TEST DRIVE # 34



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters!
Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Jingle Jeans
The fresh new spring fashion trend is accessorized denim. Super-accessorized! Bells, chains, beads, zippers, belts and more drip from every inch of this season's hot styles, and the stores need someone to model their new stock -- and bring in the buyers. It's your job to convince the fashion-savvy residents of Tokyo that these new jeans are exactly what their wardrobe needs, without getting your five chain belts tangled.


Kitty Kibble
A huge, panther-shaped ayakashi is haunting the streets of Asakusa, and the pigeons at the local pigeon shrine have disappeared! Take care of this feline predator so the surviving sacred birds won't end up as dinner on the wing.


Lagging Laundry
The residents of an Ikebukuro high-rise have an unusual problem: no matter how sunny the day or how long it's been hanging, their laundry just won't dry! Do they have a moist microclimate? An ayakashi of mold and despair? Or do they just need someone to get all that wet laundry to the nearest laundromat with a dryer until the weather warms up?


Melon Mania
A gardener in Ueno has planted a brand-new strain of muskmelon in his window boxes, and this plant is going wild! Vines have taken over the exterior of his apartment building, and beach-ball-sized fruit are popping up all over. He needs help bringing in the harvest… but his neighbors are begging for this plant to wind up in the compost heap so their lives can go back to normal. Whose side will you take?


Nice & Neat
A community art project is being hosted at the Tokyo Art Museum! Jigsaw-shaped pieces of wood about the size of a hand have been handed out to artists and crafters throughout Japan, and the pieces have just been shipped back. Now, they have to be assembled into one giant jigsaw puzzle for display. There's just one problem: someone forgot to number the pieces before they were shipped! Now they've got a 20,000 piece puzzle whose pieces don't match, and it has to be finished this weekend for the grand opening. Help!

Yeah.

[Tyzias squared her shoulders. She's as ready as she'll ever be. The armor and crossbows were new, but not unusual. Plenty of other trolls carried personal weapons around, in plain sight or hidden as something else entirely. Axes, claws, knives. Some with psionics took advantage of appearing unarmed to get the upper hand.]

After you.

[Her soulless shinki, a curved shortsword that she now held in one hand, was all she needed to get ready. Other than a plan of course, but it seems as if the two of them weren't going to be given the time to plan anything in advance.]

[Chris sizes her up. She has her doubts about this one, but she's here and she's all she's got. Time to do what she can to keep them both alive. Hopefully this thing is a lot weaker than a Noise.] Alright. I'm gonna try to flush it out. You okay with lying in wait to take it by surprise?

[Tyzias gives a nod of her head.] I ammmm. [If that's what must be done to get rid of it. She was good at being something other than what other people expect anyway. The reassuring smile she tried to give however turned out to be somewhat like a grimace.]

[trustheart]

Alright. Wait here then. [Chris dashes off, with surprising speed for someone whose armor includes heels and looks so heavy. It takes a few minutes, but she reappears soon enough... with the Ayakashi fleeing her, several of her energy bolts stuck in its back, as Chris seems to be singing.] A discount sale of lead bullets just for you, as there is no something that cures stupidity...! [Sure enough, she's flushing it towards where Tyzias is...]

[Tyzias gets ready, counting down the seconds in her head as the panther draws nearer. Five. Four. Three. She darts forward, calling up a Rend and darts under the giant panther as it passes her, cutting its neck and part of its chest.]


(ooc: and here's to hoping I didn't do horrible. Not used to combat in rp :/ )

[ooc - you're doing fine!]

[The panther lets out a cry as it's slashed, and it claws at its neck like a real predator would. Unfortunately, it raises its paw and whirls around to try and slash at Tyzias in vengeance. Chris spies this and her eyes widen.]

Watch out! [One of her bows quickly shifts to gun mode; she can't rend it without using her shinki, but maybe she can use the force to knock it away from Tyzias, if her aim is true and fast enough...]

Tyzias thinks she feels something, but whether or not it actually landed a hit can't be the priority right now. Chris's bullet hits its mark in time for that possible hit to have only been a snag on her outfit, though admittedly it was a close call. With it knocked back and righting itself, this gives her the perfect time to strike again. Leaping up this time onto its back, she aims for the back of the skull.]

[trustheart]

[The ayakashi lets out a yowl as the blade embeds in its skull, and it thrashes about violently, critically wounded. Chris breathes a sigh of relief.] Finish it off! [As she cries out, she switches to her crossbows, firing energy spikes to spear the ayakashi's feet to the floor.]
