TEST DRIVE # 05

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Ugly Underthings

Someone or something has been stealing underwear from various women and men. The weirdest thing about it, though, is the fact that every piece of underwear stolen and strewn about the town is absolutely hideous to look at. Maybe it's just someone with a fetish for ugly underpants? Or maybe it's something else entirely.

Validated Villain

There's talk about some masked ayakashi wandering around, led by a young girl wearing a paper crown and covered in tattoos. In fact, if you look for her hard enough, you might just come across the nora, singing to herself as she plays with the masked wolves. Otherwise, you might just encounter the wolves. It's hard to tell which is worse.

Weeaboo Weirdos

A much larger amount of American tourists are crashing down on Japan now that the summer is near, and a significant number of them are what the people back in their home country would term a 'weeaboo' - 13- to 17-year-olds who are desperate to blend in with Japanese culture and fail miserably at their attempts. You can either make fun of them or help them out, your choice.

Xeroxing Xenophobes

Of course, that means that there are a large number of Japanese locals who are very put off and angry about these Americans. A fact that is becoming all the more prevalent because there is an ayakashi cloning itself and attaching to only Japanese people, turning them against the foreigners and causing a massive amount of hate, which is leading to a lot of shoving, nasty words, and a couple of impromptu, awful haircuts...

Yummy Yakitori

With so much going on, isn't it just nice to sit back, relax, and eat some delicious yakitori? This yakitori might possibly be the best you have ever eaten in your entire life! And that's not at all because it was made by a couple of Far Shore residents who have charmed it with varying results, definitely not. Hopefully the charm doesn't backfire and make you hate all other food!

[Maybe it's a good thing his vessel form is an actual weapon. She wouldn't be able to see the slight smile he would have at that moment. He really does believe in her, and knows that she will be a great goddess. They just need more practice.

Especially since he can tell she's not used to this. Used to fighting. If he could help it and not have to turn into her weapon, he'd find some other way to get rid of them without exposing her.]

See? You're getting better. [The blade vibrates in her hand once the last ayakashi is done away with.] I know this wasn't easy, but you're improving.

[ She's suddenly thankful that he is a weapon right now, because she's blushing lightly. ]

It's because I've had so much help.

[That's what you think, Namine. Despite his appearance, he can still sort of see and know what's going on around them. But of course, he's not going to comment on that blush.]

It's nothing. The least I could do...

[Since he can't get rid of them by himself, which he'd prefer if he could have it his way. Makes him feel a little useless to be honest.]

You're okay, right?

[ She'd be absolutely mortified if he did comment on it, honestly. Naminé shakes her head. ]

I couldn't have gotten rid of them without your help...

[ She might have her chains, but other than acting as restraints, she really can't do much. ]

Oh-- Would you like to change back?

I'm just a weapon, Namine. It's you who has the power to get rid of them.

[Technically, it's not just her. But aside from changing form and offering encouragement and protecting her, there's little else he feels he can do.]

Er... if you want. There could still be more of them around here.

[He doesn't like telling her what to do either.]

[ Just accept the praise, Riku!! Naminé nods, though. Giving orders is pretty weird for her, too. ]

Well... I think we're okay for now. So... Shoki.

[What is this praise you speak of. Praise and Riku don't get along.

And with another flash, he's right beside her and automatically he glances around the area just in case he missed something. So far so good.]

Something must have set them off like that. [Other than them that is. He glances down at her, to make sure she isn't hurt.] What do you think?

[ He's going to have to get used to it, gosh. Of course, she's pretty much the same way... ]

I think so, too, [ she says, looking up at him. ]

Maybe... it's those people? [ She gestures to the tourists. ]

[Them? He glances over to the very loud American tourists with a raised brow. They look harmless for the most part, talking loudly on where to go next for some last minute shopping.]

They could be quieter for sure, but I don't think so. Unless those ayakashi were targeting them.

Well... they were physically attacking them, before you came.

[ It's obviously something that doesn't sit well with her. ]

[Well, that helps with his guilt issues. She glances over to her with a slightly embarrassed and shocked expression before he looks away. Geez, if he hadn't left her alone and was here a bit earlier...]

...Sorry about that.

[ Oh, shoot. ]

Oh-- Riku, I didn't mean... [ If she could go back in time... ] I'm sorry. I didn't mean that you did anything wrong... Um, I just ran into things headfirst, so it's really my fault.
