Test Drive #28

TEST DRIVE # 28

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters!
Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Fish Face

An ayakashi has taken to attaching itself to people’s faces. Other than just making the person gloomy, it has another, more odd, side-effect. Humans who can perceive things of the Far Shore take one look at someone affected by the ayakashi and can’t stop laughing uproariously. Even gods and shinki will get at least a case of the giggles. Sure, the ayakashi makes the person look like they have a fish face, puckered lips and all, but it’s not that funny, is it? Save people from the ayakashi, in more ways than one.

God-speed, Gnome

The travelling gnome is a cute trend that many people follow, watching where their little porcelain garden friend will end up next in the world as volunteers take him along on their travels. However the gnome has stalled somewhere, and the outcry on the internet is quickly reaching a fever pitch. Is it foul play? Or did the gnome simply get lost?
Hopefully you can help him resume his journey.

Homing Hen

Mr. Motoi's landlady has asked him to sell the chicken he was keeping on the building roof. He sent the hen to his daughter in the suburbs… but two days later, she was back on the roof trying to get back into her coop. He's tried three times now to find her a new home, but she keeps coming back! Something needs to be done. Will you help the hen accept her new owner, or try to convince the landlady to have pity?

Icy Idyll

In an effort to promote the beauty and simplicity of the idyll, a poetry society is hitting the streets of Tokyo, offering free ice cream to whomever can compose a (half-decent) idyll on the spot.
What is an idyll, you ask? Simply “a short description in verse or prose of a picturesque scene or incident, especially in rustic life”.
What do you say? Want to give it a go? No one will judge you too harshly. (Except maybe that person beside you.)

Jujube joy

A new jujube specialty shop has opened, with their key item being “emotion infused” jujubes. With a “secret blend of extracts and essences from exotic, organic herbs and plants”, the company claims that anyone eating their candy will have their mood shifted and uplifted!
Red for bravery. Yellow for happiness. Blue for calmness and relaxation. Green for refreshing energy!
Try a sample (strictly one per person, do not eat two at once) and see for yourself!
The only problem is that that secret blend of herbs and plants seems to be more potent on the physiology of someone from the Far Shore. (If the company knew, they would certainly apologize for the oversight.)

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!

[There is a reason why she is Special Inquisitor..]

A simple matter, then -- [Her hands fall to her belt, where she is not carrying Brighid's whipswords, and thus cannot simple cut the coop free of its moorings with two simple strikes. Her lips part in the slightest expression of surprise before she shuts her eyes, lifting one hand to touch the bill of her cap.] ...We will need tools. How is it affixed?

[BEAUTIFUL]

Hm?

[Anduin watches her closely, who her hands drop to her belt for something that is not there when needed. He takes in the expression as she touches her hat, waiting politely before glancing back to the coop with narrowed eyes.]

It doesn't look to be too hard to remove-- see there are the bolts there, I'm certain. That looks to be all that's holding it, and it's only a single nest coop but...

[He bit his lip with thought, sliding a gloved hand over the chicken, gently petting the bird.]

It's transportation we'll really need. If we can get it down safely and set it on something, we can set her inside it and move it to a new location. A wagon or similar would do. Do you happen to know of anything like that close to here?

[Privately and very secretly grateful she has given him the chance to regain cool control over the situation, Mòrag tilts her head back, allowing a slight smile to touch her lips.]

We are of the Far Shore, are we not? Once we have the coop unmounted, we will use that to travel back to the Far Shore proper, then return to the Near at our chosen destination.

[The word 'teleport' is not too familiar to her, but she understands the practical ramifications of her divine powers quite clearly.]
thewhitepawn: (Disbelieving smile)

[He listens intently, eyes lighting with understanding.]

Ah! Yes, perfect, that will work. Here, let me go and have a look at the boltings... would you mind holding her? I would rather not have us chase a wayward chicken that decided to zip away.
specialinquisitor: (contemplative)

[personal profile] specialinquisitor 2018-05-04 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, of course.

[She holds out her hands to accept the hen. If she treats it like a wayward cat or dog, she ought to be fine -- and she has handled such things. The Special Inquisitor of Mor Ardain is not so lofty and vaunted that she cannot involve herself in common affairs, if her time permits. Indeed, doing such things helps her and her goals quite a bit; the people are far more open to her presence when they perceive that she cares and has their good in mind.]

[Gingerly Anduin hands the chicken over to her, the bird clucking curiously at the transfer but otherwise seeming calm enough. Anduin has a fair enough hand with animals to keep them calm, at the very least-- the chicken isn't in a hurry to get away, at least. With their temporary charge installed in Mòrag's arms, he dusts himself off and moves closer to the coop, circling around where it was installed.]

It doesn't look to be bolted down too much-- the weight of it alone seems to keep it in place. Good thing there aren't more chickens running away to home-- could you imagine there being more of these?
specialinquisitor: (not happy)

[personal profile] specialinquisitor 2018-05-07 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[And here she stands with a chicken in her arms.]

[She's actually glad Brighid isn't here for this. This is not an experience she'd care to have preserved in her Blade's diary for so long as the royal family could maintain those records.]

A simple amount of force might be enough to break it free, then, after which we can move it. Can you provide?

[At some point, she simply started accepting she can make absolutely no judgments from appearances here.]
thewhitepawn: (Amused)

[A very calm chicken. She was watching Anduin circling her home though, clucking softly in curiosity, giving a little wiggle in Mòrag's grip, but not really making an overt attempt at escaping.

Anduin put a shoulder to the coop, pushing against it-- and it moved from the force, however carefully applied. Hr grinned, glancing up at his companion with a nod as he attempted to try and heft it enough to get a decent grip on.
]

Yes! It's-- okay, it is heavy but maybe this will work. For awhile.
