TEST DRIVE # 17



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Courtly Cadavers

Several dead bodies have very suddenly returned to life. Not only that, but they seem to be possessed by very courteous and polite spirits. So there are reports of half-rotten beings bowing down to young ladies and kissing their hands or holding open doors for other passersby. It's really nice, sure, but also really disturbing.

Dark Deeds

In the middle of the night, there is a spirit that keeps turning off all of the street lamps. Fortunately, there aren't many cars on the roads at this time. Unfortunately, the spirit is also putting out all of the cars' headlights as well. And no cell phone lights or flashlights work during that time either and it's starting to cause a lot of accidents.

Endless Eight

There are eight blocks in downtown Tokyo that have taken to repeating endlessly. As you reach the end of the eight block, you find yourself stepping onto the first block again. No amount of turning or redirecting yourself will allow you to leave the eight blocks - until you stop by a cafe with a couple of bunny girls out front and make a purchase, that is.

Further Forward

Many in Tokyo want nothing more than to be on the cutting edge of technology! And there are some wealthy people who want to be even further ahead than everyone else. That's why they've sent out a general call for new types of technology to be brought to them. And if what you bring is impressive enough, you might get yourself a nice reward~

Giant Goats

Several farms on the outskirts of the city have reported a very sudden and tremendous growth in their goats. That's right, there are two-story tall goats hanging out with the other farm animals. Other than being very large, they seem mostly the same. But since goats will eat anything, well... Let's just say a couple of farmers are going to need new barns soon.

[When the goats get away from them, Ruca lets a deep sigh of relief, his entire body bowing as if he's exhausted. The fire itself disappears.]

...It worked. I'm so glad. [He murmurs and then he remembers about the other.]

Ah.

[He quickly straightens himself and turns around, rushing to the other boy's side and extending his hand to help him up.]

A-are you okay? [He gives him a concerned look.]

[Shion will move behind the chair to help push her so she can rest easy.]

Hmm? I don't ... [He glances around and notices that they're are some girls nearby chattering.] There's a coffee shop nearby with some girls speaking to each other.

[And making googly eyes at them but Shion doesn't register that.]

[She sits back in her chair, hands folded in her lap and a prim posture as she clearly listens closer. Then she nods.]

Ah, yes, they do sound like they are service workers. There is no one besides them - other than us - would you agree?

[Because that seems weird to her, for this seeming to have been a busy street not too long ago.]

[bearpuns]

Of course not! No one care replace Teddie!

[ Teddie gives her a fairly innocent grin, before immediately taking her hand. ]

I apawlogize, I didn't ask your name!

[bearpuns]

What?! But Sensei is Sensei! I guess he also goes by Souji!

[ Teddie seems to have no concern over the cadavers. ]

[ Too bad Pidge is making a face. Everyone's answer is always magic around here. There is a logical explanation to everything.

However, she knew the guy was right. ]

I've been trying to fix the panels to have more reserve output, at least when it cuts the lights off, they can come back on, but he's faster than I can work.

[forreal]

[Good boy, glad you agree, Shion! Even if you didn't, Ryuji would have dragged you along with him anyway. With his arm still slung over Shion's shoulders, he gives the boy a pat.]

You ain't never seen a girl before? What's the deal?

[freezetheheavens]

[Nothing is logical when it comes to Heaven, Pidge.

Nonetheless, Toushirou shifts a bit so he can track the spirit with his eyes.]

I'll see if I can pin it down at least. It might not be a bad spirit; just one that wants to play.

[He unsheathes his sword, the sheathe disappearing as he does so.]

But at this rate, people can die.

[verde]

Don't know how much help this will be, but I can try to control the lights. Keep them on. I got some weird way to talk to them, so maybe I can keep people safe until you get rid of him!

[ Pidge doesn't seem to wait for an answer, just hurries off to the closest street lamp and touches it with her hand, closing her eyes. Some lights flicked back on, but it was weak. It was enough, however. ]

Eh...? [Stares.]

[... He should have asked that from the start.

Shion is immediately embarrassed and he looks down at the ground as his cheeks burn with embarrassment.]

I'm so sorry! That should have been obvious to me!

[asterflower]

[Sighing. He really didn't have a chance if he argued.]

Of course I've seen a girl before! [Frowning. Just... He's not around them a lot. Don't bully!! He's going to push weakly at Ryuji now.] There's no point to us talking to them, but if that's what you want to do go right ahead!

[Without him, okay.]

[asterflower]

Y-yes. Thank you.

[Shion takes the hand gratefully and stands. He doesn't quite let go as he starts to inspect the other with a curious and critical eye.]

You used some sort of other worldly power, didn't you? You look strained. You shouldn't push yourself.

[asterflower]

[Her keen sense has Shion paying attention. He slows them to a stop and glances around. It's quiet, aside from the giggling girls that are whispering to each other.

He sighs.] In reality this place should be littered with people. So the only seemingly logical cause of that is something supernatural...

[He believes in science. He's never going to get used to this sort of afterlife.]

[An awkward smile appears on his face when the other boy starts inspecting him.]

N-no. I'm fine! [He really is, promise. He just... panicked too much.] And... [He hesitates.] ...Yes. That was magic actually.

[Nobody will judge him for that here... right?]

Cadavers!

Rather than being helpful, Chinatsu was part of the reason why their parts were sent flying everywhere. While they may not be trying to eat her, she did not appreciate having her hands kissed by rotting corpses and when a guy can't take no for an answer, Chinatsu isn't afraid to send the message another way.

"I said DON'T touch me!" Her leg comes around swinging, sending an arm off towards a person she had failed to notice.

[Shion is definitely different from Matsumoto.

He shakes his head.]

It's fine. You were probably expecting a different God.

[freezetheheavens]

[A glance back at her as she runs to the nearest street lamp.

There's a flicker of surprise in his eyes but then he shifts his attention away from it. His eyes scan the area before he can feel it, the spirit as it starts to head for the street lamp.

Toushirou mutters something under his breath before he waves his sword, freezing the spirit in its tracks.]

Courtly Cadavers
[ From an assassin's the point of view, the dead getting up and moving around is not ideal. Not that Obi is responsible for any of these particular deaths, but it makes him think that it would be pretty bad if this had or did happen in Clarines.

That is, until one of the dead bodies, who was apparently intending to help an old lady carry her things, is smacked in the head with her handbag. Really hard, too, from what Obi gathers. Because the corpse topples over right into the street and flails.

And Obi, well... ]

Bwahahaha!! Awesome!!

[ Obi finds it hilarious. ]


Dark Deeds
[ Thankfully, Obi has excellent night vision. He's the most at home in the darkness.

The same cannot be said about most other people, and Obi avoids the mess of people by getting up on a lamp-post and peering down. ]

Uwaaah, those metal carriages sure are dangerous.


Endless Eight
What are they wearing?

[ No, seriously. What are they wearing? He's never seen bunny girls before. ]

Dark Deeds
[ This guy is out wandering in a pajamas. He's at least wearing shoes...well, slippers.

Because he lost his oxygen tube and the Near Shore doesn't agree with him, he's really worn out and feels really weak. He's sitting against the wall of some building or other like a dying flower, mumbling inaudible words to himself. Up close it's something about "Nii-ni". Actually, in the end it's pretty much the only thing he's saying. ]


Endless Eight
[ Haruka has not faced the endless streets as such. He's heard about it from people passing, though, and has remained in place watching, instead of wearing himself out he's listened for the solution, and eventually he knows what to do. But dealing with salespeople is a hassle, and he usually lets Natsuki deal with those sorts of things, so he needs someone to help him out.

He listens, and he purposefully chooses to walk up to someone who, for one reason or other, won't turn down his requests. ]

Hey, excuse me? Could you help me with dealing with those people there?


Giant Goats
[ Having gotten hold of an oxygen tank that he can carry with him easily, he's somehow ended up getting dragged to the farm and there he stares up at the goat with a nostalgic look on his face. ]

Oh Don, you've grown so big~

[ Wrong goat, Haruka. ]

[ Haruka can read thoughts and know things about people just from hearing their voice, that's always fun. ]

[Shion lets go, though he still looks concerned for the other's health.]

Magic... [He slouches, looking tired himself.] How amazing. It makes no sense, but here we are...

[What happened to science? But he should be thankful. Magic saved him after all.]

[His face is still burning. How rude of him!!!]

Having not met you yet, I was picturing something a little different. [A small hum.]

But you did save me like a proper god does, thank you.

[Because he's never going to be able to defend himself much, whoops.]

[It makes perfect sense to him since he comes from a place where magic, gods and other things like that were kinda a norm.

The awkward smile never leaves his place.]

Well... The human body really shouldn't be able to produce off shoots of energy such as fire. Unless it's spontaneous combustion or your body is releasing something that is reacting with the oxygen in the air magic really shouldn't be physically possible. Fire needs an ignition point if it were to occur spontaneously like that such as alcohol or melting fats... And, you don't have either of those do you?

[... Sorry, he's a bit of a nerd.

He laughs a bit softly.] Magic is a foreign concept to me.

[Her eyes narrow.]

How do you know him?
