What's that? You're interested in testing out what it would be like to join the wonderful world that is The Far Shore? Well then you have come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see how you would fare in our game without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Alleviating Ayakashi
The age-old quest of destroying ayakashi is something that most gods and shinki participate in at some point or another. Lucky for you, there are a lot of the nasty things around. Unlucky for you, they kind of think that eating you would be a lot of fun. So let's hope you're experienced enough at combat to kill them! Or at least avoid them long enough for someone else to…
A request has come in from someone who is missing a person who was in their life a long time ago. They want you to find that person and bring them back, no matter what it takes! Unfortunately, the only description you're getting of the person is from when they were seven, and they're likely in their fifties now. But that little picture the requester gave you might help you in your search if you ask enough people! That is, if you can get their attention long enough to ask…
There are a lot of couples around lately and certain followers are so jealous of them that they are praying for certain couples to be torn apart. That might not be your cup of tea, but then again it might be, who knows! All you know is that the lovers you're following around are a couple of the most nauseatingly cute people you've ever seen in a relationship. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to break them up after all, just for the sanity of everyone around them…
Of course, with Valentine's Day just around the corner, there are plenty of young Japanese boys praying that they will receive chocolates from the girls that they like. Are you willing to play a little game of match-making? And how exactly are you supposed to push two people together when neither of them tends to notice you for long? Ah well, love is in the air and you might as well help it along!
Valentine's Day isn't only celebrated by the people of the Near Shore, though. Those of the Far Shore are often placed in positions where they have to exchange chocolates. So what exactly are you going to do? This can be obligation chocolate, friendship chocolate, chocolate to express your love, or anything else you can think of.

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!

Have fun!

[How about not that suggestion.]
...Wonder if someone around here's got a water hose.
no subject
Oh! And then they get all upset about getting drenched, and then they go somewhere else to dry off?
[Yeah, that sounds like a plan!]
I'll go look for one! Hopefully it's long enough to reach, too!
[This is apparently enough for her, because she's ready to start dashing around on a hunt for a hose! And not only that, but she's fast, too - Neku's going to have to act quick to keep up.]

They probably wouldn't notice us if we just tried to-- [talk to them, but. Uh. Where'd the girl go?] H-hey!
[He can run! He can totally run. Ish? Though she's got a head start so there's that.]
no subject
[Apparently an all out sprint towards the nearest buildings isn't enough; she's got a fist in the air as she shouts with all the fervor of someone doing something much more hotblooded than running around to find a gardening hose.
At least she's enthusiastic?
She actually skids to a stop when she reaches the nearest building, though not for long. Whatever remaining momentum was leftover from her dash is promptly funneled into hopping up briefly on trashcans with her hands to peer over them for any signs of a hose.]
Hmmm... I don't see one over here! Maybe it's on the other side!
no subject
Whoa, hold up or we'll lose track of them! [With any luck Yuuki's stopping at least long enough for to hear him.] If we keep tailing them, we'll have to come across a house with a garden or something before long...
no subject
She twists around to look at him, although her hands are still planted on the trash can with her feet dangling from her slight height.]
Huh? I guess so...
[And it isn't like they're really pressed for time, either.]
...But couldn't we just lead them over to one instead?
[Sort of like... herding things into an ambush...? Or something like that.]
no subject
Hollow leg, and all that.][...But yeah. That could work, if they could. You know. Get the attention of the living at all without making a big fuss. ...Neku's not exactly the big fuss type.]
If you wanna try, be my guest.
no subject
[They can use this to their advantage!]
Let's start with the hose first, and then we can chase them towards it! One of us can take the hose, and the other can lead them over!
[With a cheerful hop, she's back on the ground and turning this way and that, one hand over her eyes as if that will somehow improve her sight even though the sun isn't really in danger of getting in the way.]
Can you see one anywhere? There's got to be one nearby!
no subject
How about you run a little ways ahead? It's a pretty straight shot, and when you find something just yell for me and I'll see if I can stall them while you get it ready. [Uh.] ...Probably a dumb question, but you know how to work one, right?
no subject
His question does have her blinking at him curiously, however.]
Of course I do! Why wouldn't I?
[That's... pretty basic stuff.]
no subject
Just making sure I wasn't overlooking something obvious, that's all! [Not that he has a sneaking suspicion that he's never handled one in his entire life or anything of course not no. He's smart, but in a time crunch...? Uh.] But yeah. So. We're good.
no subject
Then, I'm heading out! I'll come get you once I find one!
[AND AWAY SHE GOOOOOOES how the hell does this girl have so much energy?
For her part, she'll be poking around various buildings with reckless abandon, helped in no small part because people literally do not notice her. Hmm, maybe she'll have better luck with the residential buildings like he suggested?
The one with the huge hedge wall is a no go, but she does come across a nice enough white house with absolutely no fencing around it. Sure enough, there's a hose on the side for maintaining the garden. A quick check tells her she just needs to turn the dial to turn it on, and the house owners are either snug in their home or out for the day - the perfect time to put it to use!
Once she's done with her investigations, she'll come running back to around where she left Neku, waving her arm as she calls out:]
Heeeeey! I found one, I found one!
[He's gotta be around here somewhere...]

[That voice cutting down the street is a relief like the light at the end of the tunnel, though, because once it's 'mission accomplished' they can get the hell out of here. He's trotting ahead of their targets with a raised hand in hopes of catching her attention.] Hey! Over here!
[Unfortunately, though, sometimes that light at the end of the tunnel is something more like an oncoming train...]
no subject
I found a place! It's a white house down the street this way. There's no fence, so just lead 'em over and we can get them, no problem!
[This is all very helpfully illustrated with some excited pointing.]
