TEST DRIVE # 08

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Junky Jokes

There is a small spirit girl who is determined to hear some funny jokes before she passes on to the next life. Your job is to come up with some horribly bad, wonderfully funny jokes to make her laugh. Be warned, though, she's got a very serious face that's hard to crack.

Knights Knives

The swords of the knights at a local museum's exhibit have gone missing. They are praying for them to be returned because these swords are worth so much and such a great part of history. Hopefully you'll be able to find them, because otherwise those prayers are going to someone else.

Ludicrous Lightning

There's been a streak of heat lightning going on. It's so intense that sometimes the lightning will light up the night sky as if it were day and there have been numerous power outages in the area. Go help out the people who are without power and make sure that everyone can still live as normally as possible!

More Money

Who doesn't need more money? A little convenience store needs help since all of their employees have fallen ill at the same time. They're offering double wages to anyone who will work for them. Unfortunately, the store is a hot spot for misfortune and ghouls of various kinds. Have fun!

Neon Nourishment

Surprise! A very American man is shoving neon bright candy and cakes at everyone who will stop for even a moment, and he easily notices all Far Shore residents as well. Which means every time you pass him, you'll be getting more and more of this hideously colored food. Enjoy~

Oh? ( No famous turtles? What if there aren't any famous turtles here either! It makes him a little nervous but he still can't give up so he inhales and says as proudly as he can, ) A shellebrity!

[...Zeno's eyes pop, then... slowly... a few giggles bubble out.

And then it dissolves into actual knee-slapping hysterics.]

Kid, Zeno'll have to remember that one.

[It's all in the delivery, and Zeno rather thinks you nailed it!!

...although he may have just heard it before and is surprised, now that he's heard it again and it jogged his memory WHO KNOWS he's laughing now. Let the little miss laugh along!]

That reminds Zeno... why don't lobsters give to charity??

( Ah! He's laughing. Was it good? It was good! Way to boost Urashima confidence, Zeno and he breaks into a wide, bright grin of sorts and listens, )

Because... they're greedy? ( Or, no, that doesn't sound very funny. ) Wait, wait, because they're selfish?

( A second after he says it you can see the light bulb go off behind his eyes. He claps his hands together once and jumps, excited, )

Because they're shellfish! That's why, right?!

( Even if he's wrong, he's going to laugh because he's having fun right now! Ah, come one, little girl, can't you feel the good energy from these two sunny losers... )

You got it!

[Oh yellow scaly god you are adorable. Prepare to be hugged.

The girl does seem to be looking back and forth between them, and Zeno is rather desperate to hold onto the momentum.]

Hey, hey, why does it hurt to eat clams?

( Does Urashima have to grab ghost girl's hands because he will!!! He is! He's doing it! He's going to do the thing! Gotta share this really fun moment with everyone in it. She looks really surprised but Urashima's oblivious to how sudden that probably was! Hugs and hand holding for everyone in the bar. )

Because--! ( Nothing. He's got nothing. ) Ah... ( Uhm... Help a boy out, girl? No? No! Fine! That's okay. ) They're still in the shell...?

( This is a tough one. He's stumped. )

It's cause you pull a mussel!

[Out... of the shell... Not that it would hurt him to do so, but hey.

And with Urashima to lead the way, Zeno hugs the little ghost too. You don't always laugh at funny things, after all, sometimes you just laugh when you're happy and there's no other place for those feelings to go.

It's good, too, when people come together to do things for each other like this. This is why King Hiryuu loved humans.]

Close, though, close! Zeno's gonna be outsmarted by you both, pretty soon.

( Urashima is definitely one of those people who laughs when he's happy. Some of these jokes are really going over his head? Didn't you see him try to answer the ones earlier! He isn't sure if they're actually funny or not but he's having fun all the same and hopefully his new friend (he's already decided she's his friend) will too! )

No way, you're really good! ( He's being genuine! It's a genuine compliment! ) What do you call a girl with a frog on her head?

( Is she listening? She looks... interested even as she tries to wiggle free from the two of them. )

Lily!

( And that sure is a crooked little smile forming on her lips. )

Your turn, your turn! I think it'll be your best joke!

( He's setting Zeno up. Getting ghost girl all interested and hopeful. )

[NO PRESSURE RIGHT-- he leans a little on Urashima, as if he were telling him a secret... but of course, he draws the girl in, too.]

Whaddya call a fish without any eyes?

[And just to sell it better, he struggles not to giggle--]
