death's door for so long and are doing little to help the company. The younger managers only want to step up and take their place! Help convince these ancient businessmen to step down.
A celebration for peanuts is sweeping through the city. Peanut butter, peanut cookies, even just plain peanuts are being sold, thrown, and praised all over. It's your job to help spread the peanut love, either by helping to make the tasty treats or by buying more peanuts from the next town over.
Oddly enough, a request has come in from a quail, of all creatures. It thinks very highly of itself and knows that it's super mega important, but it has such a hard time being anything but quiet. Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to draw attention to this quail - make it stand out like not other quail has done before.
A rowdy motorcycle gang has been plaguing the streets for a few weeks. Every night, at midnight, they make their engines roar out in unison, waking everybody in town. The riders themselves are good guys, they just have this one nasty habit that they refuse to give up because it pays tribute to their patron god. Do you have the heart to get them to quiet down?
The newest tourist stop is a large casino. It's said that everyone who enters the casino has their luck stolen from them at the door. That might just be silly superstitions and bad gamblers talking, but there is definitely an ayakashi there who seems to feed on people's luck. Maybe that's what's causing everyone to lose so much.

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!

It might not hurt to poke around and see if they have anything similar. [ Discretely of course. ] Still, I think we'll have more luck with a from scratch solution.
Especially since it seems like none of them know why we're getting dragged here.

[ Yoruichi's still not convinced that none of the old guard have any idea about what's bringing them all here. But she's also pretty sure finding out for certain will take some time. ]
Whose place did they say you were taking? [Yoruichi still doesn't consider herself Oya, no matter what they tell her. But some people jump into this god thing wholeheartedly.]

[ Finishing up with the gears, Kisuke stands and flips the wrench around in his hand. ]
But check this out. [ On the third revolution of the wrench through the air, it turns into a hammer. On the fifth turn, it reverts back to a wrench. ] I could get used to this.
[ Yeah, he now has the ability to manipulate matter. What could possibly go wrong? ]

Yoruichi shakes her head when he demonstrates his new power, already imagining the shit he's going to get himself (and everyone else) into. But a small frown creases her brow when she thinks of her own.]
I'd show you mine, but it's not safe. [Not only does she not have full control over it, but between the machinery up here and the people in the street below, unleashing actual chaos strikes her as a bad idea.]

[ Kisuke looks slightly amused. Then a bit concerned when she says 'not safe'. However, this is Yoruichi and while her power might not be safe, he has no doubts that she's careful with it. Trust secure, he cannot help saying with a slight leer... ]
But you'll show me later?
no subject
At his question, she smirks, then gives him a mock-thoughtful look.]
I don't know. My predecessor was strict about her offerings, and you have been neglecting me lately.
no subject
[ So yes, a stupid hat of sorts. ]
I don't suppose the fact that in... [ Kisuke glances at the clock hanging over festivities. ]... three minutes I'm going to shower this entire place in edible goodness will count? Or am I going to have to get creative?
How does that work, anyway - gods offering to other gods? Wouldn't that technically be some weird kind of fraternization?

[You know her highness better than that]
And yes, I know how upset you get about breaking any rules.
[She combs her fingers through her hair, voice utterly dry.]

But - [ He slings both arms around her shoulders and nudges her gently to turn where she'll have the best view once the show starts. ] - even if you won't accept my oh so humble display, I think you'll enjoy the sight.
[ And on time the fireworks begin in a stream of multicolored sparkles from all directions set to music. Intermittently, tiny canons shoot scores of peanuts gently through the air until gravity takes over. For a moment or two the clatter of the shells against the pavement sounds like a hard rain. ]

It's fine, I guess.
[She squeezes his forearm, the top of her head brushing his chin as she leans back against his chest. The fireworks are a nice touch; they remind her of happier times back in Seireitei, when a grubby little princess and her best friend could be held rapt by the fireworks during festivals and celebrations.]

[ But the words are affectionate and come with a light squeeze. As far as he concerned, she's still the grubby little princess who tore through the woods with him on some great adventure. Just like he's still that kid who was more stumble than grace and often the cause of her being 'grubby'.
They play 'games' that are far more serious now, but it's the moments like these that he's content. ]
I know you like it.
[ Resting his chin lightly on her head he watches the show, glad that it's going well. The rest they'll need to do here probably won't be so easy. ]
