TEST DRIVE # 06

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Zombie Zoo

A local zoo is having a very serious problem. Specifically, a large number of its dead animals have suddenly come back to life! These animals have all died sometime in the past, over several decades, but now they're crawling out of their grave sites to join the other other animals in the zoo. It's not that they're causing any trouble, they act exactly as they did in life. It's just... really creepy, honestly.

Arctic Arcade

A popular arcade is under siege by restless spirits. No matter how warm the owners try to keep the gaming areas, it's like an arctic tundra inside. The cold is starting to mess with the gaming systems and very few patrons are willing to deal with subzero temperatures just to play some dumb video games. It's quite likely there's an ayakashi plaguing the store, but it's a matter of finding out where exactly it's hiding.

Baby Boxes

Japan is taking some initiative to adopt a new system for the young people being born into their country! Much like Finland, they are starting a tradition where each new baby has a box of essentials gifted to their parents, which can also serve as a crib while the baby is still small enough to fit inside. You've been enlisted to help put these boxes together! Have fun with all the baby food and diapers.

Calling Card

Every god needs to be promoted, how else will they get followers, right? So that's your job! Go promote your god or, if you're a god, promote yourself! Whether your calling card is literally a card with your phone number or some graffiti sprayed onto every bus in Tokyo, it's all fair game. Just make sure it's going to bring in the customers.

Desperate Doggy

An odd spirit has started following you around. It's the spirit of a dog, who is very intent on getting back to its master. Apparently its master really needs the dog in order to keep living a happy life, that's what you've gathered from all the barking and shoving at least. Whether you decide to help the dog find its master or help it reach the next world is up to you.

[Ohhh, look at that spirit. Even when poor Keith is blown out of the black room in that icy blast, Jae-Ha is still excited at the potential of a worthy fighter. He doesn't wait for an invitation to help, soaring in right after Keith is knocked back and striking the ayakashi with his right leg.

As it recovers, he glances back over his shoulder at the stranger.]

That fire just now, was it your ability? [Tell him more, in the middle of this battle.]

[It sucks when you don't have your foil dragging you back by the scruff to keep you from doing something stupid. Not that he remembers any of that.]

[He drags himself back up to his feet and affixes this newcomer with a glare. It's only for a moment though and He's rushing back in after the ayakashi with his sword raised again.]

Who are you? This is my fight!

[Sorry, Jae-Ha, he's one of those kinds of people. At least he has better luck this time, landing a hit.]

[Not to worry! He does enjoy these types. Or at least, he gets the feeling that he does, somehow. It's entertaining to watch such a spirited young man go at it strongly like this. And he'd very much like to see more fire.

Jae-Ha stubbornly refuses to give up and leave. Instead, he chucks some throwing knives in alignment with Keith's own fighting.]

But it's more beautiful with both of us fighting together, wouldn't you say? [Also: it would include a lot less falling on either of their asses.] My name is Jae-Ha. And you?

[Damn you being smooth and good at this, he does kind of need your help even if he hates the idea. That's probably why he's stopped yelling at you for now.]

[But he then, rather than igniting all of him, he ignites his sword and swings. The Ayakashi doesn't like that much and seems to be shrinking back with their efforts.]

Whatever! [He's being poetic now, why. The name though, that makes him hesitate for just a moment. His name was all he had, after all.]

I'll tell you when this thing is gone.

I'll hold you to that.

[Oh, boy, a promised name. He'll take that for now. He may not have any fire to boost his attacks, but as he moves in to join his strikes with kicks of his own, it seems strength and speed alone are his form of combat. He only kicks with his right leg.

At this rate, the Ayakashi won't stand a chance!]

[Nah, between them the thing probably withers away and leaves the place nice and cold, but a normal kind of cold you might expect a place to be covered in ice to be, rather than the oppressing constant blizzard it was a second ago.]

[Keith's sword fizzles out and he takes a deep breath. There's a very slight smile on his face.]

That's better.

We don't make such a bad team, do we?

[Hmm, but he won't advertise his own god to just anyone, so he supposes he can't be too friendly. He admires his skill, but he doesn't know his name yet! Speaking of...

He's still very cold after everything, but he's more focused on facing Keith directly.]
