TEST DRIVE # 15

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Sneaky Snakes

There are a number of snakes that have become possessed by a bunch of very sneaky ayakashi. They are slithering around, silently, snaring unsuspecting passersby into their trap - their trap to steal money. That's right, these snakes are busy snatching bills and coins from whoever they can. Try to put a stop to their thieving ways, or perhaps get thieved by them yourself.

Tummy Troubles

Many of the customers of a certain restaurant are complaining of the fact that their stomachs hurt after eating there. It could just be food poisoning, but many of these people are winding up in critical condition after a couple of days. It's time to figure out what the heck this cook is actually putting in the food.

Underwhelming Underwear

A family run business has been selling underwear for generations, but the underwear they sell is super boring and bland. Nobody wants to buy from them when cooler underwear is just around the corner. They've asked you to help them bring customers back in - by making their boring underwear seem as cool and hip as possible! How you do that is up to you.

Vividly Violet

There are so many ayakashi making their way through the air that at sunset the sky is turning an absolutely gorgeous shade of purple. Near Shore residents are reacting to this in varying ways. Many are delighted by the beautiful sky, but just as many are terrified that it's a sign of the end of times. Try to take down some ayakashi to make the sky less purple. Or just sit back and watch the beauty.

Wonder Wall

Anyways, there's this college boy who won't stop playing his acoustic guitar. He's from the US and is trying to pick up Japanese chicks. By now he should've somehow realized that they're totally not interested in him. But the song just keeps getting louder and louder and all that the people near the campus can hope is that today is gonna be the day that he stops playing. Maybe you're gonna be the one that saves them.

[Izumo lets out an impressed sound, looking far too amused.

Well, this woman certainly doesn't hold back, does she?

But when the man begins to curse at Celty, Izumo steps forward and smiles.]

No need to curse at the lady here. After all, she didn't kick you that hard to hurt you.

[Celty says nothing, but she doesn't seem intimidated at the man at all. At Izumo's intervention her helmet bobs in a nod while she crosses her arms and leans back on her heel.

The foreigner doesn't seem to have the best grasp on the situation as it's brewing however.]

'Oh yeah? This your girlfriend buddy? No? Then why don't you mind your own business.'

[What he fails to notice as he talks is the way the biker lady's shadow is beginning to writhe and spread at her feet.]

[While the foreigner doesn't seem to notice the shadow at Celty's feet, Izumo does.

In a way, it makes him feel sorry for the boy, but he simply smiles.]

It's hard to mind my own business when I hear such awful singing close by, not to mention, loudly too.

'Oh that's it!'

[The man goes to throw a punch at Izumo now, but it never comes close to connecting. The shadow springs up from the ground, lashes around his ankle, and then flips him headlong into some nearby bushes. He'd be out of their hair at least until he got himself out of there, if he wasn't smart and ran away when he did.

Celty, for her own part, tries to play off like she had nothing to do with what just happened. Considering the speed at which the shadows threw the guy and how most eyes had been on him it wasn't that hard a sell. And so while a few people run over to check on the man she's already started walking away.]

[Well, while the people are going to check on the man, Izumo doesn't waste any time to walk away either.

While he might try to talk to Celty, a bit interested in her shadows, it just might be a good idea to remove himself from the situation first before the man decides to come out of the bushes and try to assault them again.]

[She's not moving particularly fast, but with enough purpose to remove herself from the scene. Her memories of her old life are gone but a healthy fear of the police, especially traffic cops, is still there.

But once the noises of the incident begin to fade to the background she stops hard in her tracks. Her helmet turns, the black visor reflecting the shine of the sun as she looks back at him. There's no expression, but it's almost like she's glaring at him, questioning why he's following her.]

[Ah, she's looking at him now.

Izumo blinks once.]

I'm not following you. [He just happened to be going in the same direction, okay?]

[She holds her 'gaze' for a moment, but then her shoulders relax. Fishing out her phone, she types up a short message for the man.]

Sorry. Pays to be careful. It's been a weird day.

[He gives her a smile.]

No need to apologize. This place will just keep on getting weirder unfortunately.

So what is it we're supposed to do exactly? This is a bit different from being a transporter.

Transporter?

[There's a blink.]

Do you mean as a shinki or just in general?

A courier. I think I remember that much.

But just in general. Do we just wait for things to happen and then 'deal' with them?

Mm, in general, that is the gist of it. Otherwise, you're free to do whatever it is you'd like.
