Test Drive #22

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Buttered Buns
Things are tough for small bakeries in huge cities. It seems like there’s always a bigger chain offering less expensive breads around the corner. To compete, “Four Clover” bakery has gone all-in with a campaign to attract customers, and you’re here to help. They’ve put together a mascot costume for you (degree of cuteness up to player’s imagination), printed a zillion flyers, blown up bunches of balloons… and in praying for the success and prosperity of their store, they’ll certainly go along with whatever heaven-sent ideas come along.
Outdoor art exhibitions take advantage of the best days of the start of fall. In one large park, a multitude of unique bronze and ceramic statues are on display. However, there’s way more of them than there actually should be. The artist and organizers are stumped by a plethora of near-perfect copies standing alongside the originals. Should a god or shinki get close enough they’ll be able to tell which are ayakashi pretending to be statues, but don’t get your nose bitten off. And don’t break an actual statue while hunting the ayakashi. Please.
Formula car races are huge draws for those who love speed, and those who love betting. Snake skeleton ayakashi are twining themselves around the necks of betters, whispering in their ears to seduce the humans into crippling debt.
While gods and shinki are in a human’s blind spot and generally go unnoticed, trying to remove an ayakashi from someone might draw attention, depending on how you go about it. And in a crowd this large, there just might be a human who will notice a strange pair trying to do something to someone else’s neck...
A group approaches you. Some of them look relatively normal, if a bit on edge. Some of them look the very image of a nerd. And all of them are looking at you intently. This group of searchers of the paranormal have somehow (accurately) honed in on you, and are intent to find out everything about you. What planet are you from? What’s up with those clothes? That hair? Do you have any special powers?!
While they welcome you in peace, they are also very unwilling to let this interview end with your escape… Might need a friend to help you out (or throw you to the wolves).
Fashion runway. Frills. Shirts, pants, dresses, underwear; the changing room is full of variety.
Go strut your stuff.
It’s for a good cause, honest.

Have fun!
Rin Okumura | Blue Exorcist | Shinki
Step right up! Step right up! Limited time offer! The Rin Okumura x Four clover Bakery Inclusive!
[ It should be exclusive, but they both sound enough alike. It must mean the same thing! His words are probably falling on deaf ears, being a shinki, but Rin is confident in his cooking skills. He gives the baker an awesome accident in the kitchen that becomes a new feature item in the bakery. It's a stroke of genius that will surely stave off the competition.]
The New Five Alarm Chili Bread Bowl! Try it! Party in you mouth! Contents might be hot and could destroy the roof of your mouth! Step right up! Step Right up!
Copious Copies
This shit is gettin' annoying!
[ Rin groans. He can't tell the difference between which statute is real or fake. The copies are pretty good. So convincing that it fries Rin's brain trying to figure out the puzzle. If even the artists can't distinguish their own work, then there's only one way. Destroy them all?
At least it doesn't start that way. Rin is adamantly trying not to destroy the artist's work. Though the ayakashi manage snip and snap at him. Leaving him with bruises all over his arms and face. And one thing leads to the next, his hand swinging back abruptly, and knocking over one of them. The sculpture hits the floor with a crash, creating a domino effect.]
SHIT! SHIT! SHIT!
[Rin watches in horror as the pieces knock into each other, shattering on the hard floor. He sees the ayakashi vacating from space as the destruction continues. Then everything quiets, settling along with the dust in the air. The ex-wires stands there in embarrassment.]
My bad....but at least we found the fakes.
no subject
He...kind of did.
He hadn't made any motion to actually stop the domino effect because, well, there wasn't all that much he could do.]
Ah. You broke them all. We're in trouble~ Unless I leave really quickly.
no subject
W-wait! You're just gonna leave me like this?! Ain't friends supposed to help friends out?
[ Like assist him in cleaning this mess up.]
B-but runnin' doesn't sound like a bad idea either.
[On Second thought, running sounds like an awesome idea. So Rin decides to give himself a head start.]
no subject
[Takuma follows quickly behind him because there was no way he was going to clean up this whole mess by himself.]
Haha! I feel just like a delinquent!
no subject
He turns to Takuma as they flee the scene. Giving his accomplice a incredulous look.]
Huh? Something lame like makes you feel like a delinquent! You need to live more! There's way cooler things to do! Like skipping school, and beating up bullies in the back alleys. That kinda thing!
no subject
Skipping school actually sounds lackluster in comparison.
[But he's not the delinquent type. He definitely doesn't look like a delinquent type either. If he was into delinquency, then he would be into something like organized petty crimes. Teasing people doesn't count.]
no subject
[ Still something not new for Rin since he couldn't really control his strength sometimes. Though he waves it off.]
It'll be fine. It's not like they could really see us, and we ran out of there like lightning. Though you might wanna lay low for a bit.
[You know, just until everything blows over.]
no subject
[Takuma shakes his head and lets out a short breath, but he's still smiling. It's not like they can go fix it now!]
Oh...You know what we should do now, right?
We should try making a replacement statue! That would be a lot more fun than trying to fix it or clean it up.
no subject
[It sounds like a good idea, but that's something that requires a lick of talent. Something Rin lacks.]
I'll try, but I ain't no artist. I still draw stick figures as people. But maybe you're the artsy type? I can just take your direction, yeah?
no subject
[Rin has no idea what Takuma is roping him into.]
We can find all of that stuff anywhere. Let's go!
[He reaches out to link elbows with Rin to pull him along.]
no subject
[Newspaper, water, glue and cardboard? Sounds like an arts and craft project. Though it does seem fun, and Rin is always up for a good time. Doesn't seem like he has much of a choice because the blonde is already linking his arm with his and pulling him along.]
Since we're partners in crime now, guess I can tell ya my name. It's Rin Okumura.
no subject
[He's pulling him along, looking around for some discarded newspapers and cardboard boxes.]
Now let's see...
[He unhooks their arms as he comes upon a stack of newspapers on the side of the street. He held it out for Rin to hold.]
Here you are!
no subject
So? Ya really think garbage can be a replacement for dem statues?
[ He looks around for the cardboard the blonde mentions before, he suggests.]
We probably can find some boxes behind a store, or something.
no subject
[ Zero stares down at the array of broken statues and just stares at the person amid the wreckage ]
What kind of klutz are you?
no subject
Who ya callin' a klutz?! My hand slipped, okay?!
no subject
Your hand slipped... right.
[ /judging you ]
no subject
Are you sayin' I did it on purpose?!
[Because he didn't! Especially not to this extent. Damn this is a big mess!]
Anyway, shouldn't we go after those demons?
copies | Please assume post first meeting!
And then he hears the crash.
And the crashes that follow. Of course, he turns to the sound and winces at the statues falling. ]
Rin...
[ ...that's just like his twin, though. There's a sigh as he comes over, adjusting his glasses and using the motion to lightly press the area between his eyes. ]
You were supposed to be careful.
no subject
My bad. I guess one of those ayakashi caught me off guard. One of them have one hell of an uppercut.
[He rubs at his chin, there's a burning red mark where the ayakashi hit him. Rin does feel bad that he couldn't protect the artists's work. He knows they must have worked really hard, and for someone as talentless as himself, he could appreciate their art.]
I hope they aren't too pissed off.
no subject
But not until firing off an order. ]
It's fine. I'll take care of them. Track down the ayakashi before they get too far away! Keep me posted and I'll catch up to you.
[ With that, he's turning on one heel to approach the artists who are still trying to find their words... as their mouths are failing them. Though the do manage a "We worked on that for weeks!" But before approaching them, Yukio spares Rin one last glance over his shoulder to wave him off just in case he hasn't left yet. ]
Get going!
no subject
[ Rin's more then happy to run after the ayakashi. That's much more exciting than trying to figure out which art piece is the real or fake. At least, Yukio is there to talk to artists and officials, Rin isn't always good with words, but this guy definitely has a way with them. He's pretty awesome.
Except when Yukio barks at him to get going! Sheesh! ]
All right, All right!
[ Rin starts racing in the direction he remembers seeing the a yakashi escaping. Now that they aren't statues, they are much easier to track down. Rin catches some of them trying to hide within a painting. Rin tries to block them by smashing the center with his fist, piercing a hole into it.
He's not a god so he can't eradicate the ayakashi, so all he could do is prevent the ayakashi from taking another form. He's not really confident in using his sword, so he opts for smashing more art with his bare hands. He does feel guilty, but also gaining some enjoyment from destroying the artwork.]
no subject
But somehow, he feels he can't really fault Rin. That's always been his way: making things worse no matter how good his intentions.
But speaking of Rin, he's whipping out his phone as he hurries down the direction his twin was going. As he briskly walks, he's already tapping at his phone to his contacts and calling his brother in case he doesn't spot him. ]
no subject
After he manages to corner the ayakashi, he finally answers the persistent caller. He's slightly breathless from chasing these things around.]
Yeah? I'm kinda busy here!
no subject
[ His tone is serious, businesslike. After all, he's trying to get his point across as soon as he can. Yuki's already making his way from the exhibit and hurrying to catch up to his twin. ]
How far did they get?
no subject
[ Even if Rin isn't aware of who Yukio is to him, the nickname still kind of sticks.]
How's the damage control? Hope they didn't chew you out too much!
[ He chuckles a bit, feeling a bit guilty leaving that to the god. Though when Yukio speaks of the ayakashi, his attention returns to them.]
I got 'em cornered near the exit. Just waitin' on ya.
