TEST DRIVE # 09

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Old Officials

There's a business that is desperately wishing the older members of their workforce would bow out. They've been sitting on death's door for so long and are doing little to help the company. The younger managers only want to step up and take their place! Help convince these ancient businessmen to step down.

Peanut Party

A celebration for peanuts is sweeping through the city. Peanut butter, peanut cookies, even just plain peanuts are being sold, thrown, and praised all over. It's your job to help spread the peanut love, either by helping to make the tasty treats or by buying more peanuts from the next town over.

Quiet Quail

Oddly enough, a request has come in from a quail, of all creatures. It thinks very highly of itself and knows that it's super mega important, but it has such a hard time being anything but quiet. Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to draw attention to this quail - make it stand out like not other quail has done before.

Roaring Riders

A rowdy motorcycle gang has been plaguing the streets for a few weeks. Every night, at midnight, they make their engines roar out in unison, waking everybody in town. The riders themselves are good guys, they just have this one nasty habit that they refuse to give up because it pays tribute to their patron god. Do you have the heart to get them to quiet down?

Slick Sevens

The newest tourist stop is a large casino. It's said that everyone who enters the casino has their luck stolen from them at the door. That might just be silly superstitions and bad gamblers talking, but there is definitely an ayakashi there who seems to feed on people's luck. Maybe that's what's causing everyone to lose so much.

[ As you wish. Naruto feels assured as his arm follows through, and his amazing, talented shinki is able to slice through the waves of sound--and there is nothing but silence, even as the engines attempt to roar. ]

[ He can see it somehow, Ichiru's sharp edge cutting through the air, and ripples of light as each strand of sound is severed. It's incredible. He could never do something to amazing; in fact, he would make a terrible shinki, he knew it, though he was unsure at times of his ability to be a god. ]

[ As you wish. But with Ichiru in his hands, it... ]

[ Felt right. ]

[ The noiselessness spooked the gang members. There were screams, and they roared their engines--or tried to. Nothing came from them, and there was frantic panicking as they pushed against them, wondering if thy would even move, shouts when the machine would lurch forward with no noise. Naruto spun in the air, touching down with grace he didn't look capable of. The bikers looked towards him--and in the night, he was quite the fiery god, all golden hair and bright eyes and a powerful stance. ]

Oiiiii. [ He rolled out, and he pointed Ichiru towards them, displaying the sharp point of the katana. ] The gods have heard enough, all right? We hear you loud and clear!

If you wanna pay your respect--pay it by giving us some god damn peace and quiet!

[ Ichiru is quite confident in his own abilities. He's quite aware that if he wanted to he could prove to everyone he's plenty capable. This is one of those occasions where he will definitely do what just that.

The Shinki chuckles some at the fearful gazes that were given to the God. It served them right to not acknowledge their wrong doings before hand. In any case he did what he needed to do and the silence was more than a bit welcoming to Ichiru. ]

Is that how you intend to solve this issue?

[ That's funny. He only chuckles a bit more to that. ]

I suppose it's like you to behave brashly.

[ The motorcyclists began apologizing, some wide-eyed, others taking off on their bikes as fast as they could and out of sight. Naruto's blue eyes watched them, a frown on his face, and after a bit, they all took off, leaving the street quiet. ]

[ Naruto lowered the katana. He turned it, talking directly to the weapon. ]

Like I could behave any other way'ttebayo! [ And he grinned. ] And as for you...

Good job. [ He would always praise him, even with the little things, but it was obvious that pride was radiating from the older man. That was Ichiru... his shinki! And he flicked his wrist. ]

Return to me, Ichiru!

[ At least he scared them enough so they thought twice before pissing off the God again. That took care of that. A rash and brash move on Naruto's part but it got things done rather peacefully, given how destructive the God can be. ]

Indeed. Somehow that worked in both of our favors.

[ He replies before changing back at the command. ]

You're getting better at wielding me. How surprising.

A katana isn't really my weapon... but I'll get used to you eventually! I know the form well enough. [ He just... well, other people were better with it. Like Sasuke, for example. ]

I knew you could do it! You're the sharpest blade in all the world! [ Instead of ruffling Ichiru's hair, he gave him a pat on the shoulder, gently squeezing it in congratulations. ]

You hungry? I could really go for some ramen right now!

So you’ve proved with your execution. I suppose you aren’t all smoke and mirrors.

[ He shrugged a little as the other said those words. If one didn’t know how to do something, then they should try in their own way to learn. ]

Now you’re only trying to earn points because I’m partially dangerous.

[ He replied crossing his arms as he gives Naruto a raised brow. Of course, the ruffling of his hair was not expected so he was caught off guard. He moves away after getting over his initial surprise. He really should be more guarded with this guy. ]

Only if you’re paying.

[ He said flatly. ]

Do you not get sick of eating the same thing every time?
