What's that? You're interested in testing out what it would be like to join the wonderful world that is The Far Shore? Well then you have come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see how you would fare in our game without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Alleviating Ayakashi
The age-old quest of destroying ayakashi is something that most gods and shinki participate in at some point or another. Lucky for you, there are a lot of the nasty things around. Unlucky for you, they kind of think that eating you would be a lot of fun. So let's hope you're experienced enough at combat to kill them! Or at least avoid them long enough for someone else to…
A request has come in from someone who is missing a person who was in their life a long time ago. They want you to find that person and bring them back, no matter what it takes! Unfortunately, the only description you're getting of the person is from when they were seven, and they're likely in their fifties now. But that little picture the requester gave you might help you in your search if you ask enough people! That is, if you can get their attention long enough to ask…
There are a lot of couples around lately and certain followers are so jealous of them that they are praying for certain couples to be torn apart. That might not be your cup of tea, but then again it might be, who knows! All you know is that the lovers you're following around are a couple of the most nauseatingly cute people you've ever seen in a relationship. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to break them up after all, just for the sanity of everyone around them…
Of course, with Valentine's Day just around the corner, there are plenty of young Japanese boys praying that they will receive chocolates from the girls that they like. Are you willing to play a little game of match-making? And how exactly are you supposed to push two people together when neither of them tends to notice you for long? Ah well, love is in the air and you might as well help it along!
Valentine's Day isn't only celebrated by the people of the Near Shore, though. Those of the Far Shore are often placed in positions where they have to exchange chocolates. So what exactly are you going to do? This can be obligation chocolate, friendship chocolate, chocolate to express your love, or anything else you can think of.

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!

Kanji hadn't even paid attention to who it was.
Now that he was getting denied, however-
He sets down the small cap he'd been hemming for the teddie bear sitting in front of him, and turns to look at Yukine, face set. ]
What, you too good ta help finish the work for this prayer?
no subject
Heck yes, says the proud Hafuri Vessel.][For a prayer? Yukine takes a better look in the room and blinks, stunned for a moment.]
What the-- that mountain of plushies is for a prayer? ...'A', singular? [What on earth kind of prayer did you get saddled with?]

[ His scowl deepens at the look on Yukine's face, something about the kid's surprise rubbing him the wrong way. ]
You going to get that ribbon, or are you going to just stand there staring some more?
no subject
And speaking of being rubbed the wrong way-]
Nope, you're the one with hearing problems. I'll be nice and repeat it for you: get it yourself.
[He'll be on his way now.]
no subject
Yeah, and I'm gonna repeat myself- you too good ta help out yer fellow shinki?
[ And then, scowling as a thought hits him- ]
Or just us new guys? Because it's starting ta sound like you think you're better than us.
I'm really sorry for this dumb teenager /o\ Let's all just get along-!
It's because I'm too good that I am helping you new guys.
[The smirk deepens.]
And I don't just think I'm better than you. I know I am.
[Abruptly he holds out his hand for a handshake, smiling as if nothing had been happening.]
I'm Yukine, nice to meet you. [(Let me beat you.)]
From zero to neg cr in... six comments. I think this is a new record for me!
Walking past him.
Ignoring him.
Unfortunately- a better idea hits him, and he gives his fellow shinki- Yukine- a tight, somewhat bloodthirsty smile. ]
Kanji.
[ He takes Yukine's hand and shakes it, triggering what he likes to call 'bash'. At the back of his head, he can feel himself growing weaker- except for his hands, which are steady and strong, as he funnels his own health towards a berserker's strength.
All of which is focused on that handshake.
Not quite enough to break bones, he's smarter than that, but more than enough to make it painful. ]
Ditto (But I *know* it's a record for me...;;)
It's okay though, because he also gave Yukine what he needed. He just has to wait for his hand to be released to use it. Ow ow ow ow-
His eyes tight he grins through the pain, commenting through gritted teeth,]
Nice strength. I'd love to see what your shinki form is.
[As soon there is the slightest lessening of that brutal grip so that he can get his hand back he looks the guy right in the eyes and says clearly,]
Kanji, bind!
[And Yukine will just be immobilizing you in place now. Enjoy that. Yukine knows he will be. Absently rubbing his hand his smile becomes more relaxed (or perhaps more condescending).]
That nice strength can't do much for you now, though.
[(Nope, his smile is definitely condescending.)]
Kanji has that effect, I think.
He'd screwed up, gone too far, this was just a kid being a brat, not any kind of enemy, not any threat to him or his god. ]
Aw shit, I-
[ And then any speech is through gritted teeth, if he gets any out at all, with the sudden bind, and any regret is immediately covered with the sudden resurgence of his anger, and the realization that he'd given up a weakness to an enemy of his god.
Little shit of a brat. ]
I'm particularly amused that Kanji is only two years older...
Ironically, Yukine also has a moment of regret. Kazuma had told him to think carefully before using this spell because it would sting Yato. Ahhh, damnit. Now he'll have to go and apologize.
... And Kanji looks angry- probably enough to punch him through a wall given how strong his grip had been. He'd better take a head start before releasing the guy.
Yet still, Yukine is confident in his position over this other shinki. Perhaps the new ones will all have some weird abilities to boot, but nothing to match him, he's sure.
Still massaging his hand idly, he takes a deep breath and looks at Kanji carefully.]
I suppose that was a bit from the school of hard knocks, but it looks like you get the idea. And it's not like you can hide your name forever. In more ways than one. [He pulls down his shirt collar slightly to fully reveal the 'yuki' kanji on his left collar bone. (And, should Kanji be wearing a sleeveless shirt, Yukine will also eye the kanji on his arm.)]
