TEST DRIVE # 08

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Junky Jokes

There is a small spirit girl who is determined to hear some funny jokes before she passes on to the next life. Your job is to come up with some horribly bad, wonderfully funny jokes to make her laugh. Be warned, though, she's got a very serious face that's hard to crack.

Knights Knives

The swords of the knights at a local museum's exhibit have gone missing. They are praying for them to be returned because these swords are worth so much and such a great part of history. Hopefully you'll be able to find them, because otherwise those prayers are going to someone else.

Ludicrous Lightning

There's been a streak of heat lightning going on. It's so intense that sometimes the lightning will light up the night sky as if it were day and there have been numerous power outages in the area. Go help out the people who are without power and make sure that everyone can still live as normally as possible!

More Money

Who doesn't need more money? A little convenience store needs help since all of their employees have fallen ill at the same time. They're offering double wages to anyone who will work for them. Unfortunately, the store is a hot spot for misfortune and ghouls of various kinds. Have fun!

Neon Nourishment

Surprise! A very American man is shoving neon bright candy and cakes at everyone who will stop for even a moment, and he easily notices all Far Shore residents as well. Which means every time you pass him, you'll be getting more and more of this hideously colored food. Enjoy~

Oh. You meant Tot should know someone. But they aren't Schreient, or Papa or...

[Right, she can't say that one. Not that she really knew him like she did her family, but she knew enough. She knew Nagi liked her, that he was special, and that she liked him as well. That's all she needed.

Except he doesn't know her at all.]

It's not the same thing.

[ Sometimes, he's not sure if it's better or worse to have your memories. Most gods he's met seem to miss their past lives. Nagi thinks it wouldn't make a difference to him one way or the other. ]

...I wouldn't know, [ he says rather honestly. ]

[You don't know what you've got until it's gone. Or in the case of shinki, until you get it back.]

You don't remember your family and friends from before. [That is really, really sad. She has an idea, though. One the others would be proud of her for!] But you can make new ones, right?

I guess...?

[ Not that Nagi is very good at making new friends. Mainly because he doesn't put in the effort. People around him seem friendly enough. He doesn't dislike them, which is something? ]

My name is Nagi.

[ He's not sure why he says it. It's not like he's ever introduced himself first to anyone before. But it seems fair, since he already knows her name. ]

[They just have to start over, and it'll all be the way it's supposed to again.]

Nagi. It's nice to meet you.

[There's a giggle as she says it since she's just so pleased with how things have turned around. She can do this. Even if it is just her - and whoever her shinki is.]

[ He nods briefly, feeling almost chagrined that he can't seem to say nice to meet you too. Even though maybe for the first time ever, he thinks he could actually mean it if he did bring himself to say it.

It's just something about her that's almost comfortable in a way that he's never really felt around anyone here, yet. He can't imagine why. ]

How long have you been here?

[She doesn't mind. As long as he doesn't send her away, she'll figure something out eventually. For now, it's just nice talking to someone she knows.]

It's only been a few days, so Tot and Rabbi-chan were exploring.

[ Given how little the people in charge here tell you, he wouldn't be surprised if she's completely lost. Things have been kind of weird in the Far Shore lately, what with the school incident and the Sunsano'o thing. A lot of gods and shinki have died. ]

They're still doing a lot of clean-up over there. [ He means the Far Shore, though if she's been around the main hall at all, she would know what he means. There was a lot of destruction and mayhem (and dead bodies) to clean up. ]

Was there a party?

[She would have liked that - even a destructive and bloody one.]

[ He snorts, but is weirdly amused. ]

More like a massacre. Someone released a bunch of dragon ayakashi. And some other stuff.

[ He heard that the other thing was actually the most dangerous. Someone subdued it before it killed everything in Takamagahara. Maybe the heavens aren't so useless after all. Though he thinks that maybe if they were any halfway competent, the mess could've been avoided altogether. ]

[He doesn't sound upset about it which is probably a good thing as her eyes sparkle at the thought of dragons.]

That sounds like fun! Tot doesn't like monsters, but I've never seen a dragon before.

[Yes, she was kind of paying attention before and knows the ayakashi are bad...but dragons!]

I didn't see them either.

[ Nagi had been in the Near Shore when things went down. By the time he'd returned, most of the ayakashi had been destroyed. Along with much of the Far Shore. The area around the Main Hall in particular had been quite the blood bath. And as per usual, Amaterasu had no clue what had happened. Or pretended to not know. Nagi doesn't really understand the concept of chaos for the sake of it. No, there has to be some kind of design, a purpose. A controlled chaos.

Maybe one of these days, he'll get to the bottom of it.

He nods toward the park and starts walking. Sometimes ayakashi like to gather there. ]
