TEST DRIVE # 34

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters!
Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Jingle Jeans
The fresh new spring fashion trend is accessorized denim. Super-accessorized! Bells, chains, beads, zippers, belts and more drip from every inch of this season's hot styles, and the stores need someone to model their new stock -- and bring in the buyers. It's your job to convince the fashion-savvy residents of Tokyo that these new jeans are exactly what their wardrobe needs, without getting your five chain belts tangled.

Kitty Kibble
A huge, panther-shaped ayakashi is haunting the streets of Asakusa, and the pigeons at the local pigeon shrine have disappeared! Take care of this feline predator so the surviving sacred birds won't end up as dinner on the wing.

Lagging Laundry
The residents of an Ikebukuro high-rise have an unusual problem: no matter how sunny the day or how long it's been hanging, their laundry just won't dry! Do they have a moist microclimate? An ayakashi of mold and despair? Or do they just need someone to get all that wet laundry to the nearest laundromat with a dryer until the weather warms up?

Melon Mania
A gardener in Ueno has planted a brand-new strain of muskmelon in his window boxes, and this plant is going wild! Vines have taken over the exterior of his apartment building, and beach-ball-sized fruit are popping up all over. He needs help bringing in the harvest… but his neighbors are begging for this plant to wind up in the compost heap so their lives can go back to normal. Whose side will you take?

Nice & Neat
A community art project is being hosted at the Tokyo Art Museum! Jigsaw-shaped pieces of wood about the size of a hand have been handed out to artists and crafters throughout Japan, and the pieces have just been shipped back. Now, they have to be assembled into one giant jigsaw puzzle for display. There's just one problem: someone forgot to number the pieces before they were shipped! Now they've got a 20,000 piece puzzle whose pieces don't match, and it has to be finished this weekend for the grand opening. Help!

[Tyzias takes a sip out of her mug as she assesses her situation. A fellow god, both of them covered near head-to-toe in denim, and everything had some item on it that made it sparkle. What's worse for her though is somehow, said bedazzling got applied to the tips of her horns. In the form of bells being tied to them.]

You too huh?

[Chris regards Tyzias's appearance with a nod, crossing her arms.]

Yeah, unfortunately.

... I gotta know. You jingle when you walk, right?

Yep.

[As some people pass by, she does her best to look at least somewhat cheerful, but her heart wasn't in it. It was a relief when they passed her by. This happened twice more before, at greater distances, before she returned back to the front of the store, jingling all the way, and taking a sip out of the coffee mug she was carrying with her. She'd need to refill it soon.]

Yikes.

[Chris does her best to look cheerful, but her smile definitely looks forced. Once they're gone, she let's out a sigh... and notices something.

She goes off for a moment, and returns with the free coffee the shop has provided for the models.]

Here. I noticed you were running low.

[Oh, if only what had been in there had actually been coffee. Tyzias doesn't comment on it though, leaning back on letting others make their own assumptions. It's saved her a lot of trouble before and now it's just habit.]

Thanks. [She takes that cup and starts to drink from it as is. Only a sip for now though, since it's quite hot.] Don't you wwwwant to go and get yourself one?

[Chris isn't that naive, it's just that they didn't have actual alcohol, and she had no business collecting it for someone at her age.]

I'm not really thirsty, and if I wanted something it'd be have to be something cool right now.

[Ha! It's not alcohol either. Nice try though.]

Yeah, I understand.

Wwwwhat are you thinking of doing after this? I wwwwas going to the nearest bookhive... library. [She was honestly only asking to make conversation in between bouts of people and advertising torture.] But if you have a different suggestion I'mmmm open to doing wwwwhatever. [It's been pretty boring week for her overall so she's down for anything new and or vaguely interesting.]

[In both Chris and her mun's defense, it's an easy assumption to make.]

Eh? ... I dunno. [That's a bit unexpected from someone she's just met.] I was thinking of going home and relaxing for a bit, I guess? You like the library or something?

[No no it's fine. That's what's supposed to happen. Tyzias says nothing, and people make their own assumptions. Coffee. Alcohol. Etc.]

I spent a lot of timmmme in there. [Both back on Alternia and also this world in both Shores. Hey, she's an alien who doesn't know much about humans even now. Research has to happen sometime.] Wwwwas studying to be a legislacerator. [She doesn't expect Chris to Really know what that means, but the first part of the word definitely alludes to the law.]

Eh... kind of. It's like, It's like this mmmmix of lawwwwyer and bounty hunter. There wwwwere other positions I could've been. Mmmmy mmmmatesprit's an auditerrorizer in training, for exammmmple. [If she could still call Stelsa her matesprit, but that was personal issues to be dealt with later.]

[Chris is about to snap at this person, but... how is she any different? Yeah, she primarily fights Noise, but humans had lost their lives because of her. And then there was Ver, and the Alchemists...]

That kind of life can't be easy, can it?

[She's going to avoid asking what a "matesprit" was.]

No. It really wwwwasn't. [For more reasons than just the job itself.] I'mmmm glad I'mmmm out. [Here she didn't have to worry about dying if she did a poor job or flat out quit.]

... Mm.

If you need to talk to someone about it, then... I'm willing. I've been through a lot myself. I know it can be valuable to have someone to confide in.

[Chris actually smirks at that.]
