TEST DRIVE # 09

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Old Officials

There's a business that is desperately wishing the older members of their workforce would bow out. They've been sitting on death's door for so long and are doing little to help the company. The younger managers only want to step up and take their place! Help convince these ancient businessmen to step down.

Peanut Party

A celebration for peanuts is sweeping through the city. Peanut butter, peanut cookies, even just plain peanuts are being sold, thrown, and praised all over. It's your job to help spread the peanut love, either by helping to make the tasty treats or by buying more peanuts from the next town over.

Quiet Quail

Oddly enough, a request has come in from a quail, of all creatures. It thinks very highly of itself and knows that it's super mega important, but it has such a hard time being anything but quiet. Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to draw attention to this quail - make it stand out like not other quail has done before.

Roaring Riders

A rowdy motorcycle gang has been plaguing the streets for a few weeks. Every night, at midnight, they make their engines roar out in unison, waking everybody in town. The riders themselves are good guys, they just have this one nasty habit that they refuse to give up because it pays tribute to their patron god. Do you have the heart to get them to quiet down?

Slick Sevens

The newest tourist stop is a large casino. It's said that everyone who enters the casino has their luck stolen from them at the door. That might just be silly superstitions and bad gamblers talking, but there is definitely an ayakashi there who seems to feed on people's luck. Maybe that's what's causing everyone to lose so much.

Hmm, a group of people back home were particularly persistent in getting rid of a particularly old man.

[Muzét floats about Ichiru, observing him a bit. It's true - the rowdy gang she had back at home was quite dead set on overthrowing Maxwell. But that was in the past. That and they weren't here.]

Getting a group of people with strong convictions seems to do the trick.

A prayer correct?

[ He turns back looking at the woman as she floats around him. He can't really say he enjoys spending time around her but she's powerful and a tolerable being, He had no qualms about serving multiple masters. He's still loyal to them as he saw fit after all. ],/small>

I suppose if those convictions can convince a few old men to step down permanently. It seems like they are adamant on that.

Oh, it convinced the one I'm thinking about. He's no longer around.

[chuckle.]

There's something to be said about plain ol' brute force, after all.

That's unfortunate that he isn't.

[ He shrugs. ]

I suppose we can take that route but you'll lose followers in that respect, Muzet-sama.

Hmm. How pesky.

[She leaned so that her body was horizontal, floating as she mused about what he said.]

You're one of those big-picture types, hmm?

Of course, I was on the losing side myself at that time.

Ichii, do you actually care if I lose followers or not? Like, on a personal level.

I'm only supplying Muzet-sama with the most accurate outcomes for your actions. Such destructive responses can only cause misfortune.

[ He crosses his arms as she she floats about. ]

I suppose you can say that. Indeed you have been but if you're going to be my God, then I would appreciate if you aren't useless.

[ He adds in an almost condescending tone. ]

If you lose followers, you lose power. I'd rather not be fighting alongside a weak God.

[While that kind of response may have gotten a rise out of a typical person, Muzét simply listens intently. His words ring true, and she's touched that he at least put some thought into his response, as caustic as it was. Given she was used for twenty years of her life as a tool, someone actually paying attention to her was a refreshing change of pace.]

Hmm, so if I scratch your back, you'll scratch mine? Is that how humans say it?

[she giggles]

Well, if you went through the hassle of choosing me as your God, then I suppose I have a duty to act in our best interests.

[ Typically that’s what he aims for given how people always seem to be offended by what he has to say. It’s not that he means to be blunt. He just is and he’s done playing the pretend game with most people. It’s too much effort to pretend like you care about the world when you really didn’t. It wasn’t as if he’s truly paying attention to her. She’s a strong God and that means he’d be a weapon to a strong God that can keep him from harm. He could use her as he pleased. At least that’s how he sees it. However, Ichiru’s a bit of a disturbing individual whose loyalty knows no bounds. ]

I see I don’t have to explain myself any further, Muzet-sama.

[ He chuckles when she giggles. ]

Indeed. I’d hate to have to move on and leave you alone if you choose to be useless. Now, shall we?

I'd have to say the same goes for you. A goddess has no use for a tool that has no purpose, hmm?

[She smiles. Not cruelly, but happily, as if she just gave him a compliment.]

In any case, what other options are available to us to make these fogies retire, if not by force?

Do not be concerned. I am more than suitable to be your weapon.

[ He replies giving her a cold smile at the comment. He's here to prove himself and she better be prepared. ]

Give them another purpose-- with other means such as coercion or persuasion.
