Test Drive #21
Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!
Weird Wands
Kids love the new "magic wand" souvenirs from the Wizard's Wonderland cinema & party venue! They sparkle, they swish, they look just like real magic wizard's wands... actually, are these just souvenirs? They seem to be doing real magic! Unappetizing school lunches are turning into delicious cakes, a pack of stray dogs ate everybody's homework, and other elementary-school wishes are coming true all over the place. Be the mean grown-up and confiscate some wands, or just join in the fun.
What is the meaning of life, anyway? That's what this year's crop of incoming freshmen at Tokyo University really want to know. Careful crossing the campus: tormented sighs, heavy philosophy tomes, theological questions and earnest discussions abound. Help these kids lighten up and enjoy their college experience! Or take advantage and start preaching. With all this existential angst around, you could definitely score some new followers.
The dogs in a certain neighborhood go crazy every time the clock strikes one A.M. and the poor residents haven't had a good night's sleep in weeks. What's got those pooches so peeved? Hunt down the ayakashi prowling their streets, and let those hard-working guard dogs and their sleepy owners go back to getting some Z's.
There is a rash of incidents going around, literally. A large number of babies are suffering from yeast infection diaper rash, and the distress level of the parents is hitting the roof. All that distress might be attractive to ayakashi too, so stock up on zinc oxide, change lots of diapers, soothe the babies, and restore peace to the land.
A follower has entered an interior decoration contest to deck out an apartment in a complete and total apple theme. And they are dead set determined to win this thing. Everything from an apple teapot to apple socks to act as props in the dresser, your follower needs to completely furnish this place. Even though it's just a 1DK, it's sure starting to feel like a huge task to buy enough to decorate it. Lend a hand with the shopping and decorating, and try to hold back on shooting down your follower's design dreams?

[The air is full of sharp, pointy metal.]
[With a series of thunks that feel far heavier than a few shuriken should really be, they slam into the wall around Oscar, tracing out his outline quite neatly. The throw is no miracle of heaven -- they aren't touching him, there's a little room for error -- but it's not bad, by any means. Not bad at all.]
[As his cape settles down from its dramatic flare, Edge quietly pockets the real wand. The kid never even noticed.]

[He still can't deny a bunch of metal quickly going through the air is... unsettling, but he wills himself to stay calm. He's had lots of practice after all.
The shuriken form a perfect outline of him on the wall, Oscar would be impressed if he wasn't so focused on not panicking. The kid however is totally into it, cheering and jumping for joy and doesn't even notice his wand being replaced with a fake.

[And then the kid is jumping up and down, begging to be given a chance to try. Let HIM throw sharp spinny objects at the nice man, okay?]
[Edge -- wasn't prepared for this. He won the war but forgot to win the peace! So he shoots a glance at Oscar, looking for some help.]

[Oscar gives him a good one though, one he leaps on gratefully.] That's right! We're here and gone, all around the world. And since we were here, now we have to be --
[Edge quickly makes three signs with his hands, then thrusts both down. A cloud of smoke billows out of the ground suddenly, engulfing the three of them.]

[Thank goodness for having a partner that is a ninja, things like this are rather convenient. As the thick smoke billows, the both of them take the time to run off from the kid.
To the kid, it will be like they disappeared.]
