TEST DRIVE # 15

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Sneaky Snakes

There are a number of snakes that have become possessed by a bunch of very sneaky ayakashi. They are slithering around, silently, snaring unsuspecting passersby into their trap - their trap to steal money. That's right, these snakes are busy snatching bills and coins from whoever they can. Try to put a stop to their thieving ways, or perhaps get thieved by them yourself.

Tummy Troubles

Many of the customers of a certain restaurant are complaining of the fact that their stomachs hurt after eating there. It could just be food poisoning, but many of these people are winding up in critical condition after a couple of days. It's time to figure out what the heck this cook is actually putting in the food.

Underwhelming Underwear

A family run business has been selling underwear for generations, but the underwear they sell is super boring and bland. Nobody wants to buy from them when cooler underwear is just around the corner. They've asked you to help them bring customers back in - by making their boring underwear seem as cool and hip as possible! How you do that is up to you.

Vividly Violet

There are so many ayakashi making their way through the air that at sunset the sky is turning an absolutely gorgeous shade of purple. Near Shore residents are reacting to this in varying ways. Many are delighted by the beautiful sky, but just as many are terrified that it's a sign of the end of times. Try to take down some ayakashi to make the sky less purple. Or just sit back and watch the beauty.

Wonder Wall

Anyways, there's this college boy who won't stop playing his acoustic guitar. He's from the US and is trying to pick up Japanese chicks. By now he should've somehow realized that they're totally not interested in him. But the song just keeps getting louder and louder and all that the people near the campus can hope is that today is gonna be the day that he stops playing. Maybe you're gonna be the one that saves them.

[ She regrets immediately uncovering her ears to catch all of what Kairi's saying. While she's thankful Kairi's here... ugh, will anything even work?

Well... only one way to find out. ]

We-- get his attention somehow. And then... confiscate his guitar.

... Okay. Not a bad plan.

[Kairi starts to consider this.]

Are you thinking we just take the guitar back to his room or are you thinking just... keeping it for longer than that.

[You know, STEALING, which she'd be far less in favor of.]

[ Immediately, the second suggestion puts a bad taste in her mouth. ]

I don't think we should just... steal it. [ She shakes her head, frowning. ] Just take it back to his room... maybe with a note on it to tell him to tone it down.

[ Kairi exaggerates her relief by blowing out a sigh with her hands still up by her ears. ]

Okay, I can live with that.

... If we go with the note idea, we could put anything we wanted on there too! About how if he wants to practice, there could be a better place to do it than where people are trying to study?

[ Although maybe they need something about the wrong way to pick up chicks too. ]

[ No thieving for these shinki today! ... Or, ever, probably. Mira can't speak for Kairi, but she knows if she'd do anything like that... she'd end up blighting Sora pretty horribly. She definitely does not want that. ]

It might be a long note, [ she says quietly, thoughtfully, ] but I think those are very good ideas. Could we find someone that offers lessons, maybe?

[ Likewise, Kairi would blight Roxas if she stole something permanently like that. Kairi jerks her head towards the sound they're both trying to avoid. ]

Not as long as that note!

[ Small jokes in the midst of stress. She's trying to lighten the mood. ]

It would have to be someone who really loves music and has the free time for it... Actually, wait... I wonder if Demyx would do it?

[ She turns to look at Mira more front-on as she works through the consideration. ]

Sora told me one time he and Demyx answered a prayer about music and Demyx was really good!

[ She winces loudly nonetheless; the guy is getting... louder... Mira feels really bad for the poor girl he's trying to serenade. Yikes.

Still, the joke pulls a quiet laugh from Mira, if a little strained. ]

Do you think so? I wouldn't want to foist that guy onto Demyx... I mean, I haven't actually met him, but I've heard he's nice.

But... it wouldn't hurt to ask, right?

It's the best option we've got.

[ She shakes her head at the sound still piercing them as he clearly hits some kind of high note he's proud of, not that he's in tune for it. ]

I think Demyx loves music enough that it'd get him interested. I mean, it's just a jam session, right? And he and Sora are friends, so maybe Sora can talk to him for us. Like you said, it can't hurt to ask.

[ Demyx may say no, Sora may say no, but it's a plan. ]

And any music lover-- [ She clears her throat and runs a hand through her hair, rubbing her hand over her ear. Ouch. ] --would be more than willing to give a hand... I think.
