TEST DRIVE # 13

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Illegal Irritations

Nothing supernatural about this one, there are just some guys sell illegal drugs and weaponry in some of the back alleys of Tokyo. They might solicit you to try and get your business or you might just happen upon them targeting someone else. Either way, are you really okay with letting this go on in your city?

Jumping Jellyfish

For some strange reason, a bunch of jellyfish have taken to literally jumping out of the ocean and all over the beaches. They seem to be scared of something in the water, but be that as it may, they're scaring away all the beach tourism! Quick, figure out how to get them back in the water!

Kooky Kickoff

A brand new store is opening up and, as part of their grand opening, they want people to perform for their potential customers! And they're just dragging people off of the streets and shoving them into ridiculous, off-brand character costumes to do it. Whether you're part of the show or watching others make fools of themselves, it promises to be a good time.

Lovely Lingerie

There's a great, new brand of lingerie being sold in Akihabara that is all the rage right now. They're stylish and sexy and come in all shapes, sizes, and colors! There's even some that are themed after popular shows. But people who are buying them keep winding up missing. Coincidence?

Manic Molting

So many birds are molting on the spot for no reason, shedding feathers all over the streets, on peoples' cars, and in any space they can get into. It's really not their fault, but darn if it's not making things difficult to do with all these feathers around! Either help clean up or figure out how to stop the mass molting!

[Even better! This might be the best day ever. but she doesn't look equipped for a fight like that.]

But what are you going to do if something like that does show up? It'll be huge!

[Luckily for them it's more likely to be simply a larger jellyfish.]

I plan to ask it politely to take its business elsewhere.

[Once again, she hefts the trident, eyes utterly devoid of fear or apprehension.]

And if necessary, I plan to force it to do so.

You can speak sea monster?

[He didn't even know that was a language. And here his school has been making him learn Latin.]

[Luna can't help but laugh a little at Isaac's question.]

Well... I could at home, at least.

That's incredible! Back home they taught us all kinds of languages, but non so exciting.

[He trots on over next to her and turns to face the water, shielding his eyes from the sun with one hand.]

So do you think it's on its way? I wonder how big it will be in person...

[He should be wondering if it's dangerous, but that's a problem for future Isaac.]

It's hard to say. It may be as tall as a building, for all we know.

[It wouldn't be the first time. But she glances over to Isaac as he looks out over the water.]

Haven't you brought a weapon of your own?

That big?? I can't wait to see it!

[Squinting out over the water.... and then he turns to look up at her with an expression that suggests the idea never even occurred to him.]

Um... no?

Do you have any magic?

[She really doesn't want to see him get hurt if and when this thing shows up.]

[He perks right back up.]

Yes! Back home Professor Mathers said I had a surprising amount of talent for someone like me. And ever since I came here, it's like my spells have been getting stronger and stronger.

[Which might have more to do with goddess he's replacing, but let him dream.]

And I've been practicing a lot too, so I think... that....

[And he trails off, looking down at his feet. Because something is casting a large shadow over them now.]

[Luna nods, smiling a little now in relief.]

Good. It's sure to be a difficult fight, so I wouldn't want you to be unprepared. I'm not certain if I'll be able to defend us both.

[And hey, right on cue. As Isaac is looking down, Luna looks up as a huge form begins to rise up out of the waves...]

Get ready!

[And out of the water rises a massive creature that resembles a jellyfish except for the eyes and a mouth with jagged teeth. Isaac makes a very manly and dignified squeaking noise and jumps back.]

It- it's huge!

[It opens it's horrible gaping maw and...]

How dare you humans call for me?? Got anything else to throw in my ocean?!

[Luna, on the other hand, seems utterly unfazed in the presence of such a horrifying creature. Standing straight and tall, she politely bows her head before addressing it in return.]

Greetings, and thank you for welcoming us to your waters. We are not humans, but have come to aid and protect them. We are representatives from the Far Shore, and wish to negotiate peace between the humans who live here and your... [she takes a quick glance around the beach] ...children.
